Starting something is often the easy bit. You launch the podcast, start the newsletter, decide you’re finally going to show up consistently on Instagram… and at first, it all feels exciting. But what happens when the novelty wears off? In this short solo episode, I’m sharing what more than 1,000 rides on my Peloton bike have unexpectedly taught me about visibility, consistency and why some habits stick while others quietly disappear. We talk about why commitment matters, how to make showing up feel less like a huge job hanging over you, and why visibility gets so much easier when it simply becomes part of how you run your business. If you’ve ever started a new visibility habit full of enthusiasm and then found yourself wondering why you stopped, this episode is for you. In this episode, we talk about: Why starting is often the easiest part The difference between consistency and repetition How to make visibility feel easier and more sustainable Why your visibility strategy should be allowed to evolve What exercise and visibility have surprisingly in common Find out more about The Visibility Workshop on 8th October in Farnham, Surrey Join the Brave waitilist - running again in October 2026 Connect with Vicki: Take the visibility archetype quiz Follow me on Instagram : @iamvickiknights Check out my website Ready to work together? Why does something as simple as posting online, sending an email or sharing your work sometimes feel so much bigger than it should? In this solo episode, I’m sharing what I witnessed inside the first round of Brave, my two-week visibility experience, and the powerful pattern I noticed across more than 70 business owners. So many people arrived feeling like they were the problem. Like they were overthinking again, procrastinating again, getting in their own way again, or somehow failing at visibility because it didn’t feel easy. But what if visibility feeling hard doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you? In this episode, I talk about the mental load that can build around even the smallest visibility actions, why we so often turn that struggle into a personal failing. I share the two things I noticed that seemed to help people move from circling around the thing to finally taking action - and why one of them surprised me more than I expected. If you’ve ever had a post sitting in drafts, an email you keep putting off, an offer you haven’t shared, or a story you know you want to tell but can’t quite bring yourself to say out loud, this episode is for you. Because maybe the question isn’t, “What’s wrong with me?” Maybe there’s a much more useful place to start. Listen to this episode if: You’ve ever felt like visibility should be easier than it is. You find yourself circling around simple actions for far longer than the action itself would take. You’re tired of calling yourself inconsistent, flaky or your own worst enemy. You’ve been doing lots of inner work, but still feel stuck when it comes to showing up. You want a kinder, more useful way to understand why visibility can feel so exposing. In this episode, I’m joined by the brilliant Nicky Denson-Elliott, professional feminist, community builder, writer, podcaster and founder of The Wilder Collective and Wilder Live. Nicky’s work sits at the intersection of feminism, creativity, and business – and it helps women turn intention into momentum and ambition into action. In this conversation, we talk about Nicky's research project that she undertook last year called “Good Girl Economics” and how the pressure to be liked, fair, reasonable and not “too much” can shape the way women show up in business. We explore why visibility can feel risky, why undercharging is often about so much more than confidence and how internalised misogyny can show up in the way we judge ourselves and other women. This is such a powerful, thought-provoking conversation about pricing, visibility, people-pleasing and the hidden cost of trying to be the “good girl” in business. In this episode, we talk about: Why women often undercharge and overdeliver The connection between pricing, visibility and people-pleasing Why being visible can feel unsafe How internalised misogyny can show up in business What it really means to support other women And why being “full of yourself” might actually be something to celebrate Connect with Nicky: Instagram: @nickydensonelliott The Wilder Collective website Podcast: Women’s Business with Nicky Denson Elliott Connect with Vicki: Take the visibility archetype quiz Follow me on Instagram : @iamvickiknights Check out my website Ready to work together? Most business owners assume they need to feel more confident before they can become more visible. But what if confidence isn’t really the problem? In this solo episode, I explore what may actually be sitting underneath your reluctance to share your opinions, speak on camera, pitch yourself for opportunities or step into the spotlight. Because you might feel completely confident in the work you do, while still worrying about what showing up will make other people think about you. Will they think you’re arrogant? That you’re showing off? That you’ve got too big for your boots? I share how our past experiences can quietly teach us that being visible, loud or “too much” isn’t safe, and how our brains create clever protective patterns to help us avoid judgement. We’ll look at why perfectionism, endless preparation, waiting for the right time and championing everyone except yourself may not be character flaws at all. They may simply be ways of protecting yourself from being truly seen. This is exactly the kind of work we’ll explore