A running podcast hosted by Ryan, Dean and Eoin — three sub-elite runners and training partners based in Perth, Australia / Dublin, Ireland. Each week we break down the world of distance running — from training, racing and shoe tech to the stories shaping the sport. Along the way we’re joined by elite athletes, coaches and personalities from across the global running scene. Expect honest conversations, deep dives into performance, a few questionable theories, and plenty of banter from the easy miles. Serious about running, not too serious about ourselves. 1. EDP82: World Ultimate Championships - Jakob wins another 5000m, Kazimierska's Perfect Peak, Kerr is untouchable, Sedjati dethrones Wanyonyi from Easy Double podcast, opens in a new tab

    Sep 15, 20261 hr 58 min

Episode 82 is here and the inaugural World Ultimate Championships delivered. The boys break down a massive three days of racing in Budapest, with huge prize money, stacked fields and some of the best championship-style racing we’ve seen all year. 👑 Jakob is back — Jakob Ingebrigtsen takes down a loaded 5000m field, closing in 12.6 for the final 100m to beat Cole Hocker and an army of Americans. We discuss how the race played out, why none of us picked him and whether we underestimated just how dangerous Jakob remains over 5K. 💰 World Ultimate Championships — Claudia Kazimierska continues an incredible end to the season, Audrey Werro takes another huge 800m win, Gudaf Tsegay’s rivals are caught sleeping in the women’s 5000m and the men’s 800m produces another chaotic finish. We also give our verdict on the new championship format, the enormous prize money, qualification system and whether World Athletics has finally landed on something that works. 🇦🇺 Cam Myers hypothetical season continues — after his incredible end to the year, we ask whether Cam could have mixed it with Jakob and Hocker in that 5000m final. 🗽 Fifth Avenue Mile — Marco Langon takes a huge win in New York in 3:45, Adam Spencer lands on the podium and Gemma Reekie flies to a course record in the women’s race. 🚴 70.3 World Championships — Dean takes us briefly into the dark side as the Norwegian Method boys Christian Blummenfelt and Gustav Iden feature in another ridiculous triathlon battle. 🇮🇪 Irish racing — Eoin takes us through Ratoath and Charleville Half Marathons as Dublin Marathon preparations begin to get serious, including an impressive first half marathon from Road to Dublin’s Bri. 🇬🇧 Great North Run — one of the biggest half marathons in the world delivers another deep field, with plenty of familiar names further down the results. Plus Ryan moves approximately 200 metres across East Perth, wheels a wine fridge down the street while carrying cycling shoes, Dean discovers every recovery contraption known to man, Eoin destroys himself doing sprint drills, and the usual Easy Double fact-checking goes about as well as expected. 2. EDP81: Cam Myers is Diamond League Champion!! / Jakob calls everyone COWARDS / Werro & Wanyonyi win again from Easy Double podcast, opens in a new tab

    Sep 8, 20261 hr 45 min

The Diamond League Final in Brussels was not without any drama. Cam Myers takes arguably the biggest win of his career in a stacked 1500m final, outkicking some of the biggest names in the world — before Jakob Ingebrigtsen lets rip post-race and labels his rivals “cowards”. We break down the race, the pacing controversy and the fallout that followed. Elsewhere, Emmanuel Wanyonyi continues his dominance over 800m, the women’s 5000m produces some seriously quick Australian performances, Jess Hull adds another 3:54 to the collection, and Femke Bol’s reported 4:20/km threshold pace leaves us questioning everything we know about running. Away from Brussels, the Australian road mile record goes down in Germany, Clayton Young publicly announces his plan to attack the American marathon record in Chicago, and two more athletes find themselves on the wrong side of anti-doping. And to finish, Double Trouble returns. Record ratification gets a well-deserved grilling before Ryan ventures into considerably more dangerous territory with a take that might have him checking the Instagram comments with one eye closed… Enjoy! 🎧 Follow Easy Double on Spotify 📸 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/easydoublepodcast/ 🎙️ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/easydoublepodcast Join the Easy Double Club on Patreon for weekly bonus episodes, exclusive training diaries, behind-the-scenes chat and plenty more.

