Comedians Mark Steel and James Gill chat all things Crystal Palace - and beyond. Love Jefferson Lerma? Crazy about Chris Richards? Adore Adam Wharton? This is the podcast for you. Want to listen to a podcast while you can possibly hear Mark's washing machine in the background because son Elliot put on a wash before leaving the house? Again, this is the pod for you. Mark Steel is an icon of stand-up comedy and is best known for Mark Steel's In Town, The Mark Steel Lectures and What The F*** Is Going On? James Gill runs and MCs the multi-award-winning comedy nights Always Be Comedy and is a writer and TV warm-up.

  1. Always Be Palace episode 4: post-City therapy, trying to broker an HF return, and the upcoming trilogy

    Aug 29, 20261 hr 4 min

Hosts Mark Steel and James Gill enjoy group therapy as they try and come to terms with a bit of a tonking at Selhurst Park (4-1 to Man City, we're loathe to remind you). We appear leaky at the back, and we're not sure where the goals are coming from (but, goshdarnit, we're remaining positive!). We look ahead to the upcoming blockbuster trilogy, and encourage fans to go to the League Cup game vs Middlesbrough (especially good for those who don't have a season ticket - a chance to see the team). Please email theteam@alwaysbecomedy.com with any questions and so on. And please remember to rate, review and subscribe. And we really hope a happy outcome can be reached with the Holmesdale Fanatics!

  2. Always Be Palace episode 3: Mateta controversy, Sarr mystery, get well Chadi, finding the positives and building work at Selhurst

    Aug 23, 20261 hr 0 min

Talk about a potty start to the season: Mateta drama, an injury to lovely Chadi Riad, Sarr rumours... oh, and we lost at Everton. However, you can count on Always Be Palace hosts Mark Steel and James Gill to try and find the positives... As ever, please email theteam@alwaysbecomedy.com with any questions, etc. And huge thanks to everyone for getting on board so far! Mark kicks off the episode with some 1940s-style front-line reporting from the building work at Selhurst Park... (oh, and as mentioned in the ep - the Kardashian/Palace tweet is by Palace fan MrPringles19)

  3. Always Be Palace episode 2 (we're counting the pilot as ep1!)

    Aug 18, 202659 min

It's now a weekly thing! Always Be Palace with hosts Mark Steel (comedy icon, loads of telly and radio) and James Gill (Always Be Comedy, TV warm-up, former Palace correspondent for the Croydon Advertiser 2002-05). We chat pre-season, the majesty of Daniel Munoz, the comic timing of the great Adam Wharton and so much more. Please email theteam@alwaysbecomedy.com with any questions and the like. Please rate, review, subscribe and all that malarkey!

  4. Always Be Palace pilot episode

    Jul 31, 202654 min

Welcome to a new Crystal Palace-tastic podcast: Always Be Palace. Your hosts are comedians and actual friends Mark Steel (comedy icon, Mark Steel's in Town, Mark Steel Lectures, What the F*** is Going On and much more ) and James Gill (Always Be Comedy founder and MC, Harry Hill's Clubnite, TV warm-up). Each week they'll chat all things Palace - and much more besides. The pilot episode gets off to the perfect start as Elliot Steel (comedian and son of Mark) has put on the washing machine before leaving the house - so you may be able to hear the soothing sound of Elliot washing his clothes.
