Send us Fan Mail What if losing weight didn’t require giving up the foods you love, obsessing over every bite, or relying on willpower? In this episode, I’m joined by two very special guests: a husband-and-wife couple who have worked with me through both my group coaching program and 1:1 coaching. And their transformation is about SO much more than the number on the scale. Together, they’ve lost over 30 pounds, but more importantly, they’ve completely changed the way they think about food, exercise, and taking care of themselves. They no longer live with constant food noise. They’ve learned how to eat foods they genuinely enjoy while still making progress. They’re consistently working out, drinking significantly more water, and (perhaps most importantly) they’ve developed a mindset that allows their healthy habits to actually fit into their lives. In this conversation, they share what it was really like to go through the coaching process, what changed for them, and why they believe working with a coach made such a difference. In this episode, we talk about Their lives and relationship with food before coaching What made them decide they were ready to do something differently The mindset shifts that changed everything for them How they went from struggling with food noise to feeling free around food How they learned to eat foods they love without feeling like they were “off track” What changed with their exercise habits and consistency How something as simple as drinking more water became a natural part of their lifestyle Their experience working with me in both group coaching and 1:1 coaching Why accountability and having someone guide you through the process can make such a difference The changes they’ve made that they know they can maintain long-term And, of course, their incredible 30+ pound combined weight loss What I love most about their story is that they didn't just learn how to “be good” long enough to lose weight. They learned how to live differently. They've built habits they actually enjoy. They've changed the way they think about food. They've stopped allowing food to take up so much mental space. And they've learned how to take care of themselves without feeling like they're constantly dieting. That is the kind of transformation I want for every woman I work with. Because the goal isn't to spend the rest of your life trying harder. The goal is to create a lifestyle where taking care of yourself becomes something you know how to do, and something you actually enjoy . If you’ve been stuck in the cycle of starting over, constantly thinking about food, struggling with consistency, or believing you have to be more restrictive to see results, I hope this conversation helps you see what is possible when you stop trying to do it all on your own. You don't need more willpower. You need the right tools, support, and a strategy that actually works for your life. Listen to this episode to hear their story and get a behind-the-scenes look at what can happen when you decide to stop starting over and finally learn how to create lasting change. — I would love to work with you to give you these same results! Send us Fan Mail Do you feel like you have a constant battle with sugar cravings? You tell yourself you need more willpower, try to avoid sweets entirely, or promise yourself you’ll “be good” tomorrow… but the cravings keep coming back. What if the problem isn’t your willpower at all? In this episode, we’re talking about the connection between sugar cravings, metabolism, blood sugar, and how well your body is being fueled. Your body is constantly working to maintain energy and balance, and sometimes those intense cravings for something sweet are your body’s way of asking for quick, easily available energy. I’m breaking down why under-eating, skipping meals, restrictive dieting, and building meals that aren’t satisfying enough can all contribute to the cycle of energy crash → sugar craving → quick energy → temporary relief → another craving. I want you to stop seeing your cravings as proof that you have no self-control, and instead, start looking at them as information. In this episode, you’ll learn: What metabolism actually has to do with sugar cravings Why your body may crave quick sources of energy How under-fueling can make cravings stronger The connection between restrictive dieting and sugar cravings Why fighting cravings with willpower isn't always the solution How to start addressing the root cause of your cravings instead of constantly trying to resist them If you’re tired of feeling like you’re constantly fighting your sweet tooth, this episode will help you start looking at your cravings through a completely different lens. Your cravings aren't necessarily the problem. They may be the clue. — JOIN THE WAITLIST FOR THE FOOD NOISE BOOTCAMP! Send us Fan Mail What does it actually look like to stop obsessing over food? In this special episode, I'm joined by one of my past clients as she shares her journey from constantly thinking about food to living with freedom, confidence, and sustainable healthy habits. When we first started working together, she struggled with food noise, an all-or-nothing mindset, inconsistency, and feeling like she always had to "start over" after vacations, holidays, or weekends. Today, her relationship with food looks completely different. In our conversation, she shares what changed, the habits that made the biggest difference, and why this transformation had nothing to do with more willpower or another restrictive diet. If you've ever wondered whether it's actually possible to stop thinking about food all day, this episode will show you what's possible. In This Episode, We Discuss: What food noise felt like before coaching How her all-or-nothing mindset kept her stuck The biggest mindset shifts that changed everything Why