Hiiii besties! Today on the podcast we are discussing ADHD and social media/phone addiction. We share our theory as to why ADHDers often find their communities online, why we get stuck in dopamine DOOM SCROLL loops. We talk about how we are attempting to create digital boundaries for ourselves (while still being kind to our ADHD brains) and what might help us to get a bit more of our time back from Marky Mark Zuck and his sneaky ways. 🫠 Ireggy Seggy (tiiiimeeee): We almost reignite top sheet-gate as we ask each other the important ‘living together’ questions that every pair of besties needs to iron out if they want to go on a trip together. Thankfully we agree that toilet paper must be over (obviously) and Grace even treats us to an explanation of the aerodynamics. 🤌 RECS: Grace recs a genius phone shortcut and her fave binaural scientific sleep music Tara recs a podcast called Boring history for sleep Don’t forget you can WATCH this episode as a video podcast on YouTube We will be back in your diabolically stunning little neurodivergent ears in two weeks time. Hi Bestiessss – It’s another SPECIAL throwback episode from the early days of our PATRE0N! This episode is juicy AF and is packed with friendship dilemmas and vulnerable conversations about ADHD that we know so many of you will relate to. First up, we answer a Patreon listener question: Grace shares a bit about her AuDHD diagnosis journey (and what that’s looked like over time). Tara talks through her own exploration of neurodiversity and why she feels she sits more in the ADHD-only camp. DIVERGENT DILEMMAS: 💌 “My friend needs time to decide whether she wants to continue our friendship and I can’t handle the rejection.” - We talk about our old babe Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD), friendship limbo, and why ghosting hits differently when you’re neurodivergent. - We also discuss why women with ADHD are way more likely to experience emotional highs and lows in friendships – and how we can soften the shame and start building safer emotional habits. 💌“Help! When I’m not nearby friends and family, I find it impossible to stay in contact.” - Classic ‘out of sight, out of mind’ struggle! - We chat about the emotional spiral that comes from not replying, plus gentle hacks to help you stay connected even when your brain is on ✨airplane mode✨. Hiii neurodivergent dreamboats 💖 We have a special treat for you today - a full episode straight from our Patreon vault... if you've ever wondered what an ADHD diagnosis is like, or if you're going through the process yourself right now, this ep is for you! A year ago our little Gracie-babe went to see a psychiatrist to get diagnosed with ADHD. She'd been diagnosed 18 months before by a psychologist, but she needed to get re-diagnosed with a psychiatrist to get meds. Because the appointment was in the city (a 3 hr drive away) Tara body-doubled with Grace and drove her there... and they recorded a 'diary' documenting all the emotional rollercoaster feels before, during and after the appointment. Want more unfiltered eps like this? Join our Patreon community In this episode: Grace shares her raw emotions the night before her diagnosis, audio-diary style We debrief what happened in her psychiatrist assessment - the surprises, awkwardness and frustrating moments What starting stimulant medication was like in the first few months, and the differences she noticed in her brain/body Grace reflects on her anxiety and the traits she now identifies as AuDHD (but didn't at the time of her ADHD diagnosis), and how medication has impacted those Grace shares the early side effects she experienced on ADHD stimulant medication, including low appetite and weight loss, and why that can be a risk for people with ARFID We love you guys, and don't you dare RSD! Hiiiiiiii ADHD bestie BABES! Today we're sharing the recording of our VERY FIRST live podcast event (a few weeks ago) where we celebrated the launch of Grace’s book The ADHD Focus Friend ... AND reaching the amazing podcast milestone of 250K downloads! We had such a wonderful time meeting some of our gorgeous listeners in person and we can’t wait to meet more of you in the near future! We discuss Grace’s book The ADHD Focus Friend and why it's different to