inside Brave , my new 2 week audio experience for business owners who want to understand what’s really holding them back from showing up. Rather than forcing yourself through another exhausting visibility challenge, you’ll receive a short, powerful audio each day, grounded in evidence-based positive psychology and designed to fit easily around your life. Brave begins on 22 June 2026 and this is the lowest price it will ever be. Find out more and join us here. After a planned 2 month break from the podcast and actively showing up, I’m back with an honest episode about what happened when I stepped away from marketing my business. For the first time in over 15 years, I wasn’t consistently posting or actively promoting my work. I wanted more headspace to support my boys through their exams and to create something new behind the scenes. In this episode, I’m sharing what happened to my enquiries, list growth and visibility habits during that break, and why when we say “I don’t have time to be visible” it's often not the full story. Because yes, life is busy and we don’t all have the same capacity or circumstances. But if you’re running a service-based business, visibility matters. It’s how people find you, remember you and decide whether they trust you. And often, when we say we don’t have time, what we really mean is that something about showing up feels harder than we want to admit. In this episode, I talk about: What happened when I took 2 months away from showing up What happened to my enquiries and audience growth over the 2 months What's really hiding behind “I’m too busy” Why visibility is a non-negotiable part of running a service-based business Join Brave , my new evidence-based experience which goes underneath the usual visibility advice - to help you understand what’s really stopping you from showing up and start taking braver visibility action. This is my final episode before I take a planned 2 month break from the podcast and social media. And it felt important to leave you with something that’s been on my mind a lot recently… Because after lots of conversations about visibility - at events, with clients, and behind the scenes — I started noticing a pattern. Something we don’t talk about enough. The part of showing up that no one really sees. In this episode, I share: why visibility can feel harder than it looks what might be missing when it feels like no one’s responding and the one shift that could completely change how showing up feels There’s also something I’ve been reflecting on about comparison… and how easy it is to misunderstand what’s really going on behind someone else’s success. Before I take this break, this is the reminder I want to leave you with. A small invitation.... if someone came to mind while listening to this episode… Send them a message. Tell them what you appreciate about how they show up. You never know the impact that might have. 👀 Coming soon When I return, I’ll be sharing something new to help you feel braver and more confident in how you show up . Consistency is one of those things we hear about all the time in business. But what does that actually look like in real life… and does it have to mean showing up every single day? In this episode, I’m joined by business coach Joanna Lott, who is known for her refreshingly honest approach to helping coaches get clients without hype. Jo is also the host of the top 2% globally ranked podcast Women in the Coaching Arena , and has built a business rooted in integrity, strategy, and consistency. Jo is incredibly consistent with her marketing. She shows up every single day and releases a podcast episode every week. I wanted to find out how she manages to do this around her business, her family and her life. This episode isn’t about telling you to post every day. It’s about understanding what consistency looks like, what it really takes, and how to make it work for you. In this episode, we cover: How Jo became known for her consistency - and what’s really behind it One thing Jo does to make her content feel easier and more authentic The mindset shifts that helped her go from avoiding visibility to embracing it Why even experienced coaches need support when it comes to showing up How your business model should shape your visibility strategy Mentioned in this episode: -Episode 36: How visible do you really need to be in your business? -Episode 25: Why staying consistently visible feels so hard Joanna Lott's website Grab Jo's free 2026 digital Coaches planner Connect with Vicki: Take the visibility archetype quiz Follow me on Instagram : @iamvickiknights Check out my website Ready to work together? Some days you want to launch a podcast, pitch a TED talk and write a book. Other days you just want to stay in your comfies and hide from the world. If you've ever had one of those days, or weeks, this episode is for you. Because not feeling like showing up doesn't make you lazy, unmotivated or bad at running a business. It makes you human. And there's a difference between genuinely needing to rest and letting self-doubt quietly talk you out of something that could actually make you feel better. In this episode, I'm sharing what I actually do on those days when the inspiration just isn't there - and the mindset shift that changes everything for me when I'm feeling resistant. In this episode I talk about: Why the world needs to hear from kindhearted, thoughtful business owners right now more than ever Three practical strategies for those days when you're just not feeling it Why batching doesn't mean what most people think it means - and how to do it in a way that actually suits how you're wired The reframe