understanding nutrition made healthy choices feel easier How she built consistency with drinking water and exercising What changed about her relationship with vacations and holidays How she now maintains healthy habits without feeling restricted The freedom that comes from no longer constantly thinking about food Advice she would give someone who's struggling with food noise today Key Takeaway The goal isn't to have perfect habits. The goal is to build habits that become your normal. When you address the root causes behind food noise and create sustainable routines, healthy choices stop feeling like a constant battle. Send us Fan Mail This past weekend, I stepped out of my comfort zone and became certified to coach a fitness class at my gym, and the experience taught me so much more than just how to lead a workout. In this episode, I'm taking you behind the scenes of what the certification process was really like, the lessons I learned along the way, and why this experience completely reinforced my belief that movement is about so much more than burning calories or changing your body. If you've struggled to stay consistent with exercise, feel intimidated by fitness, or only see workouts as a tool for weight loss, this episode will help you shift your perspective. Send us Fan Mail Eating at restaurants doesn't have to end with feeling stuffed, uncomfortable, or guilty. For so many people, dining out feels like an all-or-nothing event. You tell yourself you'll "be good," but then the bread basket arrives, the portions are enormous, and before you know it, you've eaten past the point of fullness. You leave feeling like you've failed and promise you'll do better next time. The good news? It doesn't have to be that way. In this episode, I'm sharing simple strategies you can use while you're sitting at the table to help you stay connected to your hunger and fullness cues without feeling restricted or missing out on the experience. We'll also dive into the mindset shifts that make it easier to enjoy your meal without feeling like you have to clean your plate or "get your money's worth." These aren't restaurant "rules." They're practical tools to help you leave the table feeling satisfied instead of uncomfortable. In this episode, you'll learn: Simple things to do during your meal that help you recognize fullness before it's too late Mindset shifts that help you enjoy eating out without guilt How to leave a restaurant feeling energized instead of overly full If eating out has become something you fear because you always feel like you overdo it, this episode will give you practical strategies you can start using at your very next restaurant meal. — WORK WITH LAURA: Seismic Shift: Group Health Coaching (code POWERFUL for 10% off) 1:1 Coaching — 💌 Connect With Laura: Website: Health Coach for Teachers & Busy, Working Women Instagram: LAURA B. | Teacher turned Health Coach | Podcaster🎙️ (@laura.b.healthy) • Instagram photos and videos TikTok: Laura B. | Health Coach (@laura.b.healthy) | TikTok — If this episode helped you, I'd love for you to leave a review, share it with a friend, or screenshot the episode and tag me on social media. Send us Fan Mail What if everything you've been told about food noise is missing the bigger picture? If you constantly think about food, battle cravings throughout the day, or feel like you're relying on willpower to stay on track, you've probably been told that food noise is simply something you need to manage or silence. But what if that's not actually true? In this episode, I'm sharing two unconventional opinions about food noise that challenge the way most people think about hunger, cravings, and appetite. These ideas have transformed the way I coach women who feel stuck in the cycle of obsessing over food, and they may completely change the way you understand your own body. We'll explore why food noise might be trying to tell you something important, how to distinguish between true hunger and mental cravings, and what your body may actually need when those constant thoughts about food show up. You'll also learn how factors like protein, fiber, blood sugar, sleep, and stress influence your appetite and why addressing the root cause is often far more effective than relying on willpower alone. If you're tired of feeling like food controls your thoughts, this episode will give you a new perspective that replaces frustration with understanding and helps you work with your body instead of against it. In This Episode, We Discuss: Why the conversation around food noise may be missing the bigger picture How to tell the difference between food noise and true hunger Common root causes of constant thoughts about food The role of protein, fiber, blood sugar, sleep, and stress in appetite regulation Why willpower isn't the answer to reducing cravings How understanding your body's signals can help you build trust around food Practical mindset shifts that make healthy habits feel easier — RELATED EPISODE: Mentioned in this episode is an episode on sleep and cravings. Send us Fan Mail Have you ever looked around at your life and thought, This can't be it ? Maybe you're exhausted, overwhelmed, saying yes to everyone else, and wondering why you feel so disconnected from yourself. Burnout doesn't happen overnight, and neither does creating a life that truly aligns with who you are. In this week's episode of Isn't She Powerful , I sit down with burnout and reinvention coach Jenn Fast to talk about what it really means to reinvent your life. After experiencing frightening health challenges of her own, Jenn made the courageous decision to leave her career, repair her marriage, prioritize her health, and intentionally build a life that reflected her values instead of everyone else's expectations. Together, we unpack the connection between chronic