In this episode, I’m joined by Daniel Paul, Theo Schafer, and Theo Krantz to celebrate the culmination of our year-and-a-half-long side quest to preserve a major piece of paranormal history. What started as a deep dive into the Integratron and its creator, George Van Tassel, eventually led me out to the desert to meet a man named Don McKinney. Don was holding on to an incredible archive, including original Integratron blueprints, hundreds of reel-to-reel channeling tapes, rare photos, film, manuscripts, and historical documents, that was becoming too massive for one person to preserve. After bringing in Theo and Theo to help organize it, Daniel Paul and I set out to find a museum that could give this collection the home and restoration it deserved. Today, I’m thrilled to announce that The Don McKinney Collection has officially been acquired by The Huntington Museum. They’ve already begun restoring the materials, and select pieces will be on display this October during their Strange Science event, where Daniel and I will also be speaking. In this episode, we talk through the entire process of saving this archive, reflect on the journey, and, naturally, go on a few completely unrelated tangents. In 1989, shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Nina was on the street outside her workplace when she was approached by a man identifying himself as a police officer. He said that he needed to take her in for questioning in regard to her boyfriend, which made sense given the people her boyfriend was involved with at the time. She got into the police car, and as they drove through the streets of Berlin, she had a terrible feeling something was not right. When Andrea loses her grandmother and is plunged into the depths of grief, she calls out and asks her for a sign. To her surprise, she woke up that night in another realm with her called answered. Some years later Andrea is invited by family to attend a retreat in Mexico, and finds herself participating in a ceremony with a very powerful and culturally significant mushroom called teonanácatl, or "Flesh of the Gods." Paul was driving up to Virginia to see his girlfriend at the time when he came across a hitchhiker. This man asked to be dropped off at a Burger King close to where Paul was heading and said that he was "going to meet Life and have some words with him." Confused, but intrigued, by this cryptic statement Paul agreed to take this hitchhiker to his destination. Once at Burger King, a man approached Paul in his truck and delivered strange prophetic messages with meanings that would only reveal themselves years later. Whenever Eric and his high school friends had free time, they enjoyed exploring abandoned places, especially Arnold Heights, a deserted former military housing community. During one visit, they met another group of explorers who warned them to stay away from an area known as "Sector X," which was rumored to be haunted by the spirit of a grieving father who went on a murderous rampage after his son drowned. When Ashley was only 11 years old, she moved back to her parent's home country of Mexico. While the transition was difficult at first, she came to love her new life. Most of all, this move allowed her to develop a meaningful relationship with her grandfather whose life was full of grand stories. One day when Frank was 14 growing up in Tampa, FL, his dad came home from work and started talking about some guys from work who had a ghost in their office. Apparently, something was making coins materialize from thin air around this office, which was actually much more of an industrial parking lot and drywall storage facility. The guys named this ghost 'Freddy' and one day, Frank's dad decided to take him and his brother to go meet it. This story caught my attention all the way back in 2024 when I recorded it, and ever since then I have been hoping to find one final missing piece. This was recorded in October 2024 during Hurricane Milton, and I actually did some of the interviews while Frank's family was evacuated to a hurricane shelter. As a teenager, Tatum decided to take up a job at a small family-owned restaurant in Carlisle, Pennsylvania that was originally a historic pre-civil war home. As a nod to the building's heritage the restaurant kept a photo of the original family who had resided in the home, but it was rumored among the staff that it was this family that was haunting the place. It wasn't long into working there that Tatum began to have experiences of her own.
