Got a question?? Ask here -> Are you feeling confused by all the talk about changes to the Better Off Overall Test (BOOT) and wondering what it means for your farm business? If you're responsible for payroll, managing staff or keeping the farm office running, this episode will help you make sense of what matters without adding to your mental load. In this episode, I sit down with HR specialist Kaitlin Trebley from Sort HR to talk about what the recent BOOT discussions mean for Australian farming businesses and why it's important to understand which employment system your business falls under. We talk through who the changes apply to, why they have become such a hot topic and the practical steps you can take to review your current payroll systems. This conversation isn't legal advice, but it will give you the understanding and confidence to ask the right questions and identify where your farm office may need attention. We also discuss practical ways to simplify payroll, the importance of accurate time records, reviewing employee classifications, using payroll software effectively and why strong employment contracts and simple HR systems can save you a lot of stress down the track. If you've been wondering whether your current approach is still fit for purpose, this episode will help you understand your options and feel more prepared for the season ahead. What systems have you put in place to manage payroll and HR on your farm? Or has this episode highlighted something you'd like to review before your next busy season? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Send me a message or share your experience with me on Instagram at @farmofficetoolbox Your questions and stories help shape future episodes and remind us we're all learning together. Got a question?? Ask here -> Have you ever wondered what someone else's farm office looks like? Or wished you could peek behind the scenes to see what systems, technology and equipment make running a busy farm business just that little bit easier? I've been asked this question more times than I can count, so in this episode I'm opening the door and taking you on a tour of my own farm office. I'll share the technology I rely on every day, the equipment that has stood the test of time and the renovation decisions that have completely transformed how I work. This office has been more than five years in the making, and every decision has been about reducing mental load, improving farm office management and creating systems that help me work smarter rather than harder. From my laptop and ultrawide monitor through to scanners, printers, data backup, Starlink, mobile signal boosters and the Friday Workbox, I'll explain why each piece has earned its place in my organised farm office. I'll also walk you through the custom cabinetry, boardroom, digital whiteboard and practical storage solutions that make the space calm, functional and enjoyable to work in every day. My hope isn't that you go out and buy everything I have. It's that this episode helps you think differently about your own farm office systems. Sometimes a small improvement, whether that's a second screen, a better scanner or simply reducing visual clutter, can make a surprisingly big difference to your productivity, focus and stress levels. Creating an organised farm office doesn't happen overnight. It's built one decision at a time, and every improvement helps reduce the overwhelm so many rural women experience while managing the administration of a busy farm business. Got a question?? Ask here -> Do you sit down in your farm office knowing exactly what needs to be done, yet somehow find yourself distracted, avoiding the hardest jobs or jumping from one task to another? I've been there too. Some days it's not a lack of motivation, it's mental load, information overload and trying to keep too many things in your head at once. In this episode I share the simple strategies I've been using to help me settle into focused work faster, especially when I'm faced with the paperwork I'd much rather avoid. I'll take you through the practical systems that help me stay on track, including breaking large jobs into smaller steps, using a focus timer, reducing distractions and setting myself up for success before I even leave my desk for a break. I also explain why changing your environment, gamifying repetitive tasks and building movement into your workday can improve both your focus and your wellbeing. These are simple habits that have made a real difference in my own farm office management and helped reduce the overwhelm that so many rural women experience. If you're looking for practical farm office systems to improve your farm productivity, reduce your mental load and make your office feel more manageable, this episode is full of small changes that can have a big impact. My goal isn't to help you work harder, it's to help you work smarter, feel calmer and leave the office with more energy for the things that matter most. I'd love to hear from you. Got a question?? Ask here -> Do you ever feel like you're constantly busy in the farm office but never quite getting ahead? In this episode, I talk about one of the most important foundations of an organised farm office, time management. The reality is that farm business administration is rarely predictable. One minute you're working on invoices, the next you're helping move machinery, organising family logistics or solving an unexpected problem. Traditional productivity advice often falls apart in a farm business because our days simply don't run in neat, uninterrupted blocks. That's why I share the Farm Office Toolbox, the physical system I use to organise active work, reduce mental load and stay on top of farm office management, even when life gets chaotic. I walk through the structure of my Farm Office Toolbox, including the colour-coded pockets, weekly planning process, project management system and routines that help me keep track of everything from BAS preparation to future business ideas. I explain how creating a trusted place for information has transformed the way I work, reduced overwhelm and made it easier to focus on the right tasks at the right time. We also run through practical time management tools including brain dumping, task batching, weekly planning, the Eisenhower Matrix and creating simple checklists that save time and make delegation easier. If you've ever felt overwhelmed by farm admin, struggled to keep track of paperwork, or wished you had better farm business systems in place, this episode will give you practical ideas you can start using straight away. My goal is to help you move from reactive to proactive, reduce the pressure on your brain and create an organised farm office that supports both your business and your wellbeing. I'd love to hear from you. Do you have a weekly planning routine or a trusted system for keeping track of everything in your farm office? In this episode, I sit down with Carmen Quade from Agri Focused to talk about what’s really going on behind the overwhelm so many rural women experience in farm business administration. Carmen shares practical, grounded strategies for reducing stress in the farm office, including brain dumps, planning systems, Trello, paper diaries, and creating realistic routines that work in agriculture. If you’ve been craving calmer systems, clearer priorities and a more organised farm office, this episode will leave you feeling understood and supported. Got a question?? Ask here -> Have you ever felt like the farm office is running you instead of the other way around? Like there’s always another task, another form, another compliance change, another thing sitting in the back of your mind keeping you awake at night? I know that feeling so well. In this episode, I’m sharing the framework that helped me move from overwhelmed and reactive to calm, organised and far more confident in our farm office. I talk through the 10 key parts of the scaffolding I use in our farm business administration systems, including time management, information management, planning systems, delegation, documenting workflows and creating repeatable farm office systems that reduce mental load. I also share why valuing the office role properly completely changed the way I viewed my contribution to the business and how that shift helped me make better decisions about where I spend my time and energy in the farm office. I’m also giving you a behind the scenes look at the new projects I’ve been quietly building including a national survey on farm business administration, a dedicated online community for people working in farm admin roles, new online courses and the beginnings of a book. My hope is that these resources help more rural women feel supported, capable and less isolated in the work they do every day behind the scenes of Australian agriculture. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by farm office management or wondered if there’s a better way to run your farm business systems, this episode is for you. What part of farm office management do you find most overwhelming right now? I’d love to hear from you. Got a question?? Ask here -> Welcome to farm office toolbox, A step-by-step simple guide to an organized farm office. This episode I speak with Tracy Minchin of Rural BizAssist. We discuss how we both use a second brain sytem to 'Capture, Process and Review' all the infomation that comes into our lives every week. However we use different tools to that suit our own personal skills and preferences. Tracy loves 'Evernote' and encourages you to take the time to learn how to use whichever system you decide to use, to get the most out of it and increase your chance of success with a new tool. A second screen is an essential tool to reduce paper use. Tracy suggests a portable USB screen to use with your laptop. Regularly doing a brain dump, using Google assistant to make reminders on your phone and a weekly review round out her top tools to reduce overwhelm and work effectively.
