Earthing is the most important thing in electrical. without earthing or grounding we cannot use neutral or earth in our house, we can also say that electrical will fail with out earthing or grounding. electrical equipment helps protect from electric shock by keeping the exposed conductive surface of connected devices close to earth potential, when a failure of electrical insulation occurs. When a fault occurs, current flows from the power system to earth. that is known as earthing. and the wire which is connected from neural wire from transformer side to ground is known as grounding. Just putting wire inside ground is not a Earthing, we need some devices like copper plate, rod etc for making earthing proper, for proper earthing we need to check resistance from ground in regular interval for that we need Earthing Chamber, earth housing ,which is also known as earth pit or ground pit.
