It’s a Dark Matter Thing

Over our 2 seasons we’ve spoken a lot about different things that happen in space, from black holes to the formation of our universe! But what about the place we call home?? This week we look into how Earth started and the journey it took to get it to a place suitable for life to flourish! This weeks episode is all about moons! If you didn't already know, moons are one of our favourite things to talk about because they come in so many different shapes and sizes! This week we talk about what exactly is a moon, the different ways moons form and some of our favourite moons in our solar system.

In this weeks episode we discuss what actually is an Earth-like exo planet and why we want to study more about them. We also talked about our weekly science discoveries and a bit more about what we have in store for this season!

In this weeks episode, we tackle the age old question... what's the difference between astronomy and astrology? We also discuss the different methods used to calculate distances in space and how we can calculate seemingly impossible values! This week we also continued our new segment discussing new science discoveries - this week it was dinosaurs and dark matter! This week we talk a bit more in-depth about the mysterious things in our universe... black holes! We look into some of the key parts of a black hole, as well as, how they are formed, what happens when they merge together and some cool things called quasars! In this weeks episode, we discuss how everything comes from star dust (literally)! All normal matter that exists in our universe comes from the remnants of a dying star, and yes that includes us. We also talk briefly about women in STEM and why it's so important for more girls to go into STEM careers in the future. On this weeks episode we spoke about a lot of different topics. We had a few questions sent through about the James Webb Space Telescope so we decided to dive in and explain a bit more about what exactly it is and what it's primary targets will be when it is launched into space! We also looked into some of the different research that is Australia is currently taking part in and how exciting it is that Australia is starting to get more involved in space. The final topic we covered this week was STEM careers and talking a bit more about STEM education. We want to remind our audience that STEM is for EVERYONE and we hope all of our listeners have fun learning about cool space things as much as us! This week we are discussing all things dark matter! So, what is dark matter? To give a short answer, scientist still aren't sure what exactly dark matter is. But we do know that it is all throughout the universe and has been for a long time... In this episode we talk about a brief history of dark matter, some of the things scientist originally thought dark matter might be, the key bits of evidence for the presence of dark matter in the universe, as well as why it's important to develop our understanding of dark matter.
