Greg has a bone to pick. His satirical "Lake America" Nissan commercial got pulled off the air after the phones lit up, and he opens the show on why being offended is a choice. Jade, the deal slayer, is in the chair for all three hours, and Money Mike takes over the second hour. The spine of the show is one rule: if you cannot explain the deal simply, it is probably not a good deal. Dealers who can't convince you will confuse you. A good deal is one breath. A bad deal needs a spreadsheet and a guy in a short-sleeve dress shirt. If it doesn't fit on a napkin, walk away. Hour two is money. Steve wants to pay cash for a used Rogue Platinum and Greg won't let it go, which sets up the whole hour with Money Mike. Then Tony in Vaughan calls in with $1.3 million in the bank, no mortgage, a defined pension, and a 3.7% return, and gets an on-air intervention. As Greg puts it, being good at accumulation doesn't mean you're good at growth. Also: Alan on whether to break his mortgage, Don with half a million and no trust left in advisors, Dylan who lost $200,000 on penny stocks at 28, and the calculation that puts Jade at $2 million by 65 for $500 a month. The car calls: John choosing between a 4Runner, a Pilot and a Pathfinder, Jim's 2019 Pacifica, Anil on the new Rogue hybrid and Toyota's manufactured scarcity, Rose deciding between an Acura ADX and a Lexus UX when the Kicks would do, Susan's 14-year-old E350, and David's scrap Buick. Plus a ten-year-old-tires text, Greg's summer diving for sea snails in Chile at 13, Jade on living alone for the first time, the guy who keeps sliding into her DMs, and Greg's verdict on what all her exes have in common. THE GREG CARRASCO SHOW — September 5, 2026 Greg has Jade — the deal slayer — riding shotgun for all three hours, and Slacker Nation brings the questions that dealerships would rather you didn't ask out loud. The heart of this one is service and warranty. A caller gets quoted $270 for his next service on a car he was told was covered, which opens the door to what prepaid maintenance packages actually buy you. From there Greg walks through how warranty work really pays — the Ministry of Transportation guideline book, why manufacturers squeeze the labour hours, and why, despite all the complaining, no dealer alive would ever turn that work away. If you've ever wondered whether your service advisor is on your side, this is the segment. Also: the best lease rate and residual across Nissan and Ford, and what that gap really costs you. Winter tires and winter mats, and why rolling them into the payment is the move. Greg calls a crossover a truck and the texters lose their minds. And a long, genuinely warm call from Tony in Toronto that goes somewhere unexpected. Plus the numbers: the show is now averaging 36 minutes of listening against an industry average of 25, with 144,000 hours listened since January. IN THIS EPISODE 1:15 — Good morning, slackers 6:19 — The listening numbers, and what 144,000 hours actually means 19:10 — Jade, the deal slayer, in for all three hours 31:06 — Winter tires, winter mats, and rolling it into the payment 45:19 — "For me, they're little trucks" — and the texters revolt 1:00:28 — Greg on electric cars 1:12:31 — Mike's $270 service quote on a car he thought was covered 1:17:04 — What prepaid maintenance actually buys you 1:20:33 — Best lease rate and residual: Nissan vs Ford, dollar for dollar 1:32:58 — How warranty work really pays, and why no dealer turns it down 1:44:45 — Tony in Toronto 1:59:35 — "Don't be a jerk. Apparently these days that's still revolutionary." Live every Saturday morning on News Talk 1010 and the iHeartRadio app. Talk or text 416-872-1010.

The Payment Is Not the Price — Episode 256 Almost a third of Canadians trading in a car owe more than it's worth. The average one is buried over $7,000 deep. Loan terms have stretched to 84, 90, 96 months — because if you only ever look at the monthly number, they can hide anything they want inside the term. Marketing figured out that people will sacrifice what they want most, a fair price, for what they want right now: the smallest possible payment. So nobody sells you a price anymore. They sell you $9 a day. Three hours, one idea. What comes up: Extended warranties and rust proofing — buy the warranty where you bought the car, and why the rust module matters more for its warranty than its chemistry The lease kilometre trap — a caller talked out of extra kilometres the day before signing. Kilometres up front are always cheaper than kilometres at the end. Dealer vs. independent servicing — VIN recall scans, continuity of service, and how goodwill claims actually get won when your engine goes at 106,000 km Blocked from buying an LC 500 — export deposits, geographic restrictions, and Greg shutting a caller down hard: "You're assuming somebody is committing fraud without ever walking into the showroom." A 2013 F-150 nobody will buy — Greg pulls live market data on air: 77 comparable trucks, one sitting 193 days at $17,000. You don't set the price. The market does. A $2,500 transmission computer in a 14-year-old Fiesta — and the 30% rule for when to stop spending Why dealers sell "as-is" — there's only one reason, and your intuition is right CVT panic, hybrid vs. ICE, the 1.5 turbo, Kicks vs. HR-V — plus why "research" isn't watching YouTube videos, and why Google isn't designed to tell you the truth. It's designed to prove you're right. Also: Greg on running away from home at five, at thirteen, and finally at seventeen to Canada. Losing 42 lbs. Teaching the dad's class at Octa BJJ. Getting a prenup. And Barbara — 87 years old, never called a radio show in her life until last week. Proof that it's not too late to change what you're doing with your money. "I don't care about your feelings. Bring your thickest set of skin." 📞 416-872-1010 | Outside the GTA: 1-877-518-5151 📺 Watch live on the Newstalk 1010 YouTube channel 📻 Newstalk 1010 and the iHeartRadio app — Saturdays, 10am–1pm Brought to you by Erin Woodford (employee pricing — you pay what we pay) and Direct Nissan (no commission salespeople).
What happens when you leave life’s biggest decisions on autopilot? In Episode 255, Greg Carrasco challenges listeners to take back the steering wheel. He cuts through the electric-vehicle hype, explaining who an EV may actually work for—and why Canadian weather, charging access, depreciation, and total ownership costs deserve a closer look. Greg also exposes the “loyalty penalty” hiding in car insurance, banking, phone, and internet bills, with practical advice for negotiating a better deal. Later, Greg gets personal about his health transformation, revealing how he lost 40 pounds in his 50s. Joined by Colton from Game Day W Oakville, he explores men’s wellness, low energy, brain fog, declining libido, bloodwork, and why getting older doesn’t mean giving up. Plus, Greg answers callers’ questions about classic cars, high-mileage trucks, lease protection, warranties, and when it makes more sense to keep your current vehicle. The message connecting it all: when you wait too long to make a decision, someone—or something—will make it for you. Make the call, book the appointment, get the quote, and take control.
