We are taking a break over the summer so please enjoy this show from our archives. This week Lauren and Nicole go about their week by assuming good intent. Meaning they always start from the idea that a person meant well or was doing their best, no matter what they say or do. Sounds very simple, but the ladies struggled. Expect a lot of honesty and some hard truths they would prefer not to have to admit. If you like what we do here and want to be part of the club, why not follow us on Instagram and TikTok. We are taking a break over the summer so please enjoy this episode from our archives. Dreams seem to fascinate us; why we have them, what they are and where they come from. The majority of dream researchers today believe that dreams are messages from our unconscious mind and if we know how to interpret them, they can be powerful tools for personal growth. Research has shown that the more you remember and investigate your dreams, the better your creativity and problem-solving skills and can give you insight as well as be a source of guidance, healing, discovery, change and growth. So this week at the club we are going to teach you how to capture and remember your dreams. To help us with this week and we enlisted Theresa Cheung. Theresa is a Sunday Times bestselling author and one of 32 women listed in the 100 most spiritually influential living people of 2023. Theresa works closely with scientists researching consciousness and has contributed features about dream power to newspapers and magazines and is a frequent dream decoding guest and spiritual expert on ITV: This Morning. When we face situations in life that aren’t ideal, if we're not actively changing them, then we are essentially consenting to them. We are taking a break over the summer so please enjoy this episode from our archive. It’s the last episode before we take a break for summer and we’re going out in a haze of sunshine, rebellion, and possibly crisps for dinner. Because summer has a sneaky way of waking up a part of us that goes into hibernation the rest of the year; the spontaneous one, the barefoot one, the one who remembers how to just be, instead of constantly doing. In this episode, we’re asking: What version of you emerges when the sun’s out and the pressure’s off? Is it your fun side? Your libido? Your ability to sit in a deckchair without feeling like you should be folding laundry? We’re talking summer selves, seasonal magic, and how to hang onto a little bit of that barefoot energy even when September rolls in. We are taking a break over the summer so please enjoy this episode from our archives. There is so much pressure to have the “perfect” summer - a great body, a great wardrobe, making every day of the school holidays ‘magical’ and having a wonderful Instagram worthy perfect holiday. Today Lauren & Nicole are saying NO THANKS to all of it! In this episode the ladies talk about the myth of perfection and what self care you can put in place to have the realistic summer that you actually want and deserve using their S.N.A.C.K method - because everyone wants snacks, but nobody wants stress. Before the rumours start… no, Self Care Club isn’t ending! We’re just pressing pause for the summer. After nearly seven years of making the podcast we love, we’ve been having some honest conversations about where the show is now, where we’ve changed, and where we want to go next. Because the truth is we’re not the same women who started this podcast. The audience has changed, the wellness world has changed, and our conversations have changed too. Somewhere along the way, we found ourselves talking less about collagen and goat yoga, and much more about the things that actually shape our lives now. Hormones, confidence, ageing, relationships, careers, teenagers, marriage, the mental load, identity, ambition, reinvention and what the second half of life really looks like. And those are the conversations we’re most excited about. So we’re taking a summer break to rest, rethink and create a refreshed version of Self Care Club. Same friendship, same honesty, same laughs, but with a much bigger focus on midlife and the brilliant, messy, confusing stage of life we’re all navigating. Expect conversations about menopause, women’s health, confidence, friendship after 40, ageing, beauty, sex, identity, empty nests, ADHD in women, relationships, reinvention and everything else we’re all secretly wondering about. Because midlife deserves its own space. Women in their 40s and 50s are often talked about, but not always talked to. We want this show to feel like sitting down with friends who are asking the same questions you are honest, funny, thoughtful, and still very much us. While we’re away, we won’t disappear. We’ll still be around, sharing things on social media, and we’ll be bringing you episodes from the very beginning of Self Care Club so you can relive the journey with us; or discover it if you’re new. Thank you for listening, supporting us, and growing with us. This isn’t goodbye. It’s the start of the next chapter and we genuinely think it’s going to be our best one yet ! This week on Self Care Club, we welcome Jo Hutton, yoga teacher, writer, trainer and creator of Yoga for Tired People, one of the world's leading health and wellbeing Substacks. Despite spending years teaching wellbeing practices, Jo experienced severe burnout in 2022. In this powerful conversation, she shares what burnout really looked like behind the scenes, why knowing about self-care isn't the same as practising it, and what genuine recovery actually requires. Together, we explore burnout recovery, nervous system regulation, chronic exhaustion, the difference between rest and recovery, and why so many people still feel tired even after taking time off. Jo also explains how the deeper teachings of yoga helped her recover and why rest may be a skill most of us have never learned. If you're feeling constantly exhausted, overwhelmed, burnt out or stuck in survival mode, this episode offers a compassionate and evidence-informed perspective on