traditional productivity tools because it's designed for inconsistency, demand avoidance and messiness. Grace explains how the book design reduces the load on working memory and why productivity is connected emotional regulation and nervous system regulation. We get the tea on what she DIDN’T want to put in the book and why, as well as answer questions around PMDD, parenthood, working memory, RSD and so much more. RSD corner: Tara is RSDing that you can't see her making finger quotations when uses the phrase "acting normal" in reference to ND kids , but pls know she is. Sending you allll the love and if you RSD we will just be exceptionally mad so don’t plz Lots of loveeeee Tara and Grace! Xxx ---------------------------- 🦋 WANT MORE ADHD BESTIES? Hello tiniest ADHD babies 💁♀️ WE ARE OFFICIALLY BACKKKK TO OUR LIVE WEEKLY EPS!! (Grace has been away on holiday for 3 weeks and Tara has been a shell of a human without her, obvs) This week we're bringing you an interview with content creator and AuDHD advocate Emma Llewellyn ( @emmasmindovermatter ) all about PMDD - which is pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder. This topic is one that we get asked about often, so we wanted to do a deep dive with Emma, who raises awareness about PMDD frequently on her Instagram, and is always so real, raw and honest. PMDD is a disorder that causes psychological and physical symptoms in the days and weeks before a person gets their period (the luteal phase). People who have ADHD are more likely to have PMDD than those who do not, possibly due to especially low levels of dopamine relating to ADHD. We discuss: • how it feels to have PMDD and how it can impact our lives, moods, relationships, jobs, energy levels and more • how Emma realised she had PMDD and her journey being diagnosed • how PMDD exacerbates emotions like rage, anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, low self-esteem and shame • what 'PMDD survival mode' feels like and how communicating our needs to our partners or friends can reduce resentment and blame • the dysphoric aspect of PMDD means you barely recognise yourself during the luteal phase (which can feel quite scary/like a loss of control), and this can be very confusing and disheartening • More information on PMDD & support here RECS 🤌 • Tara is recommending a show called 'Please Like Me' , written by Josh Thomas and featuring comedians like Hannah Gadsby. The dramedy tackles sensitive topics like mental health and neurodivergence while also being v. funny. • Grace is recommending a Netflix show she can’t stop bingeing called ‘The Lady’s Companion’ which is essentially what you’d get if Bridgerton and Jane the Virgin had a baby. 👼 We will be back in your DIVINE little neurodivergent ears next Thursdayyyy, and until then don't RSD (especially when you have PMDD bby girl 💣💥) G-baby and Ta xx ---------------------------- 🦋 WANT MORE ADHD BESTIES? Hello stunning little neurodivergent brains On the pod this week Grace is guilt peeing and panic flushing... meanwhile Tara is finally not bogarting the eventful weeks, and ALSO she does like musicals and needs everyone to know it. 🦋 JOIN OUR PATREON COMMUNITY for extra subscriber-only episodes every week and the BEST community ever!! 💌 Dilem lem lem: “I feel like due to being ADHD, I’m behind in life and not achieving milestones other people are. Have you girls ever felt like this? Will I ever catch up?” We discuss: ADHDers/neurodivergent people often take unique paths, and that's okay. Why comparing ADHDers to neurotypical milestones is unhelpful. Why getting your driver's license can be an overwhelming thing for ADHDers. We MUSE 🤔 that ADHDers may own fewer homes or be less financially set by 40, but do we avoid midlife crises? Embracing the person we are now, separate from our underdeveloped prefrontal cortex days. 