  1. Your 3.0 Duramax MAP Sensor Could Be Causing Problems from The 3.0 Duramax Podcast, opens in a new tab

    Sep 14, 202617 min

In this episode, we take a closer look at the 3.0 Duramax MAP sensor, including what it does, why it gets dirty, where it’s located, and whether you should clean it or replace it.The MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor is an important part of the 3.0L Duramax diesel engine management system. Because of its location near the EGR flow into the intake manifold, the sensor can develop significant buildup over time. We discuss why accurate MAP sensor readings matter, how a dirty or skewed sensor could affect engine operation, and why I now recommend replacing the sensor rather than cleaning it.We also talk about LM2 vs. LZ0 MAP sensors, changing regen intervals and some of the other basic items worth checking when your Duramax starts regenerating more frequently, including the air filter and mass airflow sensor. Also in Episode 29:• An update on genuine PPE engine oil filters and their new packaging/design• Why I recommend replacing the aluminum transmission filter bolts during service• Winners of the Blowzer X6 cordless air duster giveaway• My recent tour of Banks Power and an update on 3.0 Duramax development• A quick update on my 2027 Silverado 1500 ZR2 with the 3.0 DuramaxFor more 3.0 Duramax diesel news, technical information, and updates:[www.duramaxnews.com](http://www.duramaxnews.com)Shop 3.0 Duramax parts and products:[www.demonworkshop.com](http://www.demonworkshop.com)Topics covered: 3.0 Duramax MAP sensor, LM2 Duramax, LZ0 Duramax, MAP sensor replacement, dirty MAP sensor, Duramax regen frequency, Duramax maintenance, PPE oil filters, 3.0 Duramax problems, and Duramax diesel maintenance.00:00 Intro – 3.0 Duramax MAP Sensor & Episode 2901:25 Blowzer Giveaway Winners04:10 PPE Oil Filter Update & Fake Filters06:35 3.0 Duramax Transmission Filter Bolts07:45 3.0 Duramax MAP Sensor Problems09:10 Why the MAP Sensor Gets Dirty10:20 Clean or Replace the MAP Sensor?12:05 LM2 vs LZ0 MAP Sensors13:05 MAP Sensor Codes & Why Readings Matter14:45 Banks Power Tour & 3.0 Duramax Update17:20 What's Coming Next
