This week on Spare Parts, Michelle and Evan are back with updates from both sides of the border. Michelle has made it back to Toronto and is settling in for her next job, which she’ll be (legally) allowed to share soon. Evan has found a new gig as a grip and he’s loving it! He also got new cargo pants for the job which is a total bonus. Our hosts answer listener questions about dealing with a narcissistic (burlesque?) boss and, who’s actually wearing Fluevogs? This week on Spare Parts, Michelle and Evan are back and asking the big questions: is it possible to hate-listen to a podcast, who actually invented “let’s do the damn thing,” and how many times can Evan drive between New York and Toronto? They also get into in-person auditions, commercial actors fighting for their lives over the role of Dog Walker, Clementine’s perfect post-surgery report card, and one Vancouver bartender’s bold claim that acting is easy. Then, in Spare Hearts, they answer a listener update about letting go of old relationships, feeling stuck, making bold decisions, and why being brave usually means being scared first. This week on Spare Parts, Michelle and Evan are back and talking about the true horrors of modern life: TikTok followers who may or may not be real, hiding Instagram likes, needing dopamine in the park, and how a surprise top hat can completely change the energy of a party. They also get into Michelle’s ongoing blonde era, Letterkenny hair lore, secret projects, terrible entertainment rollouts, Spider-Man, the emotional threat of a bob, Evan’s callback, and New York rent. Then, in Spare Hearts, they answer a listener question about breakups, rebounds, therapy ultimatums, jealousy, the word “pure". Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week on Spare Parts, Michelle and Evan are coming to you from a very special hotel episode, which means Michelle is fully in her element. They get into hotel life, watching War of the Worlds twice in one night, cowboy boot shopping in Calgary, slutty martinis, movie set dynamics, and the version of yourself that only appears when you’re living out of a suitcase. Then, in Spare Hearts, they answer a listener question about a partner keeping old photos of an ex, the difference between nostalgia and red flags, and whether anyone really needs to memory-wipe their romantic past. This week on Spare Parts, Michelle and Evan are back together and catching up on the important stuff: Michelle shooting a movie, Evan becoming a New Yorker, scary apartment viewings, and the strange pressure of being number one on the call sheet. They also get into phone-free set life, the lost art of in-person auditions, acting better in the room than on tape, and why Evan may or may not be an “alpha killer.” Then, in Spare Hearts, they answer a listener question about a very cinematic opera program romance, a small dating pool, and the emotional aftermath of a big lesbian summer. This week on Spare Parts, Michelle shares some career news as she gears up to start filming a couple of new projects. The industry talk continues with a Haters Corner submission from a singer who’s frustrated by people calling themselves “artists” despite never actually working in the industry. Can delusion be a good thing, like they say online… or is it just lying? Meanwhile, Evan is embracing New York and has launched a “secret” TikTok account documenting his adventures finding blue coffee cups and other fascinating discoveries. It’s not exactly a secret anymore considering he’s announcing it here, but that’s okay. We love ya, buddy. A classic rom-com Spare Hearts question has our hosts weighing in on the complicated feelings that come with watching your best friend get married when you can’t help but feel like you’re falling behind. To wrap things up, Michelle issues a few apologies for things she may (or may not?) have said incorrectly. If she missed anything else, please let us know in the comments so she can agonize over it for the next week! This week on Spare Parts, Evan is settling into his new Brooklyn apartment and soaking up the luxury while it lasts. Is it sustainable? Probably not. But he’s going to enjoy it, damnit. Meanwhile, Michelle’s dad swings by for a classic boomer-style visit, and the East Coast vs. West Coast debate is back after Michelle confidently declares, “I’ve figured out what my culture is.” It involves sand in the bed, and it kind of makes sense… kind of. Our hosts also tackle some Spare Hearts questions about rock climbing situationships and mothers-in-law who refuse to respect boundaries. As always, their qualifications are questionable, but their opinions are not. Follow Michelle! @michellemylett Follow Evan! @evanjstern Follow the show! @sparepartspodcast Rate and review!! This week on Spare Parts, Evan ropes his wife’s entire family into helping him choose the perfect sketches for his SNL audition, while Michelle discovers that maybe the healthiest thing you can do with anger… is actually feel it. Turns out that’s a pretty useful skill for actors, too. They also debate whether reality TV dating stars are genuinely looking for love or just making a savvy career move. After years working on film sets, Michelle and Evan compare production life to reality TV: when you’re living in a bubble, cut off from friends, family, and the real world, feelings can get complicated. If you haven’t figured it out by now, Michelle’s still homebound with Clementine and somehow 20 episodes deep into Love Island. Everyone needs to stop being so “lustful”. Hosted on Acast. This week on Spare Parts, Michelle and Evan catch up after a chaotic few weeks of moving, travelling, and sleeping in dog pens. Michelle’s back in Victoria nursing her beloved dog Clementine back to health while Evan is finally making the move to New York after what feels like years of talking about it. They also dive into Michelle’s cheerleading past after bingeing the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders documentary, share a few thoughts on the upcoming Letterkenny tour, and answer a listener question about cyber stalking. PSA: yes, people can see if you view their stories. Look alive. Follow Michelle! @michellemylett Follow Evan! @evanjstern Follow the show! @sparepartspodcast Rate and