Football America is a show about stories that matter—discussed by people who don’t. Why? Because this beautiful game deserves all of the spotlight. Football raised us. We obsess over it. We fight about it. We name our dogs after retired players, then name our children after those dogs. We talk football the way Sinatra sang songs: with conviction. And drunk. Each week, Dave Dameshek’s embarrassing habit of assigning meaning to frivolous stats is on full display as he is joined by a host of celebrities, players, and well-meaning people who play experts on television. Hilarity ensues. Debate follows. It’s a love letter to football written in spicy mustard. Football America! is synonymous (see what we did there?). This isn’t just a sport. It's our national identity… but it’s also a sport.

Sixty minutes are in the books, and the NFL landscape is already pure chaos! Are the Jets and Giants both actually competent? Is it time to panic about the vaunted Texans defense after giving up 36 points to Josh Allen and the Bills? Plus, we dig into Bill Belichick’s second chapter at UNC, the Patriots’ continued struggles, the sleep-drunk Rams, and the total power outages plaguing the Chargers’ offense. To make sense of the opening-week fallout, our friend Ten Day Tony joins our show along with the great Gregg Rosenthal (that’s Gregg with three Gs). Learn more about your ad choices. Football is back, which means it’s officially time to panic over sample sizes of one! Mike Ryan Ruiz and Tony Calatayud swing by to publicly recant the terrible Week 1 takes they immediately regret. We ask the tough questions: Are the Rams and Chargers cooked, or just sleeping in? Tony breaks down why the Giants are complete, unadulterated fool's gold, and we roast the Steelers for somehow making a victory look like a mid-afternoon snoozefest. Finally, comedian Brad Williams joins us live from inside a Red Robin to preview Broncos vs. Chiefs—assuming his bottomless fries don't distract him first.ALERT: Football America! Will be live every Monday this season at 12:45pm ET. Join us on YouTube. Drop into the comments. We'll weave them into the show. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Then, Sports Illustrated’s Matt Verderame stops by and brings the heat for Chiefs vs. Broncos. Finally, we lock in our game picks before we roast the J-E-T-S. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Who will summit Mount Lombardi this season? Football America! breaks down the NFC and AFC North. Go Long’s Ty Dunne provides the national view, while Tim Benz (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review) dives deep on the Steelers. Dunne says the departure of Harbaugh and Tomlin allow their respective former teams to breathe and modernize. Benz breaks down why fans might be overly optimistic about the Steelers defense. Plus, are the Bengals are the most interesting team in the league this year? Or does Joe Burrow just need to retire and front an emo band? Learn more about your ad choices. The one and only Mina Kimes drops by to build her ultimate roster of favorite head coaches, coordinators, quarterbacks, offensive lines, and defenses. Plus, she breaks down: AFC & NFC contenders on high alert to miss the playoffs; where the Dan Campbell era in Detroit will stand three years from now (spoiler: Mina’s still buying the hype). But is she too hard on Caleb Williams? And will Zach Charbonnet get the Hard Knocks fantasy bump? To wrap it up: Social Randy explains why our listeners desperately want Joe Burrow to pair with Ben Johnson... or Mike Shanahan... or maybe Sean McVay. Learn more about your ad choices. Tony Calatyud is in the studio to talk a little ball with the boys on a Friday. Dave, Tony, Gino, and Ethan discuss the Buffalo Bills and their chances of eclipsing their predicted win total this season, as well as which teams we know for sure will NOT make the playoffs. Plus, Tony and Ethan go head-to-head in another edition of Mister Lister, and this battle is juicy. Then, Ben Axelrod of Front Office Sports joins Dave to discuss the news that Tony Romo is stepping down at CBS, the media's responsibility in covering the Kyle Shanahan situation, and who will start under center for Ben's Cleveland Browns come Week 1. This week, Nate Tice from Football 301 joins the show to help us unpack why the 49ers might be dangerously overhyped, even if Brock Purdy remains wildly underrated under center. Then, we head over to the AFC to declare why you need to buy all the stock in the Houston Texans and their fantastic young quarterback, CJ Stroud. We also break down why Fernando Mendoza has found himself in the absolute perfect situation to succeed, before taking a trip down memory lane to remind everyone that prime Dan Marino was basically Superman playing the QB position. Finally, we close out the show with a pop-culture confession: we're defending the nu-metal renaissance and debating why Korn and Limp Bizkit might actually be... good. This week, we’re covering all the bases—and the pitches, and the gridiron. We kick things off with a deep dive into the NFC East, breaking down what to expect from the Eagles, how Jalen Hurts is looking, the latest on Jim Harbaugh, and the current state of the Dallas Cowboys. Then, we trade our cleats for pitch-side seats to talk World Cup fever and the unwritten rules of global fan etiquette. Are you doing it right, or are you the problem? Finally, we take a trip to the Friendly Confines of Wrigley Field to tackle the most hard-hitting topics in baseball: the infamous pee troughs and the real reason they strictly ban the wave in the outfield bleachers. Grab a beer, mind your manners, and tune in! AUDIO Football America! is available wherever you listen to podcasts. Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer joins the show to break down the Brendan Sorsby saga! Did Curt Cignetti know this was coming? Breer shares exclusive insight on NFL teams targeting Sorsby for the supplemental draft, why the NCAA is making him a "sacrificial lamb," and how an NFL agreement might just bring him straight to the banks of the Three Rivers. The NBA Playoffs are here! All we can talk about is Wemby. So what are the football equivalents? You know, the players who were so unthinkably good they changed the game. We create the master list of players, you know, the Bo Jackson's of the NFL. (Bo is obviously on the list). And where does our good friend, Aaron Rodgers fit in on this list? Dave has thoughts. The 2026 NFL schedule is here, and it's time to admit it: this is a total scam. We knew the games months ago, and "strength of schedule" is just a guess based on a season that’s already over. Yet, here we are, reading every headline just to plan our November. If we’re going to waste our time on nonsense, let’s at least make it interesting nonsense. Let's stop the schedule-shuffling and start a much weirder conversation: What if American football played by soccer’s rules? Plus, Ethan Strauss of House of Strauss stops by to give his thoughts on storylines and why we think the way we do. Don't miss it.
