Deputy Secretary of State Chris Landau returns to Moment of Truth for round two, this time to dig into reforming the Foreign Service, the America First case for treating visas as a genuine tool of statecraft, and what a post-USAID State Department actually looks like. They also cover the “Donroe Doctrine” and the administration's renewed focus on the Western Hemisphere after decades of neglect, the fight against cartels and Chinese influence in Latin America, and why folding USAID into the State Department was long overdue. A genuinely fascinating look inside how America First foreign policy actually works day to day and the perfect primer for any enterprising young person considering joining the Foreign Service. This week on Moment of Truth, Nick sits down with Jon Schweppe, Senior Advisor at the American Principles Project, fresh off an 18-month stint as senior policy advisor to FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson. Jon explains what antitrust and consumer protection enforcement have actually accomplished under this administration and why the FTC's Section Five authority is one of the most underrated tools in government. They dig deep into the sports betting industry — the VIP programs, the psychological targeting of losers, the banning of winners, and expose how these companies actually operate. The conversation turns from speculation to affordability, with a full-throated argument against "burrito gate" and the strain of conservatism that tells struggling Americans to just work harder. Jon and Nick both make the case that if the right cannot even diagnose the affordability crisis as real, it has no business calling itself a movement for working people. Tune in for this rare dip from Moment of Truth into intra-right, very-online squabbles (and come out better for it!) This week on Moment of Truth, Professor Ilan Wurman of the University of Minnesota returns for round two on birthright citizenship, breaking down the Supreme Court's decision and what comes next. Ilan explains why the 5-4 ruling is actually closer to a victory than it looks, walks through the flaws in the majority's reasoning on extraterritoriality and the entry fiction, and makes the case for the Thomas-Gorsuch dissent He also gives a sympathetic read on Justice Barrett, lays out what a future administration and a future Supreme Court appointment could actually do differently, and pushes back hard against the doom and gloom many young conservatives are feeling. This week on Moment of Truth , Nick is joined by the Honorable Anthony D'Esposito, Inspector General of the Department of Labor and former Congressman from New York, for a conversation about what it actually looks like to root out waste, fraud, and abuse at scale. The Inspector General explains how the Department of Labor's IG office has one of the broadest investigative jurisdictions in the federal government and what that means for cross-department investigations, including what the Vice President’s Fraud Task Force. They also get into how unemployment insurance fraud is quietly destroying small businesses in states like California and New York to the tune of millions of dollars a day. And no conversation about labor would be complete without tearing into the topic of H-1Bs and how immigrations and corporate interests alike are manipulating the system at American citizens’ expense. There’s lots of great stories in this one, including gangs running restaurants in Boston on stolen identities, fraud influencers posting step-by-step guides on TikTok, and why the $6.5 billion healthcare fraud takedown was the biggest in American history. This week on Moment of Truth, Nick sits down with Omar Pimentel, Director of Frontier Strategy at Type One Ventures and former space portfolio lead at the Defense Innovation Unit, for the show's first ever episode about space. Omar explains how DIU was created to repair the broken relationship between Silicon Valley and Washington, how the Other Transaction Authority allows the military to buy technology at commercial speed, and why Starlink is the single best example of what happens when you let industry solve the problem instead of specifying the solution. They cover Space Force, GPS as America's most underrated gift to the world, the threat landscape in orbit, what kinetic conflict in space would actually look like, Artemis II and the road to landing on the moon by 2028, why Administrator Jared Isaacman is doing more with the same budget, and what the plan to get to Mars actually is. This week on Moment of Truth, Nick sits down with Will Thibeau, Director of the American Military Project at Claremont's DC Center for the American Way of Life, for a wide-ranging conversation on the wars reshaping American foreign policy right now. They cover the Iran deal vs. the JCPOA, why the nuclear threat has always been more complicated than neocons made it sound, and Will explains the helpful concepts of “battlefield geometry” and “battlefield algebra” that have fundamentally changed modern warfare. They break down why Ukraine has been able to hold Russia at bay and evaluate how Iran's cheap drones mean that destroying 90% of their combat power still leaves dangerous residual capability. This week on Moment of Truth, Nick sits down with Ryan Girdusky — political consultant, author, and OG American Moment board member — for the most honest breakdown of the 2026 midterms you are