Casual Camping Podcast

The best camping discussion both in and out of the field. Light-hearted chat with two brothers (Ade and Tim) who love all things camping-related. Camping is their happy place. We started this podcast because we both found that we had very busy lives and we weren't speaking to each other enough. When we did talk, it was always about camping. By putting a podcast episode out every week we make sure we keep in touch. It's as simple as that. We aren't sponsored and we don't need paid partnerships. This isn't our day job, it's simply a way to keep two brothers connected. We hope you enjoy listening as much as we love making it.

As Vango celebrates its 60th anniversary, the lads spent two days immersed in the world of camping and outdoor adventure. 2. Tim's Emergency Camp

    Jul 24, 2026

Send us your Mediocre 5 Star Review This week’s episode is a mix of studio chat and field recording as Tim answers an unexpected call to duty. With very little notice, Tim found himself rapidly throwing together a kit list, loading up the essentials, and heading off on a lengthy journey to a remote campsite. The mission? To spend a night under canvas and help rescue a damsel in distress. Not all heroes wear capes, and apparently some carry camping gear instead. From last-minute packing and travel challenges to the realities of an unplanned night in the great outdoors, Tim talks us through the adventure as it unfolded. Recorded partly on location, this episode captures the atmosphere, the highs, the lows, and the moments that make these sudden expeditions memorable. So settle in and join us as we hear how Tim stepped up, took one for the team, and embarked on what can only be described as an emergency camping mission. 3. Camping Checklist

    Jul 17, 2026

Send us your Mediocre 5 Star Review This week Tim and Ade kick things off with a healthy dose of classic Casual Camping chaos — the kind of warm, wandering banter that somehow manages to be both completely off‑topic and absolutely essential. Before long they tumble into the main theme: how to make sure you don’t forget a single thing when heading out on a camping adventure. They chat through the tools, tricks, and systems that actually work, from digital checklists to old‑school methods that stop you arriving at the campsite only to realise your stove, your torch, or your favourite mug is still sitting at home. There’s plenty of real‑world wisdom mixed with the usual teasing, detours, and one particularly ridiculous tangent where the show briefly transforms into the Casual Campaigning Podcast for no good reason other than it made them laugh. It’s practical, playful, and full of that familiar energy — a mix of helpful advice and joyful nonsense that makes planning your next trip feel a lot less like admin and a lot more like part of the adventure. 4. Camping with the Family

    Jul 10, 2026

Send us your Mediocre 5 Star Review This week Tim and Ade bring peak sibling chaos to the mic before eventually remembering they’re meant to be talking about family camping. Between the tangents, questionable stories, and at least one argument about snacks, they somehow deliver a cracking guide to making trips with the kids fun instead of feral. They chat about surviving the journey without losing your mind, pitching camp without a meltdown, and keeping the little ones entertained with adventures that cost absolutely nothing. Expect practical tips, plenty of laughter, and the usual dose of Casual Camping nonsense that makes you feel like you’re already sat around the fire with them. 5. Micro Adventure Part 3

    Jul 3, 2026

Send us your Mediocre 5 Star Review In this episode, Ade and Tim take a step back and look at their micro adventure with fresh eyes. A few days have passed since their night ascent of Mount Snowdon — the climb, the camp, the sunrise breakfast — and now it’s time to reflect. They talk through what went well, what they’d do differently, and how the whole experience has settled in now that the dust has been brushed off and the tiredness has faded. From the quiet moments on the mountain to the laughter that carried them through the dark, it’s a thoughtful debrief on what adventure really means when life is busy and time is short. There’s honesty, humour, and a bit of perspective — the kind that only comes after doing something slightly mad and then having a few days to think about it. It’s a conversation about lessons learned, memories made, and the lingering satisfaction of turning a simple idea into something unforgettable. 6. Micro Adventure Part 2