🤌 RECS: Tara is recommending at-home clothes dye (in the washing machine - sooo ADHD friendly) Grace is recommending getting the app for your TV remote (because she's losing hers constantly) We also mention 'Top 5 regrets of the dying' by Bronnie Ware 🦋 Ireggy Seggy: RSDelightful (Part 2!) Hi tiny little ADHD babes, In today’s episode, Grace is forcing Tara to do her recommendation in a Kiwi accent even though she's in the throes of PMDD (cute). We discuss important subjects: like “what ARE the cakes in men’s urinals made out of?” and "public proposals, sweet or stressful?". Meanwhile, Grace shares an inattentive moment that she's still spiralling about (spoiler: her leather couch is NOT okay 🫠) 💌 DIVERGENT DILEMMA: “I get why my ADHD makes me binge eat when I’m sad, but why do I binge eat even when I'm HAPPY?!" We discuss: ADHD & Emotional Eating – Understanding why ADHDers use food for emotional regulation and sensory input. Sensory Needs & ADHD – How food provides vestibular and proprioceptive system input for neurodivergent brains. Blood Sugar & ADHD Symptoms – Why stable glucose levels help mood, focus, and prevent binge eating. Impulsive Eating & ADHD – Managing erratic eating patterns and emotional food cravings. Women with ADHD & Eating Habits – How dysregulation affects appetite, fullness cues, and nutrition. Food as ADHD Self-Regulation – Identifying foods that support sensory and emotional balance. ADHD, Binge Eating & Overeating – Why even when life is good, ADHD brains can still struggle with food. 👻 IREGGY SEGGY: The H in ADHD stands for history We discuss the anarchy that would ensue if ADHDers were present at key historic moments like the moon landing, the Trojan horse and invention of the printing press. 🤌 RECS: Tara: Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont Spelling Bee Grace: Cancer Council Face Day Wear CC Cream Sunscreen SPF 50 Sending you all of the don’t RSD vibes. Hellloooo besties In today's ep Grace is doing unimportant author-y things like promoting her chart topping book while Tara is doing genuinely important things like avoiding washing her colander. Tara gives insight into why ADHD medication is very personal and specific to each person and why it's a journey not a destination for her. 💌 DIVERGENT DILEMMA: “My mum doesn't believe I have ADHD and she has to fill out my ADHD assessment form for my psychiatrist" We cover: Generational ADHD Gaps – why older generations dismiss neurodivergence. ADHD Stigma & Myths – outdated views affecting diagnosis. Parental Doubt & Gaslighting – handling family skepticism. ADHD & Mental Health - changing views on neurodivergence. ADHD Diagnosis Process – how it varies by location. ADHD & AuDHD Assessments – getting diagnosed despite resistance. Self-Advocacy in Diagnosis – moving forward without family support. ❤️ Link to write in your "IT FINALLY CLICKED" moment (about the moment that your support person finally understood your ADHD). Click here to read about the WA Labour Party's promise about GP diagnosis of ADHD. 🤌 RECS: Tara: Gives an update on Kiss Nails and introduces us to Goblin Tools . Grace: Recommends big fat keyrings like these . 👻 IREGGY SEGGY: How long does it *actually* take to put fuel in your car or read a book? 🤔 (and to that we say, what kind of book, how long, what's your average reading speed, will you be interrupted?) We attempt and fail to answer this and many other questions as we put our time inattention (previously referred to as time-blindness) to the test. We will be back in your GNEs* next THURSDAY! Until then just even try to RSD, we'll find you, and we will HUG it out of you. Ta and sweet little baby G xxxxx ---------------------------- 🦋 WANT MORE ADHD BESTIES? Hi bestiessss On todays episode, Tara’s out of meltdown and is a bit more organised* *she’s doing HIGHLY profound things like sewing pants and brandishing bobbins with Chloe Wilder (Listen to Chloe’s ADHD island here) , Meanwhile Grace is taking her journals on a little beach trip (don’t worry she asked them first) in her bid to stay unperceived and allowing herself to be indulgent about meeting her needs. 🫣 RSD corner: Tara completely messed up on the style episode “Alice Bornstein” is actually called ALLISON Bornstein (click here to see her Instagram for sensational fashion advice) . We also discuss why ADHDers remember so many details when it’s a hyperfocus but can’t remember someone’s name. 