The Bricked Pit is a podcast where hosts Jason, Josh, and Adam explore movies and pop culture, often focusing on classics from the '80s and '90s. Known for their conversational banter and comedic tangents, the trio offers in-depth analyses of films, digging into everything from practical effects to controversial directors. They aren't afraid to debate the merits of sequels (is "Dawn of the Dead" superior to "Night of the Living Dead?"), and they're not shy about expressing their distaste for excessive nostalgia in modern film.

Ever wonder why werewolves are such a horror staple? On this episode of "The Bricked Pit," we're diving deep into the world of cinematic werewolves, exploring the myths, the movies, and everything in between. We'll trace the werewolf legend back to its roots in ancient Greece (turns out people have been afraid of turning into wolves for a long time!), and talk about how those stories have changed over time. Plus, we'll discuss how 20th-century horror classics like "The Wolf Man" shaped how we see werewolves today. Remember those awesome practical effects in "The Howling" and "An American Werewolf in London?" We'll revisit those iconic transformation scenes and talk about why they're still considered the gold standard . Of course, no discussion of werewolf movies is complete without talking about classic tropes like full moon transformations, the battle between man and beast, and those oh-so-contagious bites. 11. S04 E16 Those were the days from The Bricked Pit, opens in a new tab

    Aug 8, 20241 hr 21 min

Nostalgia is a helluva drug. Remembering a bygone era can make us feel better. Memories are often unreliable and present things in a preferred narrative. As children, we didn’t have the responsibilities of adulthood; therefore we tend to remember the years of our childhood as being a ‘better’ or ‘simpler’ time. Entertainment taps into those feeling by presenting stories set in the times of our youth or by bringing back an IP that you enjoyed in an effort to entice you to watch. Some of those films tell a good story set in those times. Other just copy and paste the original into a newer package. Picks: JK: the sandlot, back to the future AO: Superbad JD: Ghost Busters: Afterlife; American Graffiti