    Jun 26, 2026

Send us your Mediocre 5 Star Review In this episode, Ade and Tim finally put their plan into action. After a full day at work, they jumped in the car, headed straight for Mount Snowdon, and began their night ascent. What followed was a mix of tired legs, head‑torch‑lit paths, unexpected moments of calm, and the kind of quiet excitement that only comes from doing something slightly unhinged on a weekday evening. They reached the summit in the dark, pitched the tent in the wind, and settled in for a few hours of cold, restless but unforgettable sleep. As dawn broke, they unzipped the tent to a rising sun spilling across the mountains, fired up the stove, and cooked breakfast and fresh coffee on the highest point in Wales. It was simple, surreal, and exactly the kind of moment that makes a micro adventure worth every step. With the sun fully up, they packed away the tent, began the long walk back down, and eventually made their way home — tired, muddy, buzzing, and already talking about what they might do next. Throughout the episode, you’ll hear the real recordings from the climb, the summit, the early‑morning brew, and the journey back, capturing the atmosphere of the whole adventure exactly as it happened. It’s the payoff to the planning, the reality behind the idea, and a reminder that even the wildest midweek plans can turn into something unforgettable. 7. Micro Adventure Part 1

    Jun 19, 2026

Send us your Mediocre 5 Star Review This week, Ade and Tim dive into the planning stage of their upcoming micro adventure — a simple but brilliant idea that’s been bubbling away for a while. The plan is wonderfully straightforward: finish work one evening, jump in the car, head straight to Mount Snowdon, climb it in the dark, camp on the summit, and wake up ready to cook breakfast as the sun rises over the mountains. In this first part, they talk through how the idea came about, how they’ll time the journey and the night ascent, and what they’ll need to take with them to make the whole thing safe, fun, and just chaotic enough to feel like a proper adventure. There’s plenty of gear chat, a bit of route pondering, and the usual mix of enthusiasm, questionable logic, and the kind of silliness that always seems to appear when these two start planning something mildly ridiculous. It’s the build‑up, the excitement, and the anticipation — all the ingredients that make a micro adventure feel real before it’s even begun. 8. Day Coolers

    Jun 12, 2026

Send us your Mediocre 5 Star Review This week Ade and Tim unpack one of the biggest — and most surprising — trends from last week’s Outdoor Trade Show in Liverpool: the explosion of day coolers. While the industry has spent years obsessing over multi‑day, expedition‑grade cool boxes that promise to keep ice frozen for 3, 4, even 5 days, this year the pendulum swung the other way. Everywhere the lads turned, brands were showing off coolers designed for real life: the beach afternoon, the park picnic, the long drive, the spontaneous day out. Soft coolers, hard coolers, self‑inflating coolers (yes, really), premium ones, budget ones — every price point, every style, every brand seemed to be in on the shift. And honestly? The show was buzzing about it. So were Ade and Tim. It’s not glamorous gear. It’s not headline‑grabbing. But it’s the stuff people actually use, and this year it finally got its moment. 9. Outdoor Trade Show 2026

    Jun 5, 2026

Send us your Mediocre 5 Star Review This week Ade and Tim take the listeners behind the curtain of the UK’s most exciting, most secretive, and most tantalisingly off‑limits event in the camping calendar: The Outdoor Trade Show in Liverpool. It’s the show you can’t buy tickets for. The show where everything is shiny, new, and won’t hit the shelves until next year. The show that turns two grown men into excitable children with press passes. Travelling up by train, the lads dive into a full day of exploring prototypes, future gear, wild innovations, and the kind of kit that makes you whisper “I need that” even though it technically doesn’t exist yet. Expect stories from the exhibition floor, early favourites, unexpected discoveries, and a few moments where Ade had to be gently steered away from “accidentally” adopting more equipment. It’s enthusiastic, nerdy, full of wonder, and absolutely peak Casual Camping Podcast. 10. The Barter Barn

