Encounters Down Under

In this episode, Anita shares a series of extraordinary encounters involving mysterious beings, large craft, telepathic messages and journeys through galaxies. Across seven experiences, she describes messages about preparing for major changes, encounters with beings in unusual uniforms, peaceful environments aboard enormous white crafts, meditation and mysterious tasks. Encounters Down Under Returns back to the wonderful town of Cardwell up in far north Queensland. On the saturday 8th of August 2026 i did my 3rd ever presentation re garding the podcast and a bit about the UFO phenomena. At about 9.00am on the clear sunny morning of Wednesday January 19 1966, George Pedly, a banana farmer at Euramo, near Tully (north Queensland) was driving a tractor with conventional electrical ignition, across the property of a neighbouring cane farmer. The farm track along which he drove wound its way towards and thence alongside what is locally known as Horseshoe Lagoon. This contained an area of water about 6 feet deep and one hundred feet across at its widest point, a total area of a little more than an acre. The greater part of the water was covered with a thick growth of water reeds, the stems of these about half an inch in thickness that protruded above the water to an average height of two feet. As George approached the lagoon, he thought he detected an occasional misfire in the tractor motor. He leaned forward in his seat to listen, and almost immediately heard a distinct hissing noise which he thought momentarily was a tyre leaking air. Then, to his astonishment, a large saucer shaped object rose from the lagoon, ascended slowly to the level of the tree tops, tilted a little to one side, and then, in a fantastic burst of speed vanished in a south-westerly direction. Mr Pedley thought the object was about 25 feet in diameter, about 9 foot thick at the centre, silver-grey in colour and made no sound apart from the original hissing noise. The total duration of the sighting was about 4 seconds. Mr Pedley jumped from the tractor and ran across to the lagoon. As he pushed his way through the 6 or 7 foot tall sword grass along the waters edge, he immediately saw a large circular area of slowly rotating water that was completely devoid of reeds. He further saw near the edge of the still slowly swirling water a patch of giant water couch grass, about a square yard of which had been clipped short, and the clippings removed. After a few minutes he returned to his tractor, started the motor, and went on his way. When questioned later, Mr Pedley was certain about restarting the motor, but could not remember whether he switched it off, it stalled or simply cut out when he left it, both of which were considered highly unlikely. Later that morning he came back past the lagoon and on further inspection saw for the first time the floating mass of reeds that had obviously come to the surface since his absence. The reeds were radially distributed in a noticeably clockwise manner, and he was emphatic that at that time the reeds in the nest, as it came to be called, were quite green, as were all the other reeds in the lagoon. At about mid-afternoon, he returned to the lagoon with Mr Albert Pennisi, the owner of the lagoon and surrounding property. Mr Pennisi waded out to the floating mass of reeds, and found that it was possible to swim beneath the mass, the water being quite clear and free from obstruction. But its most incredible feature, and one easily seen in photographs taken during the next 48 hours, was the amazingly clear impression of the UFO left on the surface of the nest. The outer perimeter was sharply down-thrusting, as if by a huge inverted saucer, with a perfectly circular central protruberance about 6 or 8 feet in diameter and possibly 18 inches deep. The morning of January 19th, 1966, began like any other for George Pedley, a 28-year-old banana farmer living just outside the small tropical town of Tully, in north Queensland, Australia. The summer sun was already warm, and a light mist hovered above the cane fields as he drove his tractor along a dirt track toward a place called Horseshoe Lagoon, a quiet, reed-filled swamp on his friend Albert Pennisi’s property. George was on his way to check an irrigation pump. The air was still, the sound of insects constant. Nothing unusual — until, suddenly, a strange hissing noise pierced through the steady hum of the tractor engine. He slowed. The sound was sharp, like air escaping under pressure from a possible tyre puncture, but yet it seemed to come from above and to his right. Looking up, George’s eyes caught a flash of movement — and then he saw it. Just twenty or thirty feet ahead of him, a large disc-shaped object was rising out of the lagoon. It was roughly 25 feet across, about 9 feet high at its centre, and had a smooth, metallic-grey surface that caught the morning sunlight. The object spun slowly as it lifted straight up, water and reeds falling away from its sides. “It was like a flying saucer,” he later told police. “Only silent — except for that hissing sound.” The object rose to about 20 feet above the lagoon, hovered for a few seconds, tilted slightly, then suddenly accelerated upward. It disappeared into the blue sky in seconds, leaving behind only the smell of wet vegetation and a shocked farmer staring after it. Curious and a little shaken, George walked over to where the object had been. When he reached the edge of the lagoon, he saw something that made his heart pound all over again. There, he could see only water, a perfectly circular patch in the thick reeds — a 30-foot-wide disc where vegetation should have been but now, a swirling pattern of water. George returned the next morning with good friend Albert Pennisi and his younger sons, only to find the reeds returned on the surface. But the reeds maintained the circular impression. Bent over neatly, pressed flat in a clockwise spiral, as if something heavy had descended on them and spun. The water underneath the mat of reeds was clear, unlike the muddy water everywhere else in the lagoon. The strange mark looked almost woven, as though the plants had been plaited together by invisible hands. It floated gently, rising and falling on the water. To George, it was exactly where the object had come from — its “nest.” Over the months that followed, other “nests” appeared in the same lagoon — smaller circles of flattened reeds, sometimes after reports of strange lights in the sky. The story spread beyond Australia, reaching newspapers in Britain and the United States. Some UFO researchers declared it proof of a landing trace — physical evidence that something unknown had touched the Earth. Skeptics stuck with the whirlwind theory, or suggested a hoax, though no one ever found signs of trickery. George Pedley himself never tried to profit from the event and never changed his story. He maintained until his death that he had seen a real, solid object — not wind, not light, not imagination. 19th January 1966, a man by the name of George Pedley was driving his tractor through the Pennisi cane farm when he could hear strange hissing noise. Thinking he had punctures a tyre, he followed the sound. Only to witness a strange disc shaped object rising from a small lagoon, tilt on its side and sped off at a phenomenal speed.
