“THIS Album…” with William Hann

Patrick is a Sunderland based indie / folk singer songwriter behind one of my favourite tracks of the year, Resembles Heaven. It’s a track he’s been teasing for a long time and it is finally due for release on the 9th of September. You may recognise him from his viral folk cover of Charl XCX's 360, you can hear all about it on this episode as well as his love of Deerhunter and Mac DeMarco. As anyone that follows me on Instagram will be fully aware, I supported The Libertines on Saturday and DJ's between all the acts. One of those acts was Indoor Foxes! She tore the roof off with her blend of Americana inspired "Girl Rock." Perfect for fans of Wolf Alice and Paramore. I managed to grab a quick interview with her, but sadly my microphones let me down (F you Rode!) so the audio is a bit iffy today. I've fixed it as best as I can, so hopefully you can still enjoy this episode. I supported The Libertines and DJ'd to 8000 people... As is often the case with The Libertines, it was not without incident, so naturally, an emergency podcast feels warranted. For episode 93 I'm joined by the Rat Queen - Riley Pinkerton from Castle Rat! Castle Rat are a five-piece Medieval Fantasy Heavy Metal band from New York, bringing massive riffs and some much needed theatrical chaos to this crazy world. I caught up with Riley just a few days after they completely stole the weekend at this year’s Bloodstock, to dive deep into the music of fellow New Yorkers Type O Negative and their 1996 classic, October Rust We talk the realm, we talk world building and we talk about being gifted DIY recreations of Peter Steele iconic Play Girl cover as a leaving gift from colleagues. Castle Rat are on a full US tour throughout September and October and they have two highly recommended albums available now, 2024's Into The Realm and 2025's The Bestiary.

For episode 91 I'm joined by a genuine indie hero... From the ACTUAL, LITERAL Mystery Jets..... it's Blaine Harrison!!! Mystery Jets really are one of "those" bands aren't they? For over 20 years their music has been a constant in my life and been there to soundtrack the moments of heartbreak, joy, melancholy and everything in between that every Millennial has been through. Now with new album A Hole To See The Sky Through set for release on the 21st of August, there's a new batch of incredible songs that we get to make new memories to. In the episode we talk all about getting Yoko's approval on the absolutely massive sounding new record, touring with Arctic Monkeys on the NME Awards tour in 2006 and we also deep dive the bonkers world of The Coral's debut album. From the actual, literal Ordinary Boys - It's Preston! It was a total joy getting to spend time with Preston to discuss his career to date, being back on the road supporting Madness, his love of Blur's Parklife and a MASSIVE exclusive on The Ordinary Boys upcoming new album. Though I wang on about the MANY time I've cried my eyes out watching Blur, I think I just about kept my indie fan boy levels in check, but in 2006, my fandom was unrivalled!