that shifts visibility from feeling like a chore to feeling like a privilege This isn't about pushing through and white-knuckling your way to consistency. It's about building a relationship with visibility that feels sustainable, joyful and true to you, even on the hard days. Want to go deeper? Episode 36 - How Visible Do You Actually Need To Be? -is the perfect companion listen. In this episode I’m joined by founder of Bright Sky HR and host of podcast HR Coffee Time, Fay Wallis and we’re talking about what happens when you turn your expertise into something tangible. Fay is the creator of the Essential HR Planner, a beautifully designed physical planner that has become widely recognised in her industry. She now sells over 1,000 copies a year. But this conversation is not about glossy success stories. It’s about what it really takes to build something physical in a digital world. We talk about the emotional ups and downs, the stress, the learning curves, the evolution year by year and why creating a tangible product can position you in a way that content alone sometimes cannot. If you’ve ever thought about writing a book, creating a planner, launching a journal or packaging your expertise into something people can actually hold in their hands, this episode will give you a grounded and honest perspective. We talk about: How Fay went from a simple 19-page PDF to a nationally recognised hardback planner The difference between revenue and authority when it comes to tangible products Why physical products can build trust and credibility in a powerful way The emotional reality of launching something annually How a product can quietly become the thing you’re known for This conversation is a reminder that visibility isn’t always about being louder online. Sometimes it’s about building something meaningful and letting that speak for you. Visibility isn’t one-size-fits-all, even though the internet often makes it sound like it is. In this episode of Showing Up , I’m unpacking the four different Visibility Archetypes and why understanding yours can completely change the way you show up in your business. After working with thousands of business owners through photography, coaching, retreats and masterminds, I kept noticing the same thing: two people could follow the exact same visibility advice and have wildly different experiences. One would feel confident, grounded and aligned. The other would feel exposed, awkward or like they were performing. That difference isn’t about willpower, confidence or knowing how to “do” social media properly. It’s about how you’re wired to show up. In this episode, I talk about: Why generic visibility advice so often falls flat The patterns I kept seeing in how people respond to being visible What’s really going on beneath the surface when visibility feels hard The four visibility archetypes and the hidden blocks that come with each one How this all links back to my SEEN framework and showing up in a way that feels sustainable Most people don’t sit neatly in just one archetype. We move between them depending on the season we’re in, our confidence levels and what’s going on in our lives. The real value isn’t in labelling yourself, but in understanding which pattern is driving your decisions right now, and what that means for your consistency, confidence and clarity. If visibility has ever felt exhausting, confusing or like you’re doing all the “right” things but still not getting the results you want, this episode will help you see why. What if you're not 'bad at networking' - you're just doing it your way? In this episode, I'm joined by VA agency founder, Lauren Hopkins for an honest conversation about in-person visibility, networking nerves, and what actually happens when you show up as yourself rather than trying to perform. Lauren also shares her experience of coming on my Visibility Retreat two years ago and how it transformed her relationship with visibility. Find out more about The Visibility Retreat here: https://vickiknights.co.uk/business-retreat-entrepreneurs-uk We talk about the difference between surface-level connections and deeper ones, why you don't have to "work the room" and how to make sure a networking event is warm and welcoming. This episode is especially for you if: networking leaves you questioning whether you're doing it "right" showing up in person feels more draining than posting online or you're quietly wondering if visibility can look different It's a thoughtful, reassuring conversation that challenges the idea that visibility has to look loud or performative, and reminds us that showing up in person can be powerful, even when it feels uncomfortable. I've now recorded 50 episodes of Showing Up , and for my first episode of 2026, I wanted to take stock and reflect on what this podcast has taught me so far. This is a solo episode where I share the three biggest lessons that have come up again and again through conversations about visibility, confidence, and being seen. Lessons that I've learned not just from my guests, but from showing up myself, month after month, long after the initial shine wore off. I also pull back the curtain on where I'm at personally and professionally, why presence is my word for 2026, and how that's shaping some of the choices I'm making this year, both in my business and at home. If you're not looking forward to the thought of showing up more in 2026, this episode is for you. In this episode, I talk about: What consistency really looks like once the novelty fades Why clarity makes fear feel quieter How finding your way of showing up makes visibility sustainable Why confidence is built