going to hear anywhere. Ryan rates Republicans chance of keeping the House, explains ‘midterm math,’ and walks through the Senate race by race — North Carolina, Georgia, Texas, Ohio, Michigan, Maine, and more. He has strong opinions about the trouble in Texas, the mess in Maine, and the missteps in Michigan, and he explains what it’s going to take from Republicans to win in those hot seats. This week on Moment of Truth, Nick hosts a discussion with Mark Widmar, CEO of First Solar, for a live impromptu recording at the Reindustrialize conference. First Solar is one of the most important American manufacturing success stories nobody is talking about, proving that, yes, you CAN build products in America. This semiconductor company has built six factories in the United States, employs 40,000 Americans across its supply chain, and generates $4 billion in annual payroll, all while going head to head with China on solar technology. Mark explains how First Solar has integrated AI into manufacturing at full scale since 2022, why the average job at their facilities pays $80,000 a year, and what it actually looks like to build a factory in a community that lost everything to deindustrialization. This week on Moment of Truth, Nick sits down with George Beebe, Director of Grand Strategy at the Quincy Institute and former head of the CIA's Russia desk, for a rare insider's look at how the intelligence community actually works… and what needs to change. George explains the real power structure of the IC and why ODNI was created to manage it all. They also get into domestic surveillance and where the legal lines actually are, how congressional oversight has become more kabuki theater than real accountability, what questions new members of the Intel committees should be asking, and how the IC can begin to rebuild trust with the American people. This week on Moment of Truth, Nick sits down with Gord Magill, author of End of the Road: Inside the War on Truckers, for an illuminating conversation about American labor. Gord is a third-generation trucker from Canada who has driven across four countries and spent years figuring out why the industry that moves everything in America has become, in his words, “a complete dumpster fire." He breaks down the driver shortage narrative that the American Trucking Associations have been running since 1987… and why it has always been a lie. He also exposes the flood of non-domiciled CDLs being issued to people who don't speak English, and breaks down the big legal battles of the day with the Delilah's Law stall in Congress and the Supreme Court's Montgomery v. Caribe Bay decision. This episode is a good reminder that behind every policy debate are legions of workers and logistics where livelihoods (and lives) are at stake. For Moment of Truth episode 250, Nick is joined by Kelly Loeffler, Administrator of the Small Business Administration, for a live Moment of Truth event, with a special introduction by Michael Stumo of the OMB’s Made in America office. In anticipation for America’s 250th birthday, Administrator Loeffler takes us through one of the quintessential founding tenants of our nation: the dream of ownership, exploration, and creation. She shares the story of what she found walking in on day one of the Trump administration, including 90% of staff working from home, loan programs used as cookie jars, and what turned out to be $200 billion in fraudulent COVID-era loans that Biden's team quietly gave de facto amnesty. They also explore the reindustrialization of America, the role small manufacturers play in the defense supply chain, the fight against the Green New Deal, and why the people saying Americans won't work manufacturing jobs are completely wrong. Thank you to the Administrator for the gracious gift of her time on this very special episode. We hope you enjoy it and send it to any of the current (or aspiring!) small business owners you know. Éric Zemmour — French author, journalist, presidential candidate, and one of the most important voices in the Western nationalist movement — joins Nick this week to discuss his landmark book, The Suicide of France, now available in English for the first time. Zemmour walks through what France looked like in the era of De Gaulle, how assimilation worked and then broke, and how immigration turned from a managed flow into what he calls an invasion and then a colonization. He draws sweeping parallels between France's civilizational crisis and what is now unfolding in America, makes the case that Samuel Huntington was right, explains the Molotov-Ribbentrop dynamic between woke ideology and political Islam. Through all that, he insists that there is still yet hope for France and for America, but only if the people will mobilize to defend their way of life and their future. This week on Moment of Truth, Nick sits down with Dr. Mark Mitchell, Dean of Academic Affairs at Patrick Henry College and author of the forthcoming book Breaking Babel, for one of the most theologically and philosophically rich conversations the show has had yet. The subject is AI, but not in the way you usually hear it discussed. Dr. Mitchell proposes that the Tower of Babel is a lens for understanding what happens when human beings use language and technology to usurp the authority of God, and follows that thread all the way through large language models, artificial general intelligence, the epidemic of