For the final episode in our Crime and Thriller series, Dr Lucy Sheerman is speaking to author Adèle Geras. Adèle has authored over 100 books and is one of Britain’s most celebrated writers of children’s and young adult fiction. Her book TROY was shortlisted for the Whitbread Award, the Carnegie Medal and the Guardian Award.

This week we are chatting via Skype with bestselling crime fiction author Elly Griffiths. Elly is the author of 21 books, including two crime series. She’s about to launch a new series aimed at children; the first book is A Girl Called Justice.

This week, author Sophie Hannah is chatting with fellow crime fiction author Alex Michaelides in the next episode in our crime fiction series. Alex’s book, The Silent Patient, is a New York Times no.1 bestseller. The book is a psychological thriller about a famous painter who shoots her husband and refuses to speak again. The novel is narrated by her therapist who’s trying to persuade her to talk and to unravel what’s happened.

In our second episode in a series about crime fiction, Midge Gillies, Institute Teaching Officer in Creative Writing, is chatting with bestselling crime writer Jim Kelly. Jim’s latest book is The Mathematical Bridge, the latest in a new series called Nighthawk. The books are set in Cambridge during the Second World War and follow the adventures of Detective Inspector Eden Brooke.

For our very first episode in a series about crime fiction, Midge Gillies, Institute Teaching Officer in Creative Writing, is chatting with bestselling crime fiction author Sophie Hannah. Sophie’s latest book is How to Bear a Grudge and she’s also the author of the new Poirot series and the bestselling crime fiction series Simon and Charlie. Sophie is also Course Director of our new Crime and Thriller Writing Masters at the University of Cambridge.