review!! It really helps. This week on Spare Parts, Michelle and Evan are joined by actor Adam DiMarco! They open with a friendly voicemail from Jared Keeso, then get into his Letterkenny FOMO, beer league hockey lore, working on The White Lotus, and most recently, Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen. Adam also talks acting process, old Disney Channel days, his friendship with Atticus Mitchell, astrology, theatre dreams, and rescue dogs. This week on Spare Parts, Michelle and Evan are back for a very special Spare Hearts episode, which mostly means answering your questions while torturing themselves with Bean Boozled jelly beans. They get into nightmare roommates, live-in landlords, making friends in your twenties, Letterkenny soundtrack favourites, and what to do when a long-term relationship ends right as your thirties begin. This week on Spare Parts, Michelle and Evan are flying solo with some very important news: Letterkenny Live is back, baby. They get into the newly announced tour, what it feels like to return to the Letterkenny world after a few years away, Canadian audiences needing to bring a little more ruckus, and the possibility of some chaotic tour-bus podcasting. They also spiral into ASMR, why Evan isn't afraid of ghost movies, dying in dreams, and if and how they can keep this podcast going while on the road. Then, in Spare Hearts, their segment where listeners write in for advice, they answer a listener question about a very pregnant best friend, a deeply inappropriate husband, and whether some secrets should be buried or brought directly into the light. This week on Spare Parts, Michelle and Evan cover psychic readings, scammy astrology, tiny heads, writer’s rooms, and the emotional difficulty of saying “I love you” to yourself in the mirror. They get into confidence, self-worth, acting high-status characters, and how Letterkenny accidentally trained everyone to be terrifyingly efficient on set. They also talk about a deeply cursed open-air COVID road trip from New York, Canadian work ethic, actors knowing their lines, and a Haters Corner about bullies becoming wellness girlies. Look alive, people. Don’t let just anyone rub oils on you. Follow Michelle! @michellemylett Follow Evan! @evanjstern Follow the show! @sparepartspodcast Rate and review!! It really helps. This week on Spare Parts, Michelle and Evan are joined in studio by the man, the mountain, the legend: K. Trevor Wilson! They talk Letterkenny, life on the road, stand-up comedy, rowdy crowds, Fan Expo, Kevin Smith, Martin Short, John Candy, and why K. Trevor somehow seems most comfortable commanding a packed theatre. 2 They also get into quitting weed, vivid stress dreams, restaurant nightmares, comedy school, hotel laundry hacks, and the very real danger of using a hotel coffee maker after hearing what some people apparently do with them. It’s a cozy, very Canadian catch-up with one of the best to ever do it. Also, if K. Trevor tells you not to talk to girls like that, you should probably listen. Follow K. This week on Spare Parts, Michelle and Evan are flying solo and immediately get pulled into the deep Ladysmith lore of Sloo-Flirpa, an unhinged elementary school production involving Swedish movie auditions, devastated children, and months of preparation. They also get into Pamela Anderson & Kid Rock at the grocery store, Seth Rogen, New York accents, and secret acting projects. And for their first ever self-Spare Hearts, they talk about working with friends, mixing business with personal relationships, and why even the nicest creative partnerships still need clear conversations, separate interests, and probably something in writing. This week on Spare Parts, Michelle and Evan are joined in studio by the one and only Kamilla Kowal! They get into Kamilla's Letterkenny days, starting the show at 16, strange fan encounters, working normal jobs while being recognized, and what it’s like being perceived online. Kamilla also talks Heated Rivalry, hockey families, reading the source material before auditions, moving through Toronto, crocheting dog collars, and why every creative hobby does not need to become a business. Although, for the record, we would absolutely buy the shorts. Then, in Spare Hearts, they answer listener questions about leaving a toxic friend group, situationships, falling for friends, and why sometimes having one good friend and a dog is more than enough. This week, your 5’6”, hazel-eyed hosts dive headfirst into image, embarrassment, and career mishaps. From a shirtless Instagram post to missing an international flight for a job in London - that’s showbiz, baby! They dig into the world of agents and managers, what representation should look like, and how those relationships shape a career behind the scenes. They also touch on family dynamics, sibling relationships, and getting older in a way that feels more grounded. In Spare Hearts, they answer a listener question about staying connected in a busy relationship, and break down the importance of not immediately assuming everything is falling apart. This week on Spare Parts, Michelle and Evan immediately get into the important stuff: Katy's Letterkenny stage makeup, fake tanning, dermatologist beachwear, and why Evan’s forehead apparently needs sun protection. They also talk wedding budgets, awkward speeches, actors being treated like brides on set, O-1 visas, the return of heavy dubstep, and some truly cursed early-2000s celebrity rumours. Then, in Spare Hearts, they answer a listener question about a relationship that may already be dead, a suspicious best friend, and whether it’s time to rip the band-aid off before summer hits. This week on Spare Parts, Michelle and Evan are joined by actor (and very fashionable man) Corteon Moore! He chats about his role on the hit series Overcompensating and what returning for season two really feels like, then dives into the eerie world of From and his experience on a long-running sci-fi horror series. Corteon also reflects on his early days in the industry-landing kids TV roles, saying yes to everything, and a bizarre project that turned out to be a scam. It’s a candid look at the unpredictable path of building an acting career, and we just loved chatting with him!
