What changes when you’ve already built, sold and exited a business… and decide to do it all over again? This week on Getting Shxt Done, we’re joined by Shaun Simons, co-founder of Compton. Shaun started in commercial property at 16 before co-founding Hatton during the credit crunch, selling the business to Colliers in 2016 and spending five years inside the global firm. Then, in 2021 - in the middle of a pandemic and with offices across London half-empty - he launched Compton. We talk about building a business for the second time, working with family, scaling a team, leadership, taking risks and what nobody tells you about the early years of entrepreneurship. Shaun also shares how Compton attributes around 30% of its revenue to LinkedIn, why he’s built such a loud and recognisable personal brand, dealing with criticism online and how founders can actually make content sustainable. Plus, we get into productivity, motivation, money, future exits and what “Getting Shxt Done” means to Shaun. Follow Getting Shxt Done for new episodes featuring entrepreneurs, founders, creators and business leaders sharing the real stories behind their success.

What does it take to build a financial advice business to £400m - and then make the decision to walk away and start all over again? In this episode of Getting Shxt Done, we get into the full story: the early days of building credibility from scratch, the decisions that drove huge organic growth, and the moment it became clear the business had grown into something much bigger. But this conversation goes far beyond the numbers. We talk about what scaling a business really exposes, the pressure of leaving something you've spent years building, and what it feels like to start again when you already know just how difficult the journey can be. We also explore why client relationships will always matter more than the name above the door, what people actually want from a financial adviser, and why trust, empathy and simply being human remain some of the most valuable qualities in business. From leadership and family life to resilience, ego, pressure and how the definition of success changes over time, this is a conversation about the reality behind building something big - and having the courage to do it all again.

This week on the Getting Sh*t Done Podcast, we closed out the season with a proper Christmas Special featuring Keri Ackling and Tom Baker, the duo behind Snow Windows. And to make it even better, Tom painted our logo live in the studio while we recorded. Real Christmas magic. Snow Windows started with Tom painting a single snow scene on a neighbour’s window. No plan, no strategy, just a bit of creativity. That one moment turned into a full-scale business that now works with Disney, John Lewis, Lego, Global, Harvey Nichols, Costa, Audi and more. But behind the festive sparkle is a real story of graft and chaos. Keri and Tom have built something completely unique while juggling family life, raising a daughter who plays pro football at 11 and handling a business where 90 percent of the income arrives in one mad seasonal sprint. From barely keeping up with demand to launching their own products, sprays, stencils and an online snow art course, they’ve gone from “fun Christmas idea” to a brand people recognise across the UK. We covered: How one hand-painted window became the Snow Windows brand The moment Keri realised this could be a real business Growing from neighbours’ windows to national retailers The social media post that blew them up and the ones that flopped Building products, sprays, stencils and their online course The reality behind a seasonal business and how they manage it Family life, teamwork and keeping the magic alive every year 🎧 Watch here: https://youtu.be/2lIJGcMsFOs We'll be back in the new year with Season 2 of the podcast, bigger and better! 🎄 Let’s keep Getting Sh*t Done #Podcast #Entrepreneurship #SnowWindows #ChristmasSpecial #Business #Creativity #FamilyBusiness

What started as 150 hemp shirts sold at a Portobello Market stall has grown into a mission-led menswear brand built on ethics, endurance, and bold marketing - including Charlie completing a full Ironman wearing one of his own hemp shirts to prove its durability. We covered: How Charlie’s travels sparked the idea for Babble & Hemp Why hemp could be the future of sustainable fashion The story behind completing an Ironman in a hemp shirt How a market stall evolved into a growing menswear brand The bold marketing moves that turned Babble & Hemp into a recognisable brand The hardest lessons of building a mission-driven company from scratch If you’re building a product, a brand or you're just passionate about sustainability or mission-led entrepreneurship - this episode is for you.
