Lisa Congdon is one of my favorite people to follow online. Her colorful art, love for bikes, and bravery in speaking up for causes she believes in are all deeply inspiring to me. At 58, Lisa is a shining example of what's possible in the second half of our lives. She started riding bikes consistently in her 40s and didn't start racing until her 50s. In this podcast episode, we discuss what drew Lisa to endurance racing, how working with a coach transformed her relationship with cycling, and why she believes older women are uniquely suited for long-distance events. We also discuss why Lisa chose to show up as her whole self online—art, cycling, activism, and all—and how speaking out about her values has actually grown both her following and her opportunities, not diminished them. ⭐ Sponsored by Cycle Limited. I first interviewed Lindsey Richter five years ago and that podcast episode became one of the most popular that I've ever done. Much like anyone who has ever been to one of Lindey's Ladies All Ride skills camps, listeners of that episode immediately fell in love with her. So obviously, I was super excited to have Lindsey back on the podcast a second time. Lindsey is now 50 and stronger and wiser than ever. She just returned from leading an all-women train down A-Line at Crankworx Whistler, and she continues to help other women develop the same confident, bad-ass energy that she embodies. In this interview, we talk about mountain biking as we get older, but this episode is also for anyone who's ever ridden a mountain bike or would like to get on a mountain bike. Lindsey shares her advice for women who are brand new to the sport, how to overcome mental hurdles, why it's so important to build community, and much more! This episode is a re-release of one of the very few interviews I ever did with Georgenna Terry. It may not be the most polished or confident interview I’ve ever done since I had no experience at the time, BUT it provides so many golden nuggets of wisdom so I wanted to reshare it. If you don’t know who Georgenna Terry is, she was the founder of Terry Bicycles, a name you probably recognize. She has since moved on and created another company, Georgenna Terry, building custom hand-built steel bicycles. A question I frequently hear from many of my female coaching clients is, "What supplements do you take?" This is one I hesitate to answer because supplements are very individualized. Several of the supplements I take are based on bloodwork identifying things I'm deficient in. That said, there are several supplements that *most* female cyclists can benefit from taking, and there are a few others that *many* other folks may be deficient in. 🔥 50% off training plans with coupon code PODCAST50. 👉 https://shop.femmecyclist.com/product-category/training-plans/ ⭐ Our favorite electrolytes 👉 https://www.femmecyclist.com/hydration-drink-mixes-for-cycling/ Full Show Notes : https://www.femmecyclist.com/supplements-cyclists/ ❤️ Join Kristen & The Femme Cyclist Community ➡︎ Website: https://femmecyclist.com ➡︎ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/femmecyclist ➡︎ Instagram: https://instagram.com/femme_cyclist ➡︎ Facebook: https://facebook.com/femmecyclist Support the show 👉Instagram: @femme_cyclist 👉Website: https://femmecyclist.com
It always makes me sad 😢 when I hear folks tell me that they don’t have friends to ride with or are struggling to find a bike community to be a part of. And I relate—I’ve moved cities multiple times in my adult life, and have had to start over finding bike friends. 👯♀️ The good news is that female cyclists are the kindest, most welcoming women I’ve ever met.