😻 Gorgeous Kate from the UK teaches us how to RSD about whether your cat loves 1. You, 2. Your partner or 3. Their cat tree more Important note: She is adorable and we’re obsessed with her 💖 💌 DILEMMA OF THE WEEK: Nille from Norway asks: "do you have any techniques for when you’re out and about and want to calm your excitability and hyperactivity down in social situations?" We discuss: ✅ How cultural attitudes towards ADHD impact self-advocacy ✅ Whether telling people about ADHD & RSD upfront can help communication ✅ The balance between masking for safety vs. embracing your true self ✅ How ADHD stimulant medication, movement techniques & support groups can help socialising If you’ve ever struggled with feeling “too much” in social settings, this episode is for you, baby girl! 🥳 Ireggy seggy TIIIIME! This week we play "RSDelightful" - a new segment where we read out RSD moments submitted by YOU GUYS and discuss... because we haaaard relate. We also get caught up in a deep dive no one asked for on why ADHDers might struggle with competitiveness while playing games - who knew we had so much to say? 🤌 RECS: We forgot to do them - VERY on brand 🫠 ✨ We’ll be back in your cute little neurodivergent 👂s next Thursday. Oh HIII, bestie babes! In today's episode, we're ADHD-ing all over each other, and Tara is sick of people feeling bad about oversharing. Oversharing is the new sharing. Okay??? Good. 💌 DILEMMA OF THE WEEK: Nick asks: "I don't understand the difference between ADHD / AuDHD meltdowns and shutdowns! Can you explain?" We’re recording this episode just an hour after Tara had an ADHD meltdown—because she wants to show you what an ADHD meltdown actually looks like. Have you ever felt extremely disconnected, flighty, unfocused, anxious, or struggled to speak or make eye contact? You may have been experiencing an ADHD or AuDHD meltdown or shutdown. In this episode, we: Define how meltdowns and shutdowns feel for each of us in the context of ADHD and AuDHD—physically, socially, and psychologically. Explain how they differ and share our personal experiences. Break down triggers (sensory overload, emotional overwhelm, executive dysfunction). Talk about what helps us and what support people can do. ✨ RECS: Tara is recommending @femalephysioco for an ADHD-friendly way to schedule pelvic floor exercises. Grace is recommending the book What I Mean When I Say I’m Autistic by Annie Kotowicz. Also, don’t forget to check out the AuDHD chat and other resources in our 🦋 Patreon community! 🦋 We’ll be back in your absolutely stunning 👂 ’s next Thursday. Hi bestiesssss This week Tara will apparently do anything for a Dorset accent and Grace is asking for advice on whether she needs new beauty products, however the only answer she will accept is a resounding and supportive yes. We have a lot of fun introducing our new segment 🫠 RSD corner 🫠 where an RSD shared is an RSD halved. A lovely listener sent us an email with some recommendations including: The Samsung digital door lock Our ADHD emoji texting code We discuss ADHD stimming (self stimulatory behaviour), self soothing with ADHD and pharmacogenomic testing a type of genetic analysis that looks at an individual's DNA to predict how they will respond to certain medications and potential side effects or a particular dosage. ✨ RECS: Tara: (pre-rec*) Kiss Impress press on nails 💅 Grace: Vista HD wall Projector 📽️ 💌 DILEMMA OF THE WEEK: Karen asks "I feel like I use up so much mental energy choosing clothes every day and I need your help with organization and gamification" We LOVE this question, and cover: ✔️ Shortcuts for choosing outfits easily ✔️ Apps for styling and cataloguing outfits ✔️ Photo guides for daily outfit inspiration ✔️ Demand avoidance around outfit choices ✔️ Balancing comfort, style, and personality in clothing ✔️ Style versus fashion: What’s the difference? ✔️ Creating a ‘uniform’ for different occasions (casual, corporate, special events) ✔️ Allison Bornstein’s 3-word method for describing your style (practical, aspirational, emotional) ✔️ Why seasonal wardrobes & de-cluttering are essential for ADHD/AuDHD brains ✔️ Organizing wardrobes in a way that's neuro-affirming for ND brains Ireggy Seggy: The dreaded PIG in the middle, where in true ADHD fashion Grace forgets what game we’re playing and zones out (we’re so sorry guys) then tells Tara she's fired from the podcast when the dysregulation catches up with her 🫠 Don't forget to: SEND US YOUR 3 WORDS TO DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE!
