First the labels. Now the threats. All for wanting a better Alberta? Disagree with us? Make your argument. Calling people names doesn’t answer their questions, and intimidation doesn’t make a weak argument stronger. They told Albertans there was no plan. They said independence would destroy our pensions, collapse health care, kill trade and leave us without a functioning country. Now the Alberta Transition Council has released a 214-page transition plan that takes those arguments head-on. Sylvan Lake Town Councillor Teej Johannesson is back on the show after facing a wave of online attacks following his last appearance. This time, Teej addresses the mistaken identity controversy, the accusations being made against him and the tactics used to pressure people into silence. Bullying someone does not make you right. All of a sudden Canada wants pipelines. Danielle Smith and Doug Ford are now pushing the Northern Shield Energy Corridor, a proposed Alberta-to-Ontario pipeline running from Hardisty, Alberta to Sarnia, Ontario. And the timing is funny as hell. This comes right after Mark Carney and Danielle Smith announced another pipeline proposal to the west coast. So now we have pipelines east, pipelines west, energy corridors, national projects, Canadian steel, Canadian jobs, Canadian energy security, and politicians pretending Canada suddenly works. I support pipelines. I support oil and gas. I support the men and women who build this country. But I also have questions. Why now? Who pays? Who profits? Who gets the contracts? And did Alberta independence finally scare the political class enough to start treating Alberta like the economic engine it has always been? Mark Carney just announced the Canada Strong Fund and the media will probably sell it like it’s some brilliant nation building idea. I’m not buying it. Countries like Norway built real wealth by selling their natural resources, building surpluses, and investing from strength. Canada?
