Mufti Muntasir Zaman is an Islamic scholar, educator and researcher specialising in Hadith and Hanafi jurisprudence. He graduated from the ʿAlimiyyah programme at Madrasah Arabiyyah Islamiyyah in South Africa before completing advanced studies in Ifta (Islamic legal verdicts) and a specialised programme in Hadith. He later earned a Master’s degree in Islamic Studies from the Markfield Institute of Higher Education in Leicester, England. Mufti Muntasir Zaman serves on the faculty of Qalam Institute and Qalam Seminary in the United States, where he teaches Fiqh, Usul al-Fiqh and advanced Hadith studies. He has also served as head of research at Qalam and as an imam at the Islamic Center of Irving in Texas. His scholarly work focuses particularly on Hadith methodology, transmission, manuscripts and the relationship between classical Islamic scholarship and contemporary academic questions. He has written and translated numerous articles, book reviews and works of classical Islamic literature. His publications include research on Sahih Muslim, studies of Sahih al-Bukhari manuscripts, Arabic manuscript studies and Hadith scholarship in the Indian Subcontinent. His writings have appeared through platforms including Hadith Notes and Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research. Through his teaching, research and writing, Mufti Muntasir Zaman is known for making advanced discussions in Hadith and Islamic law accessible while maintaining a strong grounding in the classical Islamic scholarly tradition.