    Aug 25, 20262 hr 2 min

Eoin's Irish debut: 14:01 in Antrim, a HALF MARATHON WORLD RECORD & Diamond League madness It's a huge episode of Easy Double this week as Eoin returns from the Antrim Coast 5K after pulling on the Irish vest for the first time—and delivering a massive performance. We get the full story behind his 14:01 run, from the build-up and race-day routine to mixing it with an international field, closing in 2:43 for the final kilometre and then immediately being whisked away for his first-ever doping control. We break down all of that and plenty more from another massive week in the running world, including: 🇮🇪 Eoin's Irish debut — the emotions of representing Ireland, how the race unfolded and just how close he came to breaking 14 minutes. 🧪 Inside doping control — Eoin reveals exactly what happened after being selected for testing immediately after the finish. 🥤 Bicarb, beetroot, Nomio & caffeine — Eoin talks through his complete pre-race protocol and we discuss how much difference the "one percenters" actually make. 🌍 A ridiculous new half marathon world record — Yomif Kejelcha runs an astonishing 56:51 in Argentina, including a largely solo second half and a negative split. 💎 Diamond League action from Lausanne & Silesia — Femke Bol's incredible transition to the 800m continues, Emmanuel Wanyonyi delivers again and the world's best distance runners battle it out as the season reaches its business end. 🇦🇺 Australian National Cross Country Championships — we break down the brutal conditions, the standout performances and the athletes who impressed us most. 👶 Plus, we try to put an incredible 17:49 5K from a 10-year-old listener's son into some kind of context. 8. EDP78: Jakob is BACK / Almgren 10,000m Masterclass / Dean makes his return to racing from Easy Double podcast, opens in a new tab

    Aug 18, 20261 hr 46 min

It's a bumper episode this week as we break down all the action from the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham —plus plenty happening closer to home for the Easy Double boys. Ryan is back in Perth but unfortunately brings an injury update, with a suspected femoral neck stress reaction putting the brakes on his marathon build. Meanwhile, Dean finally pins a number on again—and casually runs 14:52 at parkrun on his return to racing. Then it's into a huge week of European athletics: 🇳🇴 Jakob Ingebrigtsen is back. After all the uncertainty around his fitness, Jakob produces a brilliant tactical 5,000m victory—and suddenly the Jakob vs Josh Kerr conversation feels very alive again. 🇸🇪 Andreas Almgren's incredible 10,000m. Forget waiting for a kick—Almgren takes on a stacked field from the front, runs 27:23 and completely dismantles the race. We break down the tactics and some inside insight Ryan picked up from Jordan Donnelly before the championship. - 🇮🇪 Mark English finally gets his European gold , delivering another tactical masterclass in the 800m. 🇮🇹 Nadia Battocletti dominates the 5,000m and 10,000m double and further establishes herself as one of the very best distance runners in the world. 🤯 One of the most unpredictable men's 1500m finals you'll see, with Stefan Nillessen taking gold and Andrew Coscoran producing a huge finish for his first major medal. 🏃 Championship marathon carnage on an incredibly tough Birmingham course. 🆚 We debate Josh Kerr's decision to skip Europeans and whether his selective racing approach could ultimately hurt his legacy compared with Jakob's extraordinary championship record. 💉 Plus, another doping case hits athletics and we discuss what it means when athletes are caught through biological passport abnormalities. 🎥 Ryan and Dean share a couple of running watches from the week, including Josh Kerr's Breaking the Mile film, old-school marathon training and why—despite everything that's changed in running—so much remains exactly the same. ⛽ And a look at the maths behind marathon fuelling , why "hitting the wall" isn't quite as mysterious as it once seemed, and how modern fuelling strategies are changing what's possible over 42.2km. Plus the usual training chat, questionable takes and Double Trouble to finish. If you enjoy the podcast, make sure you're following Easy Double on Spotify so you never miss an episode, and leave us a rating—it really helps us reach more runners. 📲 Follow us on Instagram: @easydoublepodcast ⭐ Join the Easy Double Club on Patreon: For just £5 / A$10 per month you'll get: Weekly bonus episodes Exclusive training diaries from Ryan, Dean & Eoin Behind-the-scenes content from races and major championships Early access and extra analysis you won't hear on the public podcast Access to our growing Easy Double community Thanks as always for listening—we hope you enjoy EDP78!

