The Giants are no more after a wooden spoon season. Instead, they've been rebranded as the Sydney Sirens for 2027. Head coach Nerida Stewart joins the podcast to discuss the transition between owners, how the uncertainty impacted staff and players this year, why they've decided to keep six of their 10 existing athletes when they only won one game, and how they managed to land the big fish (or rather, mermaid) that is New Zealand goal shooter Grace Nweke.
When Australian players Kate Eddy and Lucy Austin found themselves lost without 2027 Super Netball contracts, the Melbourne Mavericks threw them a lifeline and signed them as training partners for the greater good of the game. Head coach Gerard Murphy is entering his second season in charge and shares the thinking behind some of the decisions made during the recent signing period. Gez speaks about privatisation and how it can help players generate more money, publicity and profile. As well as his plans for the shooting, midcourt and defensive areas of the court.
The final player of the 2027 Super Netball signing period has been locked in and all eight teams are finalised. We share our thoughts on the Giants licence being acquired by SEN and their rebrand to the Sydney Sirens. On the unfortunate events that led to multiple Aussie players missing out on playing contracts, like Vixens fan favourite Kate Eddy. And the increase in imports next season with New Zealand’s competition collapsing.
Former Aussie Kelpies captain Dylan Nexhip will be the new head coach of the NSW Swifts next season and now he's finalised his 2027 line-up we thought it would be a great time to catch up and hear more about his vision. Although Dylan was already an assistant coach at the club over the past two years and well known among the fan base, he faced backlash online when his appointment was announced in July. We dive into the criticism he's faced after beating out his predecessor for the position, becoming the third male head coach in an eight-team Super Netball competition, and how he plans to improve a defence end that hasn't been firing. We also discuss their decisions to recruit new faces that will bolster the Swifts roster and help them plan for the future.
The netball action in Glasgow has wrapped up and congratulations are in order for New Zealand after they won Commonwealth gold. Jamaica maintained their silver status from the last Games and Australia has claimed bronze for the first time. We unpack the shock of that semifinal upset and address the confusing commentary from Diamonds fans online. The main talking points from each of the medal matches is also on our radar, as is the success story of the Silver Ferns and how much it means during a tough time for the sport in their country.
Our dominant Aussie Diamonds, the problem with winning, and a dress that caused a stir. We wrap the pool stages at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and hear from player agent Kathryn Deiulio ahead of the 2027 Super Netball signing window.
Ahead of the Commonwealth Games we take a look at the top five world ranked teams and discuss their biggest storylines leading into the major tournament. But there is plenty of interesting talking points happening in netball land in general. Retired Australian Diamond Steph Fretwell has made a shock signing with the London Pulse for next season, the NSW Swifts have a new head coach and the Super Netball CPA negotiations drag on.
Diamonds vice captain Kate Moloney joins the pod ahead of the team's flight to Scotland for the Commonwealth Games. The midcourter reflects how far she has come since the last major tournament four years ago in Birmingham and her hopes for Glasgow. It's also only been a couple of weeks since her Melbourne Vixens lost the Super Netball grand final by a record 21 goal margin so of course we have to ask her about that and it's fun to hear there has been a little sledging in Aussie camp from a certain Adelaide Thunderbirds captain.
Pink never looked so powerful. We are in the middle of the Adelaide Thunderbirds dynasty. What a time to be alive! They easily accounted for the Melbourne Vixens in the grand final, taking their dominance to another level. Their 21-goal victory was the biggest win we’ve ever seen in a Super Netball decider as they claimed their third trophy in four years. We discuss the biggest headlines from the title dance and chat about the launch of the Diamonds Membership offers from Netball Australia.
Elmeré van der Berg has been the buy of the Super Netball season. Here, the Adelaide Thunderbirds goal shooter speaks about her "resting bitch face", what she's learned since moving down under, her hopes for South Africa at the upcoming Commonwealth Games, her search for an Australian husband.
The West Coast Fever’s recent Super Netball preliminary final record leaves a lot to be desired. They’ve lost their last three, so do they have some kind of curse? Meanwhile, we need to give the Melbourne Vixens their flowers because they were absolutely epic in this knockout match. They’ve won themselves the right to defend their 2025 title but the might of the Adelaide Thunderbirds stands in their way. We share our predictions for the biggest game of the year.
Brand new Netball Super League champion and Grand Final MVP Sophie Fawns joins us to reflect on her move to the UK, her very successful debut season with the Manchester Thunder, and how special it was to have her grandad and dad there for the decider. The shooter also speaks about her future career plans, whether she would ever return to the NSW Swifts, and the tricky spot she finds herself in while waiting for the Super Netball CPA to be signed in Australia.
As we say farewell to the Melbourne Mavericks in the title race after their loss to West Coast Fever in the minor semifinal, we still have three teams in contention for the Super Netball trophy. The Adelaide Thunderbirds have secured their grand final spot after beating the Melbourne Vixens by 14 points in the major semifinal; so the Vixens will face the Fever in an upcoming do or die preliminary final. We analyse the weekend's games and discuss the recently named 12 player Diamonds squad, who will travel to Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games.
Karla Pretorius is aiming to make a comeback for South Africa at the Commonwealth Games. WE REPEAT! Legendary Proteas defender Karla Pretorius is aiming to make a comeback in international netball at the Commonwealth Games. We are so excited by this news and everything else Nicol Pappas from Netball Junkie has to update us on now that the 2026 Telkom Netball League has wrapped up and the Crinums have won the trophy. We speak about outstanding performers, prize money and the relegation system.
We are on the countdown to finals as we wrap the 2026 regular Super Netball season. The West Coast Fever locked in a home semi, the Melbourne Vixens have now lost four of their last five games, the Giants FINALLY got to taste victory after 14 rounds and the NSW Swifts simply have too many goal attacks — so who will they sign for next year? There’s also been an update on the ownership of the struggling orange club with two key parties interested in buying their competition licence. We assess the two options on the table and share our thoughts on which may be the most viable choice.
The naming rights partner of the Super Netball league and its two-point shot has pulled the pin on a 10-year sponsorship deal, so are we worried? There has also been some important budget cuts to the Aussie Diamonds’ program for the Commonwealth Games that means the reserves won’t get to travel abroad to help the team prepare for Glasgow. Round 13 results saw the Adelaide Thunderbirds secure the minor premiership and our top four locked in for finals. It’s an exciting time for the Melbourne Mavericks who have never gone this deep in the competition before and we ponder whether they could be the danger team that could shake up the end results.
This week we hear from brand new Aussie Diamonds squad member Jessie Grenvold about her first national selection. How did the conversation go with head coach Stacey Marinkovich? How did her family react? And who does she have to thank for getting her there? We also speak about the Melbourne Mavericks top-four success this season, with the team on the cusp of making their first ever Super Netball finals campaign, and her step by step journey from being a training partner to a full-time contract.
The Australian selectors have made some big calls! On one hand, they’ve been bold enough to name a bolter. On the other hand, they’ve played it safe and shown loyalty to out of form players. Donnell Wallam makes her deserved return and fan favourite Jessie Grenvold gets her first call-up. While omissions Paige Hadley and Kate Eddy are probably right to feel hard done by, questioning what more they could have done. We share our reactions to the Diamonds announcement, before we analyse the games from Super Netball Round 12.
