In which Jules, Sue, Brian and Mark talk to Chris Lowe from Wimbledon CC about cricket milestones and statistics in celebration of our 50th podcast to date. We welcome back Luke, who weaved his technical magic and created Cricket Scorers Untallied (CSU) for us and gives us an insight into milestones and statistics in ice hockey. In the course of the chatter we ask, why do we note when someone makes a half century? Sue reveals some interesting facts about the CSU podcast, gleaned from the Buzzsprout website. Chris explains how he created a calculator for over rates and interruptions in timed matches in the Surrey league and now uses AI to automate his own club statistics for quick information in a meaningful timescale for Wimbledon to celebrate their players' successes. We wrap up the session with a suggestion of statistics on scorers and cake. In which Sue, Brian and Jules talk to Chris Tebb from Winsley CC (Bradford-On-Avon) about officiating in the Czech Republic. Who plays? Where do they play? How are officials recruited? What language is cricket played and officials trained in? What method of scoring is used? Event shelters, scoreboards, rain ... Chris gives a well deserved shout out to the Czech Association of Cricket Officials (CACO) and the Czech Cricket Union (Českomoravský kriketový svaz; ČMKS). In which Mark, Brian and Sue make up a third team with Middlesex Premier League umpires Matti Watton and Vinoj Srinivasan to discuss umpires and scorers working together for the good of the game. They discuss match preparation, local knowledge, coffee preferences, downtime, dining together, what scorers need to know to support the umpires, mutual empathy, preparing for higher levels and lots more. They ponder such questions as 'Should scorers attend the toss?' and 'Should scorers offer feedback to umpires?' - answers via email please. In which Jules, Sue, Mark and Brian talk to Devdutt Kshirsagar (Outside Broadcast Graphics Operator at Fox Sports) about his cricket work in Australia. Devdutt describes how he came to do the job and what a day in the life of an Outside Broadcast Graphics Operator looks like. Devdutt answers all Mark's 'nerdy' questions about the technology involved and Sue's probing about how much interaction he has with the official scorers and where he sits. There is an errant Leg Bye that features throughout the episode, which culminates in a weighty discussion over animated ducks.
