Abdul Basit Abdus Samad also spelled Abdul Baset Abdus Samad or Abdul Basit Abdul Samad was a highly renowned and iconic Quran reciter from Egypt. Born in 1927 in Armant a village in Luxor Governorate Egypt he began memorizing the Quran at a very young age and completed it by the age of 10. He is considered one of the greatest reciters in history, known for his exceptionally melodious voice, remarkable breath control, and profound emotional delivery that deeply moves listeners. While he primarily recited in the Hafs ‘an Asim narration, he also mastered and recorded the Quran in other authentic narrations. This recording features his recitation in the Warsh ‘an Naafi’ narration. Warsh ‘an Naafi’ is a widely recognized method of reciting the Quran transmitted through Imam Warsh from Imam Nafi’ al-Madani, and it is especially prominent in North and West African countries. His recitations gained immense popularity globally through radio and television broadcasts and numerous recordings. Digital Quranic archives feature an extensive collection of his recitations which are studied and emulated by reciters worldwide. He traveled extensively throughout the Islamic world and beyond performing recitations in mosques and at various events and was honored with numerous titles and awards. He passed away in 1988 leaving an enduring legacy as one of the most beloved and influential voices of the Quran. ---------- Support Quran Central and earn ongoing reward.
