Becoming Bold is about becoming the most confident, fulfilled and unapologetic version of yourself - not just in one area of your life, but across all of it. Hosted by Izzy Newbold, each episode explores the four areas that shape our lives: health, wealth, clarity and relationships. Through honest solo episodes and conversations with guests, we unpack the routines, choices, boundaries, lessons and bold opinions that have shaped who they are and who they’re becoming. It’s not about having everything figured out. It’s about backing yourself, doing things before you feel completely ready, and continuously becoming a bolder version of you. In this solo episode of Becoming Bold, Izzy opens up about the topic closest to her heart: her relationship with alcohol. Her bold opinion — alcohol is one of the most dangerous drugs in our society precisely because we've made it so normal, and when someone starts struggling with it, the conversation turns to "why can't you control yourself" instead of what they're using it to cope with. Izzy takes you through the whole timeline, including the parts that aren't neat. Starting to drink at 15 or 16 and noticing early that it didn't affect her the way it affected her friends. The blackouts, and that specific feeling of waking up and reaching for your phone. The boyfriend who suggested Dry July and, without knowing it, changed the trajectory of her life. Melbourne lockdown, her health science degree, 75 Hard, and discovering that exercise could change her state without borrowing happiness from tomorrow. The years of Friday-night negotiation with herself, documented in journals she still has. The friction it created with her family, and the shame cycle where the thing causing the shame became the thing she used to escape it. Then 15 months completely sober through a difficult breakup, three weeks in Europe with her family, and a lot of lonely Saturday nights spent telling herself to have foresight. She's also honest about what came after: going back to drinking, marathon training in 2024, getting too introverted and realising that something looking healthy doesn't mean you're doing it for a healthy reason, a bad night at the start of 2025, two weddings sober, and where she actually sits today — still working through it with her psychologist, and not pretending otherwise just because she has a podcast. Through the core four: Clarity: the biggest one when it comes to alcohol — when you stop drinking you can't hide from yourself, and sometimes what you find out hurts Health: the physical stuff is obvious, but it was the next-day anxiety and mental health that cost her most Wealth: not the drinks and the Ubers, but the Sundays, the Mondays, and the sheer mental capacity spent thinking about it Relationships: the friction with family, and the relationship it damaged most — the one with herself, and why keeping promises to herself became everything She finishes with the two tools she still uses: asking what job you're giving alcohol tonight before you ask whether you're drinking, and having foresight. Plus a message for anyone who loves someone struggling — you're allowed compassion and boundaries at the same time. If you're the one having that internal battle every weekend, this one's for you. In this episode of Becoming Bold, Izzy is joined by her own coach and mentor, Bec Cameron, to unpack her bold opinion: burnout is often glorified as ambition, when really it's a sign you've built a life you can't sustainably live. Bec breaks down what burnout actually did to her body — the adrenal fatigue diagnosis, watching her squat drop from 85kg to 45kg in a matter of weeks, six months of pulling back from training, and the wired-but-exhausted stretch where she couldn't sleep at night or get out of bed in the morning. From there the two get into why hustle culture is so glamorised, why loving your work doesn't make you immune, and how to tell the difference between genuinely needing rest and telling yourself you're just being lazy. Then they run through the core four — health, wealth, clarity and relationships — and what Bec is doing in each right now: Health: her nervous system, why she guards her mornings before she shows up for anyone else, and the box breathing habit she gives every client who's running on adrenaline Wealth: why she's driven by freedom rather than money, going from an Airbnb property to working with a financial advisor, and where to start if "investing" still sounds like someone else's word Clarity: giving herself time to actually hear herself think, walking with no phone and no podcast, and how the comparison trap quietly rewires what you believe about your own success Relationships: the area she's finding hardest, having KPIs for seeing her friends, the introvert trap of staying home, and the era of competing when she knows she wasn't a good friend An honest conversation about capacity, boundaries and doing something about it before you hit breaking point. In her first ever solo episode of Becoming Bold, Izzy shares her bold opinion: you don't need to completely reinvent your life to feel better. Most of the time you just need to get consistent with the things that already make you feel like you. No pretending she has it figured out, no telling anyone what to do — just an honest snapshot of where her core four are sitting right now, what's working, and what she's still finding hard. Health: why the boring basics work, planning gym sessions like appointments, long morning walks now that she's not starting at 6am with clients, and how losing her structure earlier this year showed up in everything else Wealth: doing things before you feel ready, why confidence comes after the action and not before, and what starting this podcast and her online business taught a self-confessed perfectionist and procrastinator Clarity: sitting in uncomfortable emotions instead of reaching for the nearest distraction, why she's pulled back from drinking, journaling before bed, and walking the dog without her phone Relationships: people pleasing, the fear of conflict that had her self-abandoning, the 15 months of not drinking that taught her to say no without guilt, and the sentence she says to herself every single morning A raw, unfiltered look at what changing your patterns actually feels like while you're in the middle of it. In the very first episode of Becoming Bold, Izzy is joined by her best friend Riley Armitage to unpack her bold opinion: you create your own reality. Riley opens up about the period when she couldn't stop searching her own name online, why she was quietly addicted to the discomfort of it, and the decision to stop that changed how she felt about herself. From there the two get into what a spiral actually looks like, how to find the facts and break the loop, and why waiting for your circumstances to change before you let yourself feel good keeps you stuck. Then they run through the core four - health, wealth, clarity and relationships and what Riley is doing in each right now: Health: why she swapped running and F45 for walking, Pilates and low-impact movement, and how forcing it backfired Wealth: what an abundance mindset looks like on a random Wednesday, why generosity plays into it, and the work behind the manifesting Clarity: meditating for five minutes, visualising her day before she gets out of bed, and why we've lost the ability to be bored Relationships: becoming the person you'd want to date, catching yourself before you get petty, and giving yourself the validation you keep asking others for An honest, funny, occasionally spiritual conversation about what it actually takes to change your mind and your life.
