Jim Risch, Idaho’s 28th Senator, is a dedicated public servant who is consistently recognized as one of the most conservative members of the U.S. Senate. Now in his third term in the U.S. Senate, Senator Risch has built a reputation for protecting the Second Amendment, advocating for energy independence, blocking federal overreach, and defending Idaho agriculture and natural resources. Senator Risch serves on five key committees: Energy and Natural Resources, Foreign Relations, Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Intelligence, and Ethics. He also serves as Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. A proud Vandal, Senator Risch received his bachelor’s degree in forestry and Juris Doctorate from the University of Idaho. He began his career in public service when he was elected to two terms as Ada County Prosecuting Attorney. He went on to serve in the Idaho State Senate, where his peers elected him as Republican Majority Leader and President Pro Tempore. Following his time in the State Legislature, Senator Risch was twice elected as Idaho’s Lieutenant Governor. There, Senator Risch’s lifelong efforts to cut red tape and lower taxes distinguished him as a proponent for small businesses and economic development. In 2006, Senator Risch became Idaho’s 31st Governor. As Governor, Senator Risch achieved major tax reform, cutting property taxes by 20%, and secured $100 million for Idaho’s public schools. He also led efforts to effectively manage the state’s roadless areas and directed additional funding to expand Idaho’s nursing programs. Outside of public service, Senator Risch is a rancher, small business owner, and former senior partner of the Risch Goss Insinger Gustavel Law firm. He and his wife, Vicki, have been married for over 50 years. They are the proud parents of three married sons and have nine grandchildren and live on their ranch outside of Boise. Who Is My Neighbor? by David Ripley Executive Director, Idaho Chooses Life Abortion may seem like an issue that doesn't directly affect our lives. Many of us are well past the age in which abortion is a direct, personal matter. And many in the church leadership view abortion as a rather nasty political issue… Best put off because it causes division and conflict… But what does Scripture say? Why is abortion a core threat to the Gospel? Why should we care? What responsibility is it of mine to worry what a stranger might do to her child? This is the essential question put to our Lord in the Gospel of Luke by an expert in the law: “and who is my neighbor?” Jesus answered with the parable of the Good Samaritan. A man was beaten on the road by robbers. A Samaritan… a man estranged from Israel… came upon the wounded stranger. The Samaritan treated his wounds… carried him to an innkeeper and paid for his stay. Jesus asks the young lawyer… which of the 3 men who encountered the victim served as a neighbor? The priest who stepped over him? The Levite who went by on the far side of the road? Or the Samaritan… who took pity on the bleeding stranger? The lawyer had to confess the obvious: the Samaritan was the good neighbor. Jesus concludes the lesson by commanding… “Go and do likewise.” The Apostle Paul tells us in Romans: “love your neighbor as yourself… therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.” James calls this commandment to love the “Royal Law” found in Scripture: Love your neighbor as yourself. Applied to the Abortion Holocaust, it is clear that we, as Believers, do not have a choice. We have a duty to defend that innocent baby threatened by abortion. We have a duty to care for that scared and broken mother. James further writes… “religion that God our father accepts as pure and faultless is this:to look after orphans and widows in their distress….” There it is my brothers and sisters: Clear and unavoidable as recipients of God's mercy… our duty before Him: We must show mercy. We cannot look away from the grave threat posed by Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry. The initiative they're peddling across Idaho would restore abortion on demand in our beloved state. It would renew the victimization of vulnerable women and girls… They seek to resume the destruction of some 2200 innocent babies each and every year… We simply must not accept their evil dominion over Idaho's future. We cannot allow them to drag us back into the darkness of the Roe Era. So… what… exactly… Can YOU do to help us fight this evil? The most important thing… the first thing… is to be in regular prayer. We ask for your prayers in coming weeks… we ask you to be in prayer for Idaho Chooses Life. And for our neighbors. To get our message of hope out to Idahoans… will take a good deal of money. Therefore… we must also ask that you put your faith into action by supporting us financially. Please consider supporting us each and every month during this colossal battle. Let us pray together that the Lord will deliver us from this evil. May He help us to choose Life. And always… “Go and do likewise!” Here We Have Idaho is a local radio show heard on KSPD 790 AM and 94.5 FM at 4pm on Wednesdays and Fridays. Blaine Conzatti serves as the President of Idaho Family Policy Center. He has established a proven track record of achievements in the family policy movement—including successfully drafting and championing the ‘Heartbeat’ bill, the “No Public Funds For Abortion Act,” and “Children’s School and Library Protection Act.” He also directed the effort to mobilize the conservative grassroots in support of the first-in-the-nation “Fairness in Women’s Sports Act” protecting girls’ high school and college sports. When he was nineteen years old, Blaine first encountered the saving grace of Jesus Christ, and subsequently left a career as an aspiring rock and jazz musician so he could study theology, government, and economics at Liberty University. Blaine soon learned that God’s truth impacts every area of life, and he quickly developed a passion for helping Christians fulfill the cultural commission to advocate these biblical truths in the public square. He has since earned a Juris Master (J.M.) from Liberty University School of Law. Before joining Idaho Family Policy Center, Blaine previously worked for one of our allied state organizations, Family Policy Institute of Washington. Additionally, he spent several years teaching humanities, theology, and apologetics courses at a classical Christian high school in Fairfax, VA. He and his wife, Anna, enjoy raising their family in beautiful Treasure Valley. Here We Have Idaho is a local radio show heard on KSPD 790 AM and 94.5 FM at 4pm on Wednesdays and Fridays. The White Rose Resistance https://thewhiterose.life/ The White Rose Resistance is a national movement committed to confronting the silence of the American church on abortion and inspiring action. Founded by Seth Gruber, The White Rose Resistance is reviving the mission of Hans and Sophie Scholl, who fearlessly condemned and exposed the actions of the Third Reich. Sophie Scholl’s passion and resolve inspired Seth to fulfill her vision: to prick the collective conscience of the culture, awaken the church to action, and build the army of Christian resistance that Hans and Sophie dreamed of. The White Rose Resistance was launched after the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022. 80 years after Hans and Sophie’s execution, America finds itself facing the same evils and same apathy today. Understanding that abortion and the sexual revolution are all a proxy war for a much deeper spiritual war, The White Rose Resistance is building up a new generation of pro-life warriors dedicated to truth and the sanctity of life.
