We couldn't picture watching all 3 of these bad Home Alone sequels, and we couldn't imagine making you listen to 3 episodes worth of that. So we each watched one of them, and sum them up for you in our own way in this one compact ep. You don't have to watch these movies, unless you're some sort of masochist who hates spoilers for irrelevant movies. Mike watched 2012's Home Alone: The Holiday Heist. It has a haunted house/mobster subplot, a hidden speakeasy, and made Mike wanna drink. Jake watched what legitimately sounds like the worst idea for a Home Alone movie ever, with 2002's Home Alone 4. Adam watched 1997's Home Alone 3, and, though I forgot to mention it in the episode, one of the biggest letdowns was that the kid never used the yellow Sega Game Gear he had hanging from his utility belt on the movie poster. In this, the first ep of the series, we are discussing 2021's direct-to-streaming-on-Disney-Plus "legacy sequel," Home Sweet Home Alone. Ellie Kemper and Rob DeLaney are trying to get their hands on a $200,000 ugly little boy to sell to an old lady to save their house. Of course, they know they're talking about a porcelain doll, but the kid, Max, thinks they want to kidnap him. So he creates a plan to defend himself and his McMansion. This week, we leave Michael Myers behind to discuss Halloween III. Audiences at the time weren't properly prepared for a "Halloween" movie without Michael Myers, and it got a terrible reputation. Time has been kind to it though, and taken for what it is, it is finding its audience. Its definitely a fun one to watch with friends at a Halloween party! Sure Michael is back, but there’s no Laurie. There’s no involvement from John Carpenter. No JLC. But set your worries aside! This is still a pretty great Halloween movie! Michael is revealed to have survived the events of Halloween 1 & 2, and has been catatonic in a mental hospital for the intervening 10 years. And, fools that they are, they are transferring him somewhere else on the day before Halloween. Donald Pleasance is back as Loomis and he is trying to protect Laurie’s recently orphaned daughter, Jamie, from her maniacal murder Uncle Michael. Jamie Lloyd is back, and this time she’s played by Danielle Harris, a great actress. But she’s a mute for the first half of the movie. And they do nothing with and then kill off her “sister,” Rachel, who we will get to know better next week in Halloween 4. Rachel’s friend Tina leads a group of crazy Haddonfield teens looking to get their Hallofreek on. Loomis rages around town scaring more people than The Shape himself. Production problems and a tight budget might just doom this one! Judge for yourself, but be reasonable! I’m never reasonable if I can help it!! Theatrical Cut, Producer's Cut, whatever. Halloween 6 has PROBLEMS. But at least the mask looks good in this one. And there are some great kills. However, you have to have some interest in the power of Runes to influence evil to truly enjoy The Curse of Michael Myers. Paul Rudd stars in this one, though, and it was his first movie! So listen as we discuss the film that wraps up the Jamie Lloyd trilogy, despite recasting her with a complete zero, and totally ruining the character's life. You may not know it from listening to our podcast, since she's appeared in every movie we've covered so far, but H20 was Jamie Lee Curtis' return to the franchise after 17 years. With the resurrection of Laurie Strode, H20 became the first—but not the last—soft reboot in the franchise, discarding Halloween 4-6. This movie has its issues (what is up with that MASK?!), but overall, it is a scary and fun slasher movie that doesn't go over-the-top. There are gratuitous jump scares along the way, but the final showdown between Laurie and Michael Myers is worth the watch!