Including a look at some of the other start fields. 🚶 Race walking doping drama —we revisit the Commonwealth Games 10,000m walk after Kenyan athlete Stephen Ndangiri's anti-doping case following an out-of-competition test ahead of Glasgow. 💉 Why would a race walker even take EPO? After giving race walking a hard time last week, we attempt to understand just how much physiology matters once everyone at the top level has mastered the technique. 🤖 Ryan's relationship with ChatGPT gets another mention as the boys wonder whether it's time for a full debrief on his latest training. 😂 Plus the usual Easy Double tangents, questionable athletics knowledge and Eoin discovering that severe sleep deprivation might actually improve his podcasting. 19. EDP68: Rome & Stockholm Diamond League Round Up / Eoin's 5000m Race Review from Easy Double podcast, opens in a new tab

    Jun 9, 20261 hr 53 min

It's hard to keep up at this stage but the lads are back with more race results. First up is the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland 🇫🇮 where there was an extremely stacked 5000m where only half the field finished and a deep 1500m. Next it was the 🇮🇹 Rome Diamond League where M11 Track Club's Georgia Hunter Bell got the win in her season opener while Keely Hodgkinson mixed things up and ran a 400m. In the 5000m, Ethiopia showed their dominance claiming the top 7 spots while Linden Hall from Australia and Sarah Healy from Ireland both got shiny new PBs. Then to 🇸🇪Stockholm where again the fields didn't disappoint. Young American Cooper Lutkenhaus got the win over a star studded line up while another young gun Audrey Werro got a shock win over Keely Hodgkinson in the women's 800m, clocking the third fastest time ever. To conclude the event, Yared Nuguse stole Cam Myers' spotlight and out-kicked the young Australian in an enthralling men's 1500m. You think that's all but it's not. The lads preview the 🇳🇴 Oslo Diamond League where again the fields are ridiculously deep, with the highlight event being the Dream Mile. Eoin talks us through his disappointing 5000m on the track where he learned a lesson or two but was able to take the positives. 📺 In YouTube Diaries we give you guys a heads up on Team Makou's channel as they release a teaser on a series following Ellis Cross's build to the European Marathon later in the summer. 👊 In Double Trouble the lads take aim at head coach ChatGPT and while coach GPT can be helpful, he will never make it as a top coach. All this and so much more in another stacked episode of the Easy Double Podcast. As always we dive into the races, the stories behind them and everything else going on in the running world. 🎧 Listen now on Spotify & Apple Podcasts📲 Follow us on Instagram: @easydoublepod📩 Email: easydoublepod@gmail.com For early release, no adverts & plenty of bonus content, join us at Patreon https://www.patreon.com/c/EasyDouble

    Jun 2, 20262 hr 21 min

Fasten your seatbelts for one of our biggest episodes yet! We've got results from all around the world, starting with the 🇦🇺 Launceston Running Festival, where Australians lit up the roads of Tasmania with some all-comers records. On the other side of Australia, in the gold mining town of Leonora, Pete Bol takes the win and a nugget of gold in what has to be one of the most unique races in the world. Pete also drops by to chat all things Golden Gift and his upcoming track season. On the other side of the world in 🇮🇪 Dublin, Ireland, one of the biggest women's-only races took place as the VHI Women's Mini Marathon took over the city with over 24,000 women taking part. Across the Irish Sea in 🇬🇧 Manchester, UK, the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run attracted some of the world's best athletes, coinciding with the UK Road 10K Championships. Then finally, in 🇲🇦 Rabat, Morocco, some star-studded fields kicked off their season at the Rabat Diamond League. 📰 In running news, the Enhanced Games didn't quite deliver the enhanced results they were looking for. World Athletics also released their entry standards for the 2027 World Championships in China, we break them all down. 👊 A massive downhill road race in Madrid gets this week's Double Trouble treatment, as the lads struggle to comprehend why this is even a thing. It's peak track season in Europe right now, and we look ahead to some exciting upcoming races including the Rome Diamond League, Stockholm Diamond League, and the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland, where Irish, British, and Australian athletes are all set to compete. Sit tight and enjoy this one — it's an absolute belter!