    May 29, 2026

Send us your Mediocre 5 Star Review This week Tim and Ade unpack their wild weekend running The Barter Barn at The Bushcraft Show — a stall that somehow became the busiest spot on site and raised a small fortune for charity in the process. Think constant crowds, premium gear flying in and out, and trades so bizarre they’ll live forever in podcast lore (yes, including the wedding dress). From a kid swapping foraged mint for a water bladder, to Damascus knives, Dutch ovens, elf costumes, and a dedicated knife table that appeared out of necessity, the lads relive the beautiful madness of running a no‑cash trading post in 35‑degree heat. They also talk about being roped onto the main stage to run a charity auction — unprepared, slightly terrified, and absolutely smashing it with over £4,000 raised. Add in community moments, old friends, new faces, Scouts everywhere, and Ade completing all three fire‑making methods like some sort of bushcraft wizard, and you’ve got a packed episode. It’s warm, funny, chaotic, and full of the joy that makes the bushcraft community what it is. 11. Europe's Largest Campsite

    May 22, 2026

Send us your Mediocre 5 Star Review This week on Casual Camping Podcast, head with us to Shell Island in Wales — officially Europe’s largest campsite — to find out whether 400 acres of camping paradise really deserves its legendary reputation. From clifftop sea views and giant sandy beaches to woodland hammock spots and dunes that make you feel completely off-grid, you’ll hear why this place keeps drawing campers back year after year. You’ll also join Tim as he tests his brand-new Vango Sierra TC Air 300 in some proper coastal wind, while Ade returns to his favourite Pembrokeshire campsite armed with his Snowpeak Grandberg, a tent stove and a rather noisy flue pipe. Throw in dolphins in the bay, tidal causeways, Shell Island IPA, and preparations for a scorching-hot Bushcraft Show weekend, and you’ve got another laugh-filled episode packed with campsite tips, gear chat, and the usual camping nonsense. 12. Camp Kitchen Setup

    May 15, 2026

Send us your Mediocre 5 Star Review This week on Casual Camping Podcast we’re building the ultimate camp cooking HQ in Camp Kitchen Setup! From where to put your stove, to how not to spend half your evening rummaging through bags looking for the spatula in the dark, we chat through the little tweaks that can turn a chaotic camp kitchen into a smooth-running outdoor café… or at least somewhere you can successfully cook without dropping half your dinner in the grass. We talk about kitchen layout, keeping your kit organised, and why slinging a tarp overhead might be one of the smartest things you can do before the weather inevitably turns against you. As always, there’s plenty of laugh-filled banter, a few questionable cooking ideas, and another gloriously mediocre 5-star listener review. So grab a brew, pull up a camp chair, and join us for another cosy episode of Casual Camping Podcast. 13. Trains, Planes and Automobiles

    May 8, 2026

Send us your Mediocre 5 Star Review This week on Casual Camping Podcast, Tim packs up his camping kit, boards a plane, and heads north to Scotland for a wild camping adventure on the cliffs overlooking the village where his dad once lived. Along the way, he meets up with sister Laura, turning the trip into a memorable family adventure as well as a camping challenge. With airline luggage limits, airport security rules, and a long carry into the field to think about, careful planning became essential. Ade and Tim chat through the realities of flying with camping gear, what you can and can’t take onto a plane, and how to strike the perfect balance between travelling light and still being comfortable once you reach camp. They also explore the rules around wild camping in Scotland and why the freedom to camp responsibly in some of the UK’s most stunning landscapes makes it worth the travel on planes, trains and automobiles. Naturally, things don’t go entirely to plan. From funny conversations with locals to the slightly surreal moment the police arrived, the trip produced plenty of laughs, unexpected moments, and stories that only seem to happen when camping is involved. A funny, informative, and adventure-filled episode about family, travel, and the freedom that comes from carrying everything you need on your back. 14. Gourmet Camp Cooking

