  4. Regenerative Farming and Why Ingredients Matter with Katie Baldwin of Amber Waves Farm

    Aug 27, 202645 min

This week, I’m joined by Katie Baldwin, co-founder of Amber Waves Farm in Amagansett, for a conversation about knowing where our food comes from—and why the way it’s grown matters. Katie shares her unexpected journey from international relations to farming, what regenerative agriculture actually looks like and why better ingredients begin with healthier soil. She takes us through a day in the life of a farmer and opens up about the unique challenges of operating a working farm in the Hamptons, one of the most expensive real estate markets in the country. We also talk about eating seasonally, the true value of locally grown food and the extraordinary amount of work behind the ingredients we often take for granted. And, of course, we get into one Amber Waves ingredient I truly can’t live without: the whole wheat flour they grow and mill right on the farm. 5. Joey Wölffer: The Woman Behind Wölffer Estate Vineyards, on Summer in the Hamptons & Building a Family Brand

    Aug 20, 202644 min

I had so much fun recording this episode at our special Dear Media pop-up studio at LDV at the Maidstone in East Hampton with someone who is truly synonymous with the Hamptons: my dear friend Joey Wölffer. Joey shares the remarkable story of how her father came to America from postwar Germany and transformed Sagaponack potato fields into what would become Wölffer Estate Vineyard. She opens up about joining the family business at just 26, the challenges of taking over something she wasn’t always sure she wanted, and how she ultimately found her own place within her family's legacy. We also talk about the creation of the iconic Summer in a Bottle wines, what it was like to watch rosé become a phenomenon, and why Joey remains devoted to the “real Hamptons”—the local businesses, farming traditions, beaches and community that exist beyond the flashy summer party scene. Joey also shares why giving back to the community that raised her is so important, along with her ultimate Hamptons recommendations—from her favorite beach and lobster roll to the secret ingredient in her perfect spaghetti alle vongole. 16. The History of the American Hamburger with Hamburger Historian, George Motz

    Jun 4, 202645 min

George Motz is a hamburger scholar and the owner of Hamburger America, my favorite place to have a burger in New York City. With the 250th anniversary of America coming up, I thought, "what's more American than a burger?" I had so much fun talking with George about his years of research while traveling the country in search of the best burgers, what he thinks makes a great burger, and learning his tips for making better burgers at home. Fair warning, you're going to be craving a juicy burger after your listen to this episode. Also be sure to check out my YouTube series, It's Not Complicated, this week for a cameo from George, as I make my Logan County Burgers, cooked in a cast iron skillet. May 26, 202656 min

In this episode, I sit down with gynecologist and fertility specialist Dr. Hillary Pearson from Spring Fertility for an honest, eye-opening conversation about IVF, egg freezing, fertility myths, and the emotional realities so many women face when trying to conceive.
