Tesla: Frank Hannon As a kid growing up on the Beatles, Stones, Skynyrd and Cash, guitarist Frank Hannon borrowed inspiration from his idols when he founded the rock band Tesla and enjoyed his own rock-radio success with a string of 1980s hit songs that still resonates today. Brian Greenway: April Wine In 1977, guitarist Brian Greenway joined April Wine in time for the band’s rise to international fame with the 1978 album, “First Glance,” and its classic single, “Roller.” From there, the hits kept coming with radio mainstays “I Like to Rock,” “Sign of the Gypsy Queen,” “Just Between You and Me” and “Enough is Enough,” among others. He joins us from the road where April Wine is supporting fellow Canadian rock legends, Triumph, on a hit-packed North American tour, and kindly indulges us as we ask about the vintage songs (plus an obscure one), the band’s legacy and whether or not new music is on the list. Carmine Appice As the drummer for Vanilla Fudge and Cactus during the late-1960s and early 1970s, Carmine Appice pioneered the thunderous sound of heavy rock. He later co-wrote massive disco and synth-pop hits while drumming for Rod Stewart, and logged stints with Ozzy Osbourne, Ted Nugent, Blue Murder and King Kobra, among many others. Kenny Hickey As the guitarist for goth-metal icons Type O Negative, Kenny Hickey sold millions of albums and toured with everyone from Pantera to Motley Crue during the mid-1990s through the early 2000s.