stress, burnout, people-pleasing, and poor health (and most importantly, what you can do to change it). Jenn shares a practical framework for identifying when it's time for a life reset, how to reconnect with your values, and why boundaries aren't selfish, they're essential. Whether you're feeling stuck in your career, overwhelmed by family responsibilities, struggling to prioritize your health, or simply sensing that something needs to change, this conversation will leave you feeling empowered to take your next step. In this episode, we discuss: What "reinvention" actually means, and why it doesn't require starting your life over How to recognize the warning signs of burnout before they become a crisis Jenn's personal journey through health challenges and how they transformed her life Why living out of alignment with your values creates chronic stress A simple process for identifying what truly matters to you Practical ways to remove unnecessary stress from your daily life Why setting boundaries feels so uncomfortable (and why it's worth doing anyway) Boundary scripts for difficult conversations with family, spouses, coworkers, and yourself How to stop people-pleasing without feeling guilty Small steps you can take today to begin your own reinvention If you've been waiting for permission to make a change, this episode is it. Send us Fan Mail You aren't off track. You're living! Have you ever gotten sick, had a family emergency, or simply experienced a season of life that made your healthy habits take a back seat? If so, you're not alone (and more importantly, you're not "off track"). In today's episode, I'm sharing one of the biggest mindset shifts that has helped both me and my clients build lasting healthy habits: understanding that life's interruptions are part of the journey, not proof that you've failed. So many women believe that missing a few workouts or eating differently for a few days means they have to "start over." That belief keeps you trapped in the all-or-nothing cycle, where every setback feels like failure. But true consistency isn't about never missing a day. It's about knowing how to keep moving forward when life inevitably happens. We'll also talk about the important balance between giving yourself grace and holding yourself accountable. While illness, vacations, busy seasons, and unexpected challenges deserve compassion, we also don't want to begin looking for excuses to avoid the habits that help us feel our best. In this episode, you'll learn: Why missing healthy habits doesn't automatically mean you're off track. How the all-or-nothing mindset keeps you stuck. The difference between life's unavoidable interruptions and making excuses. Why consistency includes breaks, setbacks, and unexpected seasons. How to give yourself grace without losing momentum. A healthier way to think about getting back into your routine. If you've ever found yourself saying, "I have to start over on Monday," this episode will help you replace guilt with confidence and build a healthier mindset that lasts. Topics Covered: all-or-nothing mindset, healthy habits, consistency, getting back on track, mindset shifts, health journey, motivation, missing workouts, illness and exercise, accountability, self-compassion, sustainable weight loss, healthy lifestyle, habit building, perfectionism, fitness mindset
Send us Fan Mail We've all been there. One weekend turns into a week. A vacation throws off your routine. You overeat at a party, have a binge eating episode, or simply stop doing the habits that were making you feel your best. The good news? You don't need to start over. In this episode of Isn't She Powerful , I'm sharing the exact 4-part strategy I personally use (and teach my clients) to get back on track without guilt, punishment, or the all-or-nothing thinking that keeps so many women stuck. Instead of overcorrecting with restrictive diets, hours of cardio, or promises to "be perfect" on Monday, you'll learn how to approach setbacks with a clear plan that helps you rebuild consistency quickly and sustainably. Whether you've been off track for two days or two months, this episode will help you reset your mindset, remove the emotion from the situation, and confidently take your next step forward. In this episode, you'll learn: When it's actually time to use this 4-step reset strategy Why getting off track is a normal part of every health journey How to remove guilt, shame, and emotion from a "mess up" Why overcorrecting often leads to another cycle of burnout and inconsistency The simple 4-part framework for getting back into healthy habits How to build consistency instead of chasing perfection The mindset shift that makes healthy habits feel sustainable for life If you've ever felt like one unhealthy meal, one vacation, or one difficult weekend erased all of your progress, this episode is for you. Your success isn't determined by whether you get off track. It's determined by how quickly you return to the habits that help you feel your best. Remember: You don't need a fresh start. You just need your next healthy choice. — WORK WITH LAURA: Seismic Shift: Group Health Coaching (code POWERFUL for 10% off) 1:1 Coaching — 💌 Connect With Laura: Website: Health Coach for Teachers & Busy, Working Women Instagram: LAURA B. | Teacher turned Health Coach | Podcaster🎙️ (@laura.b.healthy) • Instagram photos and videos TikTok: Laura B. | Health Coach (@laura.b.healthy) | TikTok — Topics Covered in This Episode: getting back on track, healthy habits, weight loss mindset, binge eating recovery, all-or-nothing thinking, consistency over perfection, healthy lifestyle, vacation weight gain, habit reset, mindset shifts, emotional eating, food guilt, sustainable weight loss, healthy routines, burnout prevention, behavior change

