(Thursday Live) Description: Simon and Paul find out live that the voice in their head isn't who they thought. Watch a passing thought without touching it, and it vanishes — every time. 📞 Have a conversation with Mark → http://uqt55rov9mx.typeform.com/to/e9rzieNu Paul spent two weeks getting quietly baited by a coworker — until he caught himself mid-defense, live, on air: "I can see my act." That's the moment. Mark walks Paul and Simon through the real question of the night: if there's no self, who's actually talking back in your head? Have a conversation with Mark → http://uqt55rov9mx.typeform.com/to/e9rzieNu Eckhart Tolle's most famous exercise — "I wonder what my next thought will be" — contains a hidden flaw: the voice asking the question is itself a thought, and it never gets caught. Mark walks through exactly why this creates a loop with no exit, what presence and disidentification actually have to do with each other, and the one move that catches the mouse Tolle's exercise always lets go. Geneva spent 25 years in a relationship with a Unicorn. She pushed. He disappeared. The harder she pushed, the further he went. What she eventually discovered — and what changed everything — wasn't backing off. It was learning to invite him forward with safety instead of anger. Dr. Mark Waller and Rachelle Lane unpack the Lion's anger, the Unicorn's disappearing act, and what a conscious relationship actually looks like when both people can finally see the pattern they're in. 📞 Have a conversation with Mark → http://uqt55rov9mx.typeform.com/to/e9rzieNu 🌿 Rachelle Lane📧 Rachelle@holdingcermeonyspace.com🌐 HoldingCeremonySpace.com▶️ @HoldingcermeonyspaceJoin 🦁 Lion or Unicorn? → https://uqt55rov9mx.typeform.com/to/J3yaPpbo 🌐 masteringthought.com

You've read Tolle. You've meditated for years. You know you're not your thoughts — until you had a bad day. Here's the wall no one names: you cannot observe a thought you're already inside. Every instruction these teachers give requires an observer position they never show you how to find. Moment Mindfulness is that entry point. This isn't about managing the voice better. It's about seeing through it. . 📞 Have a conversation with Mark → http://uqt55rov9mx.typeform.com/to/e9rzieNu 🔍 Explorer or Analyzer? → https://uqt55rov9mx.typeform.com/to/LQ95bMHx 🦁 Lion or Unicorn? → https://uqt55rov9mx.typeform.com/to/J3yaPpbo 🌐 masteringthought.com

Sarah has been practicing Moment Mindfulness for months — watching mundane thoughts, building the muscle. It's starting to carry into the hard moments. Simon is a lifelong analyzer who spent weeks narrating at an idealized version of himself that doesn't exist. This week, the missiles stopped hitting him. In this live session, both describe what that shift actually feels like — and whether the voice, when it speaks, still feels like theirs. The voice in your head has convinced you which thoughts matter most. The big ones. The dark ones. The ones you've been trying to fix for years. That's the trap. In this Thursday live session, Dr. Mark Waller sits down with Paul — a new guest navigating OCD, a bipolar diagnosis, and a lifetime of searching for answers outside himself — and Simon, the channel's returning ambassador of overthinking. Together, they work through the core practice of Moment Mindfulness and the one thing the ego will never let you believe: the trivial thought is the door out, not the dramatic one. You can't solve the problem of thought from inside the system of thought. That's a battle no one wins. This session is what it looks like when real people, in real time, start to find the exit. Most people don't know they're living inside a narrator's voice. They think the thoughts are them. In this live Thursday session, two people are finding out what happens when that changes. Sarah is a few weeks into the practice of Moment Mindfulness. The voice that used to drag her down a rabbit hole of self-criticism is losing its grip — and she's starting to see herself clearly for the first time. Simon is an analyzer: someone who uses internal narration to predict, control, and survive every moment. He watches himself do it. He knows exactly what he's doing. He just doesn't know how to stop. This episode covers the bonfire metaphor — the voice in your head needs identification as its fuel, and when you withdraw that, it gradually goes quiet. It covers the difference between using internal speech as a tool and being used by it. And it includes the moment Simon's subconscious surfaces a dream from age 13 — Sisyphus rolling a boulder up a hill — and what it reveals about who he's really trying to punish with all that work. This is Moment Mindfulness the way it's meant to be learned. Not a lecture. Real people, real time, watching their own psychology lay itself out like a banquet table. <p>Have you tried mindfulness on your anxious thoughts and felt it stopped working the moment you needed it most? You're not failing — you're using the practice from inside the room you're trying to escape.