If money was no option, where would we choose to play in Scotland? Is there really over £1,950 difference between a round at Turnberry and a round at your local municipal? One of the great things of Scottish Golf is the variety and endless possibilities when it comes to different golf courses. This does however bring the question into play, of how far are people willing to go when it comes to playing one of those upper end courses? With some green fees coming in at far over one club's annual membership, we discuss which golfing experiences are over (and under!) valued in Scotland 👀

Today we are talking through one of our new favourites, Dalmuir. The story behind this golf course is incredible, with the local community refusing to let it shut despite plans from the council, leading to a charitable trust and volunteers now running the course. From starting with zero in the bank account to now providing jobs for the local community, it's a great story on how far people will go to save a place they truly love ✨ We had the pleasure of playing Dalmuir just weeks after it reopened, and immediately we could see how important this place is to their members. In a time when a lot of golf courses are struggling, and often facing closure, it prompts a conversation as to what clubs can do to ensure longevity and a successful future ⛳️ Here we talk about the inspiring story of Dalmuir, our favourite feature holes, and what the options could be for the course going forward to ensure it thrives for years to come!

Welcome back to the Greens and Scenes podcast! 🎧⛳️ Today, Cam & G are discussing the 10 courses located in and around St Andrews 🏰 While the Links Trust operate 7 courses, the Fairmont courses (Torrance + Kittocks) and The Dukes (for now) are separate and represent a few extra options for visiting golfers. In the area there are a variety of courses for every level of golfer. The Balgove and Strathtyrum are geared towards more of a beginner golfer or someone who is just getting started. Whereas, many of the other courses represent a stern challenge even to the best players, especially when the wind blows are there is some typical Scottish weather! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 We are so thankful to have such a great variety of courses on our doorstep and if anyone has any questions about the courses discussed, please leave a comment and we will get back to you! 🙌🏼

In today's episode of 'greens & scenes', Cam and G sit down and discuss one of the pillars of Scottish winter golf (the dreaded fairway mat). While it has caused confusion for those not living in Scotland, it is common to see mats out in use on Scottish fairways from November to March each year. Thankfully they will be disappearing soon and summer rules will come back in 🤩 We also discuss G's 1st tournament of 2025: The Old Course in reverse! Over the history of The Old Course, it has regularly been played both ways and, for a weekend in April, it will again be played backwards 🔙 G managed to get lucky in the ballot for the event and will tee it up alongside several other local golfers in a couple of weeks time 👀 As it is the start of the golf season, that means The Masters is around the corner. Cam gives his pick for the 2025 event and it is certainly not a name that anyone would have expected! 🏆

Today on the ‘greens & scenes’ podcast Cam & G sit down (after some spilt coffee) to discuss their 2025 bucket list 🪣 🤩 While golf in Scotland continues to climb to new heights, we are trying to focus on the hidden gems 💎 and diamonds in the rough that exist among the 600 or so golf courses in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 This follows on from an exciting 2024 where we were able to tick a lot of new courses off of our list ✅ Living in St Andrews, we are exposed to championship level courses day in day out so our bucket lists look a little different to normal as we want to focus on new and remote areas of Scotland that we can visit (islands included 👀) As well as all of these new places, we are also looking forward to exploring more of the golf courses located on our doorstep in the Kingdom of Fife 👑 Join us as we discuss our 2025 schedule and make sure to give us your suggestions as to courses we should go and play with our 1 free weekend in the remainder of the golf season! 🙌

In this episode of 'Greens and Scenes' Cam & G chat about a recent round from Cupar Golf Club (also known as the oldest 9 hole golf club in the world). Located within 20 minutes of St Andrews, this historic 9-holer is in a fantastic location for us and the many thousands of tourists visiting the area each year. It is also the 1st new Scottish golf course we have managed to explore in 2025! Opened in 1855, the course has to be taken as you find it. Built on a slope, with the greens sculpted into the hill, it is a challenging short course where precision is very important. Miss the small greens and up & downs are hard to come by! On today's episode of Greens & Scenes, we'll be running through Cam's five main areas to focus on if you want to lower your handicap from around mid-teens, early-twenties, down to single figures. We talk through the importance of working with the right golf coach, course management, getting confidence in a couple stock shots and of course, the mental side of golf, and the things we can do to make it easier. Both Cam & Georgina have had various levels of coaching over the years, bringing us both down to +2 handicaps currently. It's easy to take this for granted at times, and assume everyone knows these areas of knowledge that we've picked up over the years, however, we know that isn't the case for everyone.