recovery. Self Care Club is the podcast that cuts through wellness myths and explores what really works for health, wellbeing, burnout recovery and self-care. • Burnout recovery and healing• Nervous system regulation• Chronic stress and exhaustion• Why rest isn't always restorative• Self-care myths• The difference between stopping and recovering• Burnout warning signs• Yoga beyond the physical practice• Recovery after burnout• Managing overwhelm and stress• Sustainable wellbeing practices• Learning how to rest Follow Jo Hutton: @johuttonyoga Subscribe to Yoga for Tired People:https://happyyoga.substack.com/ Look out for Yoga for Tired People (Bloomsbury, Spring 2027) If you enjoyed this episode, please follow, rate and review the podcast. This week on the podcast, we’re diving into a concept you’ve probably seen everywhere lately: glimmers. Recently identified by trend forecasters as one of the defining wellbeing trends for 2026, glimmers - the opposite of triggers - are tiny moments that spark feelings of safety, joy, calm, or connection. At a time when wellness can often feel overwhelming, expensive, or performative, glimmers offer something beautifully simple: the ability to find nourishment in what’s already around us. To explore this idea, we’re joined by two women who have quite literally written the book on it — sisters Nadia Narain and Katia Narain Phillips, authors of Glimmers: Tiny Moments to Transform Your Life.Nadia and Katia have spent decades exploring healing, self-care, nervous system regulation, and emotional wellbeing.Together they are also the bestselling authors of Self-Care for the Real World and Rituals for Every Day.In this conversation, we discuss: What glimmers actually are and why they matter How noticing small positive moments can support nervous system regulation The science behind glimmers and brain rewiring Why this practice resonates so deeply right now The connection between glimmers, trauma healing, and mental health Simple ways to begin noticing glimmers in everyday life Personal glimmers Nadia and Katia have experienced recently And the self-care practices they turn to themselves This is a warm, grounding and hopeful conversation about finding beauty, safety and connection in the smallest moments and why those moments may be more powerful than we realise.Come see us hosting in the Menopause tent at the Everywoman Festival on June 13th https://www.everywomanfest.com/tickets-londonBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/self-care-club--6942824/support.Get in touch & come follow us on:Instagram Tiktok thttps://www.tiktok.com/@40ish.podcastJoin our private Facebook groupOrder our book hereBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/40ish-navigating-midlife-and-perimenopause--6942825/support?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=rssStudio production by @launchpodstudiosMusic by purpleplanet. This week on 40ish Lauren reaches peak midlife as she attends an wholesome Ottolenghi Cooking Club; yet somehow gets embroiled in a conversation about anal s*x within 3 minutes of arrival. Meanwhile Nicole realises that you know when you’re spending too much time with your gyne when he feels fully comfortable eating crisps off your plate. In midlife news it turns out almost half of middle-aged Brits are still traumatised by school PE - not surprising if you remember being asked to climb that rope in a pair of big navy pants. We hear from listeners navigating menopause in toxic workplaces, sharing the very real fear of education being weaponised, but also why the conversation still has to happen. Today’s dilemma asks: Is it actually possible to lose weight in your 40s? Despite doing “all the right things” (gym, PT, food), social media is screaming that unless you buy a miracle pill, it’s game over. We get into the pressure, the myths, and the reality of midlife bodies.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/self-care-club--6942824/support.Get in touch & come follow us on:Instagram Tiktok thttps://www.tiktok.com/@40ish.podcastJoin our private Facebook groupOrder our book hereBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/40ish-navigating-midlife-and-perimenopause--6942825/support?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=rssStudio production by @launchpodstudiosMusic by purpleplanet. On 40ish -In today’s show: Nicole goes to Barcelona. Nicole gets very drunk. Nicole takes electrolytes and Movicol before bed and decides that it would be socially acceptable to kiss Jon Hamm if he just happened to turn up. Lauren decides to share her drunk texts with the nation. We also discuss the absolute state of modern “healthy” recipes including cauliflower fudge (why), cauliflower pizza (still why), turkey mince pizza (call the police) There’s also a dilemma from someone who is completely fed up with hearing about menopause everywhere she turns and wonders if awareness has gone too far. (Short answer: No!) Plus petty midlife annoyances, full bins, clicky phone keyboards, Kirsty Alley, Family Ties (remember that?) all the usual chaos. Today we are bringing you an episode from our other podcast 40ish (don't say we don't spoil you) Please enjoy this episode. This week on 40ish, Nicole reports from the glamorous world of post-surgery recovery where the main event of the day is… taking painkillers. Timing them, thinking about them, planning the next one. Meanwhile, Lauren has a mysterious foot situation developing. There is very validating listener feedback about the extremely serious issue of designated mugs. We also tackle this week’s dilemma where a woman is left wondering if some friendships can recover after youve been seriously let down. Plus we share some midlife meltdowns, including an existential crisis in the cereal aisle and a listener asking the question many of us are secretly thinking: what exactly is the point of Facebook now? Expect rants, honesty and the comforting reminder that midlife is mostly just trying to take the right painkiller at the right time while drinking out of the correct mug.