</p> <p>For thirty years I've told patients who've tried everything to start with the trivial thoughts. Not the depression. Not the anxiety. The small ones. The forgettable ones. "I need to call the bank." "I wonder if it'll rain tomorrow."</p> <p>When you watch those, something happens that no amount of working on your hardest thoughts can produce — a realization, not a technique. You are not the voice in your head. Once that lands, the anxious thoughts don't disappear. They just stop choking you.</p> <p>In this episode I walk you through the infested-house metaphor, why fight-or-flight closes the observer door, and exactly how to practice — eyes open, in normal life, no altar required. If you've struggled with this practice before, the people who struggle most are what I call analyzers. There's a quiz below.</p> <p>⏱ <b>Chapters</b><br> 0:00 - Is My Therapist Crazy?<br> 1:30 - The Infested House (Why Fighting Thoughts Doesn't Work)<br> 3:25 - Why Mindfulness Fails When You're Anxious<br> 4:36 - What Disidentification Actually Is<br> 7:17 - How to Practice Moment Mindfulness<br> 9:09 - Why You Identify With Your Thoughts (The Shirt Metaphor)<br> 10:44 - The Realization That Changes Everything<br> 12:11 - Take the Quiz to Find Out If You're an Analyzer</p> <p>🔍 <a href="https://uqt55rov9mx.typeform.com/to/LQ95bMHx">Are you an Explorer or an Analyzer?</a> — find out which approach to inner work fits you<br> 🔍 <a href="https://uqt55rov9mx.typeform.com/to/J3yaPpbo">Take the Lion & Unicorn quiz</a> — find out which pattern is running your relationship</p> <p>📞 <a href="http://uqt55rov9mx.typeform.com/to/e9rzieNu">Book a discovery call</a></p> <p>🌐 <a href="https://masteringthought.com">masteringthought.com</a><br> <a href="https://www.youtube.com/@Mastering-Thought">@Mastering-Thought</a></p> <p>#MomentMindfulness #Awakening #MasteringThought #Disidentification #VoiceInYourHead #Mindfulness</p>
<p>You've done the inner work. The retreats. The ceremony. The meditation. And then you come home, and within two days you're in the same fight with the person you love most. Same lines. Same wounds. Same exit.</p> <p>That doesn't mean your awakening was fake. It means you've kicked the door open — and step two is harder than step one.</p> <p>In this conversation with Rachelle Lane (founder of <a href="https://holdingceremonies.com">holdingceremonies.com</a>), we name the thing almost no awakening teacher will say out loud: the purpose of a relationship isn't to make you happy. It's to make you conscious. The person closest to you is the one most likely to trigger what your awakening didn't touch — because your nervous system was wired by age five, and it sees them as your mother or father, not as your partner.</p> <p>We unpack the limbic system's role in adult relationships, why fight-or-flight closes the observer door, the Lion and Unicorn pattern that lives underneath most couples' arguments, and the precise question to ask the next day after a triggered moment — the one that breaks the spell after only two or three reps.</p> <p>If you've done years of inner work but still find yourself in the same dance with the same partner, this episode is for you. The fight isn't about the dishes. It's about a wound your awakening illuminated but didn't heal.</p> <p>⏱ <b>Chapters</b><br> 0:00 - Stop Relationship Conflict<br> 0:55 - Why Spiritual Insight Doesn't Heal Emotional Patterns<br> 2:31 - The Real Purpose of Relationships<br> 4:19 - Why Triggers Come From Childhood<br> 6:26 - Why Couples Repeat the Same Fights<br> 10:13 - Ego, Survival, and the Fear of Letting Go<br> 14:07 - Why Your Partner Feels Like Your Parent<br> 19:07 - The Lion and Unicorn Relationship Pattern<br> 24:36 - Why Relationships Become Your Greatest Teacher<br> 28:05 - How to Break the Pattern in Real Time<br> 32:01 - Awakening, Relationships, and Real Freedom</p> <p>🔍 <a href="https://uqt55rov9mx.typeform.com/to/J3yaPpbo">Take the Lion & Unicorn quiz</a> — find out which pattern is running your relationship<br> 🔍 <a href="https://uqt55rov9mx.typeform.com/to/LQ95bMHx">Or take the Explorer / Analyzer quiz</a> — find out which approach to inner work fits you</p> <p>📞 <a href="http://uqt55rov9mx.typeform.com/to/e9rzieNu">Book a discovery call</a></p> <p>Special thanks to Rachelle Lane — <a href="https://holdingceremonies.com">holdingceremonies.com</a> — for the conversation.</p> <p>🌐 <a href="https://masteringthought.com">masteringthought.com</a><br> <a href="https://www.youtube.com/@Mastering-Thought">@Mastering-Thought</a></p> <p>#MomentMindfulness #Awakening #Relationships #LionAndUnicorn #MasteringThought #ConsciousRelationships</p>