loneliness, the collapse of genuine human competency, and what it means that we are increasingly unable to tell the difference between communion with a person and the simulation of one. He also makes a sharp distinction between tool AI and general AI, cleanly dividing using a tool from the worship of a tool made in one’s own image. This episode is more philosophy than policy, but it offers a clear and constructive voice from the AI-skeptical camp. This week, Moment of Truth returns to the Masterclass format, compiling the sharpest clips from years of guests into one definitive episode on the immigration problem. Featuring Russ Vought, Oren Cass, Ron Hira, Rosemary Jenks, Jason Richwine, Jeremy Carl, Kevin Lynn, Max Rymer, and Joe Rigney, this episode covers every dimension of the crisis — economic, cultural, societal, political, and moral — in one place. Oren Cass explains why the labor market argument for immigration is an admission the left never wanted to make. Ron Hira breaks down how the H-1B program works as a system of indentured servitude. Rosemary Jenks exposes the dishonest intentions of the pro-immigration elite. Jason Richwine makes the empirical case that immigration causes a culture transplant, not assimilation. Max Rymer and Joe Rigney use Minnesota as a poignant example of how unbridled immigration can change a place in a very short amount of time. Jeremy Carl disproves the myth that America is a 'nation of immigrants.' Kevin Lynn shares his concerns over the damage being done to America's young men by their systematic replacement. And Russ Vought closes with the biblical and constitutional case for a Christian immigration ethic rooted in national sovereignty. This is the episode to send to everyone you know. This week on Moment of Truth , Nick sits down with Professor Ilan Wurman of the University of Minnesota Law School for one of the most illuminating legal conversations the show has ever had. Wurman makes the full originalist case that the conventional wisdom on birthright citizenship rests on two shaky pillars: a misreading of the common law and a misreading of the 14th Amendment. He explains why birth alone was never actually the rule at common law, what "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" really meant to the people who wrote it, and why the social compact theory changes everything. He also gives his honest read on Trump v. Barbara, what he thinks the Supreme Court will do, and what Congress could do right now if it decided to act. This one is for immigration hawks and legal eagles alike. This week on Moment of Truth, Nick sits down with Will Fry, founder and CEO of American Operator, to dig into one of the most important and least discussed crises facing the American economy: the small business succession problem. Over half of America's 6 million small businesses with employees are owned by someone over 55, most of them have no exit plan. If nothing changes, millions of them will either be swallowed by private equity or simply shut down. Will explains how American Operator is building a model to keep these businesses in local hands, why the SBA is actually one of the most effective federal agencies in Washington, and what the ‘Deez Nuts’ grill brush story tells you about the state of American manufacturing. They also get into hiring philosophy, what makes a great operator, and where CAN Main Street go from here. Small business owners, sound off in the comments. Follow Will: https://x.com/BuySellSMB? This week Moment of Truth is LIVE! Nick Solheim sits down with Senator Eric Schmitt of Missouri, with a special introduction by Theo Wold. This one covers a lot of ground fast. Senator Schmitt gives his live reaction to a major Supreme Court gerrymandering ruling that came down right before the event, and then gets into the left-wing political violence problem, the Luigi left's assassination culture, and why no one on the Democratic side will call it out. He makes the case for why MAGA is not going back, explains why the staffing question matters as much as the candidate, and goes deep on legal immigration — the H-1B scam, the OPT program, and why the "we don't have enough workers" argument is a lie that Republicans have been too timid to challenge. The senator also gave a live reaction to the president's announcement about reviewing troop deployments in Germany, prompting some foreign policy commentary. And stick around till the end to hear his predictions on the congressional baseball game. Follow Sen. This week on Moment of Truth, Nick sits down with Mollie Hemingway, editor-in-chief of The Federalist and author of the new biography Alito: The Justice Who Reshaped the Supreme Court and Restored the Constitution, for a deep dive into the most consequential yet least understood justice on the Supreme Court. Mollie makes the case that Samuel Alito is not just the author of the biggest conservative legal victory in fifty years, but also the clearest model for how to balance principle and pragmatism in a movement that tends to choose only one. They cover originalism and how Alito's brand of it differs from Scalia and Thomas, the inside story of how Dobbs actually came together, the unprecedented leak that triggered assassination threats against the justices, the smear campaigns from Bork to Kavanaugh, and why the lower federal courts — not the Supreme Court — are the real crisis facing the rule of law right now.
