EPISODE 76: DIVE INTO REIKI WITH FRANCIS VENDRELL Few Reiki practitioners have a background as diverse as Francis: A doctor of physics and an ordained Zen monk, he has spent over thirty years demonstrating how analytical science and deep mindfulness can be combined to enhance Reiki practice. Having moved from Santiago, Chile, to Switzerland at a young age, Francis began his Reiki journey in 1994. By 2000, he had established his own Reiki school in Geneva and in 2010, co-founded the SwissReiki association. He was a co-founder of the European Reiki Group (ERG), which was originally launched as a collaborative website in 2016 and has since grown into a vital network for the European Reiki community. His current work focuses on two key pillars: The first one, education based on the disciplined, structured framework of traditional Zen practices. The second: pioneering scientific research to champion evidence-based 'energy medicine'. He played a pivotal role in helping Stephan Stadelmann create the world's first Reiki scientific database and establish the World Reiki Research (WRR) organisation. Francis is currently investigating the fundamental mechanisms of Reiki through the lens of quantum physics. By combining spiritual wisdom with cutting-edge physics, he aims to establish a sophisticated, measurable new paradigm for Reiki in the modern scientific era. You can contact Francis on his website. EPISODE 62: MARIE KYOKO MOROHOSHI Born to Japanese immigrant parents, Marie Kyoko Morohoshi is a sacred activist and queer Nisei (second-generation) Japanese American Reiki Master and Teacher. Her Reiki practice is informed by years of rigorous Zen, Chado (Way of Tea) and Ikebana (Way of Flowers) training she received at an early age. She has participated in key social justice movements such as Standing Rock, Mauna a Wākea, and Run4Salmon, bringing her healing work to those in need. Marie is dedicated to training BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and white allies in Reiki, focusing on a holistic, nature-based approach that reconnects students with the practice's shamanic and Buddhist origins. Her unique retreats combine Reiki with Shinto, Shugendo, and Lakota purification rituals—an organic and syncretic approach to reconnecting to our true selves, these practices help prepare any student or seasoned practitioner of Reiki to simply be Reiki.