Send us Fan Mail Do you feel like you're constantly thinking about food? Maybe you've heard people describe GLP-1 medications as a way to finally silence food noise and you're wondering if that's the only solution. In today's episode, we're exploring the relationship between food noise and GLP-1 medications. While these medications can be incredibly helpful for some people, they're not the only path to experiencing less mental chatter around food. I break down some of the most common root causes of food noise that I see in my coaching practice, including undereating, not getting enough protein and fiber, and experiencing blood sugar highs and lows throughout the day. When your body isn't getting what it needs, it's natural for your brain to keep asking for food. You'll learn how simple nutrition and lifestyle shifts can help reduce cravings, improve satiety, and create a greater sense of peace around food, whether you're taking a GLP-1 medication or not. But for many women, vacations can also bring anxiety about food, exercise, and the fear of "falling off track." In this episode, we're talking about how to approach vacations with a healthy mindset so you can fully enjoy your trip while still feeling good physically and mentally. The goal isn't to lose weight on vacation. The goal isn't to earn your meals or burn off every indulgence. The goal is to enjoy your life, create memories, and return home feeling proud of how you showed up for yourself. In This Episode, We Discuss: Why vacations often trigger an all-or-nothing mindset The biggest mistake people make before, during, and after a trip How to create realistic "bare minimum" goals that support your health Examples of simple habits to prioritize while traveling Why consistency matters more than perfection How to enjoy vacation foods without guilt or regret The mindset shift that helps you stop viewing vacations as a setback How to return home without needing to "start over" on Monday Key Takeaway Your healthiest life should include vacations. Send us Fan Mail Cancer can feel unpredictable and scary, which is why so many people assume it's mostly determined by genetics. But what if many of the factors that influence cancer risk are actually within our control? In today's episode, I sit down with a cancer prevention expert, Deanine Grace, Ph.D., to discuss the lifestyle factors that can impact our risk of developing cancer and the practical steps we can take to support long-term health. We explore the role of nutrition, fiber, fermented foods, environmental toxins, stress management, and more. One of the most surprising parts of our conversation is learning that only a small percentage of cancers are directly linked to genetics. Instead, many cases are influenced by a combination of lifestyle and environmental factors that accumulate over time. Whether you're looking to be proactive about your health, support a loved one facing cancer, or simply learn how to create habits that support your body's natural defenses, this conversation is packed with practical takeaways you can start implementing today. In this episode, we discuss: • The surprising truth about genetics and cancer risk • The foods that may help support cancer prevention and overall health • Simple strategies for eating more nutrient-dense foods consistently • Why fermented foods matter and how to include them in your diet • The role fiber plays in gut health and cancer prevention • Common environmental toxins and how they may impact health • Easy swaps for household and food-related products to reduce toxic exposure • The connection between chronic stress and disease risk • Practical stress-management strategies that fit into real life • What individuals with cancer, or those supporting someone with cancer, can focus on right now — Connect with Deanine Grace, Ph.D.: Watch her recent webinar & grab her eBook: The Well Lady Prevention Follow her on Instagram, TikTok, & YouTube: @thecancerdetox Order her book: Cancer Prevention: The Diet and Lifestyle Habits That Cancer Hates — If you enjoyed this episode, please take a moment to rate and review the podcast. Send us Fan Mail Have you ever lost weight successfully, only to find yourself gaining it back months later? If so, you're not alone. And contrary to what many people believe, it isn't always because you "fell off track," lacked willpower, or stopped caring about your goals. In this episode, we're diving into one of the most misunderstood parts of weight loss: what happens after the diet ends. Many women focus entirely on getting into a calorie deficit to lose weight, but very few understand what needs to happen once they reach their goal weight. The reality is that the calorie intake that maintained your previous weight will likely be too high to maintain a lighter body. If you return to eating exactly the way you did before losing weight, the weight often comes back. Not because you failed, but because your body's calorie needs have changed. In this episode, you'll learn: Why weight regain is so common after successful weight loss The difference between a weight-loss calorie intake and a maintenance calorie intake How calorie needs change as your body weight changes Why going back to your old eating habits often leads to regaining weight What maintenance actually looks like in real life How to think about calories after reaching your goal weight The simple math behind maintaining a lower body weight long-term If you've ever wondered why the weight seems to come back every time you lose it, this episode will help you understand what's really happening and how to avoid repeating the same cycle. --- Enjoying the podcast? But over time, she completely changed the way she approaches health and wellness. Now, she’s down 12 pounds, has had perfect labs for the last 5 months, maintains her healthy habits for months after the program, and no longer feels controlled by food.