    May 1, 2026

Send us your Mediocre 5 Star Review Gourmet cooking… in a tent… with Ade and Tim. What could possibly go wrong? In this week’s episode, they boldly attempt to elevate their campsite cuisine from “questionable beige” to something approaching fine dining . Yes, really. Armed with questionable confidence, a few ambitious ingredients, and the usual lack of coordination, they set out to prove that even two blokes who can barely organise a brew-up might just be capable of producing something… edible. Possibly even impressive. Fresh from a brilliant trip to Cumbria with friends, they swap stories from the field, share a load of top tips for levelling up camp cooking, and reveal whether their gourmet experiment was a triumph… or politely tolerated by everyone else. Expect laughs, mild chaos, and at least one moment where things nearly went very, very wrong. If you’ve ever wondered whether campsite cooking can be more than just beans and burnt sausages — this one’s for you. 15. The Great Pack Down

    Apr 24, 2026

Send us your Mediocre 5 Star Review This week, Tim and Ade face their biggest challenge yet… fitting two full camping setups into one vehicle. No pressure. In The Great Pack Down , they’re planning a Cumbria getaway and, thanks to a 4 hour car sharing journey, are forced (yes, forced) to rethink their usual “bring everything just in case” approach. With limited space and big ambitions, it’s time to strip things back and figure out what you actually need for a brilliant weekend outdoors. There’s plenty of debate, some surprisingly sensible decisions, and the small matter of squeezing in Ade’s cooking plans—because apparently a leg of lamb is now considered “essential kit.” Think downsizing from bell tents to lighter setups, ditching fire pits, and trusting the British weather to double as a fridge… because nothing says luxury like Nature's 1°C beer chiller. Less gear, shared journey, same great adventure. 16. Air Beam Tents

    Apr 17, 2026

Send us your Mediocre 5 Star Review This week on Casual Camping Podcast, Ade and Tim are, quite literally, full of hot air. The lads are chatting all things air beam tents — those magical inflatable marvels that seem to pop up in minutes while everyone else on the campsite is still arguing with a bag of poles and a set of instructions written by a madman. Ade has taken the plunge with his first ever air beam tent, and safe to say, he absolutely loves it. There may be a slight hint of smugness as he talks about how quickly it goes up, while Tim sits there wondering why he’s still living in the dark ages with conventional poles and muttering, “I need one of these.” Of course, they’re also busting a few myths along the way. Are they really sturdy? Do they survive British weather? And do they basically turn your pitch into a giant bouncy castle? There’s every chance Tim is already planning to launch himself at one just to test the theory. If you’ve ever fancied swapping bent poles, frayed tempers, and the annual “which end is the bedroom?” debate for something a little more… inflatable, this is the episode for you. Expect laughs, a bit of myth-busting, and at least one wildly exaggerated comparison to children’s party equipment. 19. Camping Fuel Crisis

    Mar 27, 2026

Send us your Mediocre 5 Star Review In this week’s episode of Casual Camping Podcast, Ade and Tim tackle a topic every camper has probably grumbled about recently — the rising cost of camping fuel. From gas canisters that seem to empty your wallet faster than your stove, to the ever-changing price of petrol, and even the not-so-“free” cost of firewood, it’s getting harder to keep things cheap and cheerful in the great outdoors. The lads share their own experiences, a few frustrations, and plenty of laughs as they explore what’s behind the price hikes and how it’s changing the way we camp. Is it time to rethink how we cook at camp? Go back to basics? Or just accept that even a brew in the wild now comes with a price tag? As always, there are some handy tips, a bit of honest chat, and the usual laid-back camping banter. 20. Camping Therapy

    Mar 20, 2026

Send us your Mediocre 5 Star Review In this week’s episode of Casual Camping Podcast, Ade and Tim share a more personal conversation. After the recent loss of their dad, they reflect on how getting outdoors and spending time camping has helped them process their grief. They talk about how stepping away from the noise of everyday life—sitting around a campfire, walking in the woods, and simply being outside—created the space to think, talk, and remember. This episode isn’t about having the answers to grief, but about sharing how the outdoors can help when life feels overwhelming. Sometimes a tent, a stove, and a quiet place are exactly what you need.