through action, not before it Why presence matters so much to me this year Connect with Vicki: Follow me on Instagram: @iamvickiknights Take my new Visibility Archetype quiz: https://vickiknights.co.uk/quiz Website: https://vickiknights.co.uk Ready to work together? This week I'm joined by Oli Cooke, a Mindset and Performance Coach who helps driven entrepreneurs create success without all the internal side effects. After living with anxiety for most of his life, Oli now supports business owners to grow in a way that actually feels good, not just looks impressive. In our conversation we dig into visibility, courage and the messy human bits underneath growth. Here are some of the topics we talk about: what it really takes to do the thing even when fear is coming along for the ride why busy work feels safe - and how to spot when you're hiding behind it how to shift the focus from "How do I sound?" to "Who might this help?" why not every shiny opportunity is meant for you and a surprisingly grounding conversation about AI… and whether it's actually saving time or just swallowing it If you're standing on the edge of something bigger - a talk, a pitch, a new level in your business - you're going to love this conversation. Have you been pitching to guest on podcasts but only getting crickets in return? After 7 years of hosting two podcasts and receiving hundreds of pitches, I've seen exactly why some guests get an instant yes… and why others get an instant delete. And it's rarely the reason people think. In this episode, I'm sharing the real reasons pitches get ignored - the behind-the-scenes truths most hosts never actually say out loud - and the small shifts that make a huge difference. Before we dive into that, I'm also talking about two visibility moments from the past couple of weeks that pushed me right out of my comfort zone: • the vulnerable Instagram post I nearly didn't share • and my first paid keynote to a room of senior leaders … and what both reminded me about showing up even when it feels a bit scary. In this episode, you'll learn: - what hosts are actually looking for (it's not what you think) - the sneaky red flags that make a pitch an automatic no - how to make your pitch stand out before you've even written a word - the simple way to get invited back again and again If you want to start landing podcast guest spots - and doing it in a way that feels generous and human - this episode will show you how. What does it really mean to be seen? And why, even in 2025, does visibility still come with such a cost for so many women? In this episode, I'm joined by Antonia Taylor, a PR and communications strategist who helps businesses amplify women's voices and build cultures where female leadership can thrive. She's also the author of the powerful white paper Being Seen: Women, Leadership and Visibility at Work, which was released just last month. In this episode, we talk about: The paradox of visibility - how women are often overlooked when they stay quiet, yet criticised when they step into the spotlight. Why playing small can be just as harmful to us as pushing too hard. Why some people don't resonate with the term 'personal branding' and what they prefer instead How to make visibility sustainable , with Antonia's practical tips from her contributors for building it into your everyday routine. Why visibility is activism - how one woman showing up makes it safer for others to do the same. How to "loop it through your heart" so your visibility feels authentic, not performative. This is one of those conversations that stays with you long after you've listened - thoughtful, honest, and full of wisdom about showing up as your real self. You're posting, you're showing up, you're visible… but the clients still aren't coming. Sound familiar? Being seen isn't the same as being chosen. I talk about: - The difference between being visible and becoming the obvious choice - Why positioning yourself clearly matters more than posting more - The biggest mistake I made with my last podcast (and what I do differently now) - A practical exercise you can do right now to see if you're actually selling in your content If you've been putting in the effort but not seeing the results, this episode will help you bridge the gap between just showing up… and selling your services. This is a very special episode as I'm joined by my 17-year-old son, Harrison, for an open and honest chat about what it's like having a mum who runs her own business and shows up online. My boys were the reason I started my business - I wanted to work flexibly, do something I loved, and be around as much as possible while they were growing up. Now that they're teenagers, I'm always aware of how my visibility might feel from their perspective - especially when their friends stumble across my Instagram or podcast! So I asked Harrison to come on the show and share how he really feels. What does he think about my talking-to-camera videos? How does he feel about the photos I shared of him when he was younger? In this episode, we chat about: - Whether he thinks me showing up online is inspiring or just a bit cringe - What Harrison has learned from growing up around self-employment - The benefits (and trade-offs) of working for yourself as a parent -- Whether he'd ever want to show up online himself one day - His advice to other parents who need to be visible in their businesses while raising teenagers It's a thoughtful and honest conversation and I hope it gives you a fresh perspective on showing up, especially if you're navigating business alongside family life. Early applications for my mastermind, SEEN, are now open!
