my kids wore hoodies to school today. i made a pot roast in the slow cooker yesterday, and i ran with a shirt on today. is this fall? also, we talk about the flooded (with water) half marathon in New Jersey and the flooded (with other stuff) hyrox
in this episode, I taste test a couple of new flavors of Skratch, tell you about the Metasleek that I tested that morning, and unbox some packages from Path Projects and Diadora
temps have been in the 90s here with high humiity, and it feels like we're back at the worst conditions of the summer. are we doing ok?
actually made it a good way through The Norwegian Method Applied book over the weekend - a book i'm reading a physical and not an audio version. my main takeaway is that there sure was a lot of reference to running 6x6. the second takeaway is that i think i need to do a proper lactate test
we've had a really nice week or so of cool morning temps that have been very nice for running. but now, it seems like summer is heating back up. today, i've got some shoes to unbox (i think they've not under embargo). plus, some running books!
I ran in the Tyr Valkyrie Elite 2 over the weekend - it's amazing. I tried the Craft Astmosfar this morning - I'm shocked at how much I like it.Last month, we were talking about the Topo Specter 3 and Specter Elite. Amazing shoes from brands that typically get ignored. But these just might be some of the best shoes to hit the US market in 2026. (no worries, I still love Hyperboost Edge and Deviate Pure)
both my kids are back in school already. it's finally cool enough that i can run with a singlet (rather than going without a shirt). this means i should be getting faster now, right?
it was 80 degrees with 84% humidity at 7am this morning. the humidity was so thick, it was foggy. i know this is normal for summer around here, but i still don't like it
i get a special delivery from adidas today. i unbox the NB SC Elite v6 which is finally off embargo. plus, it's been just absolutely gorgeous weather here lately. hope you've been able to take advantage!
with the air quality being what it's been, i ended up trying a curved treadmill. it was not what I was expecting. also, the World Cup final was yesterday
On top of this heat dome and humidity, Candian wildfires have pushed the AQI to dangerously high levels. It's making it tough for runners. In this episode, we talk about staying inside when AQI is this bad and also what we've been using to stay cool when it is safe to be out there: ice bandanas, cooling shirts, and ice in our vests also, Altra sent me a shoe for the first time in a while
ran a 5k over the weekend. wasn't sure if i was going to make it to the starting line.
the second chance drawing for the one-time two-day london marathon was today. did you get in? do they tell you which day you run? or are all the second chancers on the same day?
spent a week in utah with the fam. took the family for a hike, took my daughter for a trail run and she came back with only one mild injury, and tore a shoe while runningthere's a lot of packages to get to today
i'll have a lot of family travel this summer, and things are starting to ramp up
finishing up the four packages i didn't get to last time, plus another pair of shoes that arrived. grandma's is this weekend, and the weather looks impeccable. summer dad doubles are in full swing.
i was visiting my sister last week, and so many packages came while we were gone. i'll try to get through them all
it's summertime and my kids are out of school, so to keep them off their ipads, i have to keep them occupied with hikes, swims, extra long dog walks, and skating. it's a whole other level of training for me.
the summer months are always some of the busiest when it comes to new shoe drops. so i'll be unboxing some new shoes for testing. i am pretty sure none of these are under embargo
it's starting to warm up here in Crystal Lake. Do I still need to sit in the sauna? or can i just stand by a corn field.