In 1992, my life came unglued. Los Angeles was burning — the Rodney King riots, my real estate work collapsing, my marriage falling apart. I looked in the mirror and didn't like what I saw. It would never have occurred to me to call a therapist. So instead, every time the anger and the arrogance came up, I asked the mirror: "Show me what I'm not seeing. There's something I'm supposed to be learning here." After months of asking, the answer came — in the form of a mystical awakening that changed everything. That experience is why I became a therapist. Years later I discovered Eckhart Tolle had described an awakening almost identical to mine — in an interview with Dr. James Doty at Stanford. Tolle was depressed and suicidal in his late twenties when he woke one night thinking, "I can't live with myself any longer." And then immediately: wait — there's something wrong with that. I have to live with myself. There must be two of me. That single observation cracked his identification with the voice in his head. In this episode I unpack the hidden moment in Tolle's teaching — the separation between the unhappy "me" and the deeper "I" — and walk you through the exact exercise I use with clients every week to produce the same experience. You don't have to wait twelve years like I did. You don't have to read every spiritual book on the shelf. You just have to notice your next trivial thought and watch what happens. 🔍 Are you an Explorer or an Analyzer? → https://uqt55rov9mx.typeform.com/to/LQ95bMHx 🔍 Take the Lion & Unicorn quiz → https://uqt55rov9mx.typeform.com/to/J3yaPpbo 📞 Book a discovery call → http://uqt55rov9mx.typeform.com/to/e9rzieNu 🌐 masteringthought.com @Mastering-Thought #MomentMindfulness #Awakening #EckhartTolle #Disidentification #MasteringThought #VoiceInYourHead

There is a part of yourself you avoid. Jung believed that hidden side silently shapes your decisions, your relationships, and your identity. In this episode, we break down Jung’s Shadow, not as a trend or buzzword, but as the real psychological process behind:• Why we deny uncomfortable truths about ourselves• How the “shadow” forms in childhood• Ways it shows up in adult behavior• Practical steps to begin shadow work safelyThis is a grounded, clinical look at shadow work, with stories and examples that make Jung’s ideas easy to apply in real life.
We all live under the quiet pressure of “should.”I should be happier.I should be calmer.I should be further along by now.But what if “should” isn’t helping you grow — what if it’s keeping you trapped? In this episode of Mastering Thought, Mark and Kristina explore how the word “should” secretly drives shame, guilt, and self-judgment, and how letting it go opens the door to freedom, presence, and real growth. You’ll learn: • Why “should” is the language of internalized control, not conscious choice • How it pulls you out of presence and creates a constant sense of failure • The subtle way “should” turns growth into performance instead of transformation • How to uncover the childhood patterns behind your “shoulds” • A simple Moment Mindfulness practice to release guilt and reconnect with truth“Every ‘should’ is a leash that pulls you away from who you already are.”
Is the body storing everything your mind can’t process? In this episode of Mastering Thought, we explore the groundbreaking idea that your body acts like a hard drive for the mind — recording emotional experiences, traumas, and memories deep within the nervous system.Join us as we uncover how trauma is stored and retrieved through the body, why talk therapy often isn’t enough, and how massage, craniosacral therapy, and somatic awareness can help release long-held emotional pain.💡 In this video, you’ll learn: • Why the body “remembers” what the mind forgets • How trauma becomes embedded in muscle tension and posture • The science behind somatic memory and the polyvagal theory • Practical ways to access and release stored emotions through presence and awareness • The link between the nervous system, implicit memory, and emotional healingThis isn’t just about psychology — it’s about awakening to the intelligence of your entire being.By the end, you’ll understand why healing isn’t only mental — it’s embodied. The shocking truth about how your body remembersWhy talk therapy often isn’t enoughHow stored trauma shows up as physical pain and tension (Keyword: “body keeps the score”)Understanding implicit memory and the nervous system’s “recording mechanism”What somatic therapy and craniosacral work reveal about body memorHow to begin releasing trauma safely and effectivelyThe role of mindfulness and “moment awareness” in integrationClosing insight: Why healing happens when the body finally feels safe again
Everyone’s searching for the secret shortcut to start their spiritual journey — but the truth is, the journey doesn’t start with meditation, positive thinking, or trying to feel peaceful. It starts the moment you see through thought itself. In this video, Mark Waller, LMFT, and Kristina Black reveal why the real beginning of spiritual awakening is not about feeling better, but about noticing the one who wants to feel better. When you dis-identify from thought, the mind loses its grip, and awareness — your true nature — begins to emerge naturally.👉 In this episode:• Why chasing peace can actually delay awakening• How thought builds the illusion of “me”• The power of moment mindfulness• How emotional triggers become portals to awarenessThe greatest shortcut on the path is the one that ends the seeker.
